In Nursing, when a patient is in restraints...what is the priority? Obtaining a doctor's order in a timely manner or checking the patient every 15 mins?
You need to tell admin that since they are the ones who never touch patients yet give "nurses and healthcare workers" impossible assignments and refuse to hire staff. If I have 2 patients on ventilators with PEG tubes and lines that they keep trying to pull out, along with 3 other patients on an assignment, you're damn right I'm going to get a restraint order to keep the vent patients from extubating themselves and dying. I'm guessing you have never done nursing.
I was restrained twice for performing surgeries and I felt safer because I was afraid of convulsing and harming me with my body open. Sometimes is for the best.

@@annuhlisa Yes even if Doctors do not follow all the protcols. You do what Doctors tell you even when Doctors tell do not put the retrait report in the patients records.
@@annuhlisa Yes I understand just following Doctors protcol/orders. Even when Doctors do not follow proper protcols/orders. Even if Doctors tell you not to put the restrait report/chart in the patints record. If a patient take himself/herself off restraits then you are not doing your job.

My gf was recently admitted to the local psychiatric hospital. She was really fighting the nurses about not wanting to be there. But she needed to be there. Anyway the Doctor she comes in and has the nurses strap her to the bed. When I go see her she always has to be strapped down. I wish we could walk around the facility to get out of that room but it doesn’t work that way with a visitor. My gf hates being strapped down to the bed but knows she needs to be. However she was telling me how she would consent to being in a straight jacket as she could walk around more.
Nothing more comforting than a female patient being put into restraints by a male nurse.
The patient will never just give you their hand …😂

...and you need to experience and live with the lasting psychological impact of icu/restraints etc.

When I hear the words nurse and restraint in the same sentence I go all quivery !
Here we just use crepe bandage and gamgee to improvise the restraint. :3
A message to all nures and health care workers. Restraints do more mental harm then good. Even long term

it can. some definitely need it for safety concerns 100%. but there are protocols/orders we can't refuse, we are just doing our job

More than a fall or self harm/harm to others?
Why can’t the patient just reach down and undo the slip knot?
Who cares about how you tie it we want to know interventions, management, treatments, expected and priority ...nclex shit
Restrainers are sick.
