    You should use Anderson Plugs for this not extension cord plugs.

    does this answer to How to Run a 12V Winch on AC Power - [Step-by-Step]? never done this so really confused here.

      No… still runs on 12v battery just using the plug for easy connection.

    You seem to know about electrical well enough for me to ask you this. I want to buy that same winch to pull a 600lb motorcycle into a truck bed. Do you think the Harbor Freight Predator generator /inverter can power that winch? Appreciate it if you could let me know. The Predator can do 13.3 amps.

    • @BigRedFishDad
      @BigRedFishDad  3 года назад

      idk for sure. The manual (download on HF site) says that from 0-1000lb the amp draw on the winch is 10-55amps. I would still use a car battery and then just use the generator to charge the battery. If that is the only reason you are getting the generator I would just get one of those battery jump packs instead. Also, the 3500-watt inverter generator says it only does 8Amps for 12 Volts so A good battery or jump pack with high amps would be better.

      It seems that you think this winch runs on AC power. It does not. You should NOT be putting AC plugs on this. What he should be using is Anderson Plugs. This is a dangerous practice to do. This is a DC winch

    • @edmckinney8457
      @edmckinney8457 3 года назад

      No , The winch requires 135 amps DC not AC

    • @BigRedFishDad
      @BigRedFishDad  3 года назад +1

      @@edmckinney8457 ac or dc you seem to be stuck on that. Read the manual for the predator generator. As I mention it only outputs 8 amps max DC which is why I replied to the comment that it won't run it.

      Sir : You need a Battery to power the winch . AGM 1500 deep cycle will do the trick . That will run your winch for 15 minutes at full load . I’m retiring in the spring with 45 years as a industrial
      Electrician . I don’t know it all but I do know a little bit . If I can help I will gladly give my advice

    Use anderson plugs. Someone will plug into a wall plug. Very dangerous idea using cord plug ends.

      Guess we are really lucky that those blades on the plug are solid metal... No smoke after three years and have pulled a few cars and a couple old lawn tractors onto our trailer with it.
