Simple, straightforward, videos are usually the best. Comparing burn times is something we're all interested in, plus the scenery is gorgeous. As you pointed out, adding a wind screen will decrease boiling times and increase efficiency. I prefer cooking over a wood fire or wood stove but the downside is it results in messy pots and use of wood stoves is often banned in many areas. Use of a Trangia type stove is my next choice. Thanks for the videos.
Interesting video, much appreciated 👍 However, you are using the Speedster wrong! If you bought just the windshield already having the mug you need to cutout the slot for the handle, otherwise it’s just a average windshield! The complete wraparound design of the speedster is, imho, almost as efficient as the Caldera Cone. I’m lucky to have both these stove (and another 18+😂😂) and find myself using the Speedster as my go to 3 season stove. As you say if you need quick it has to be gas!
Bcb are used in the uk military, so shoud make a brew. Its what they were designed for. Or get the crusader stove, same applies most fuels can be used.
I've been working my way through alcohol stoves for a while, got a polymath one that comes with a windbreak like your speedster one, an Amazon special that has a circular windbreak/pot holder, and now an Xboil. The Xboil fits closely round my pot and works well. However it has three separate little pot holder things - it's only a matter of time till I lose one!
If i'm in a hurry I use a gas canister. Not so much of a hurry I use an esbit tab which you can't. Then I use my daisy can looks like your Speedster which I made many years ago before ever heard of speedsters when I was experimenting with alcohol stoves. When I'm using my daisy stove I use the ZEN Camps stove holder. $20.00. If it is really windy I add a windscreen. I boil sixteen ounces of water in 8 to 10 minutes depending upon the temperature and still have fuel left.
I’ve been sitting on the fence about a speedster stove for a while, so nice to see one in action! Looks like their complete kit has a cut out for the pot handles. At the moment I need the simplicity and speed of gas but looking forward to trying one next year.
Thanks for the video, just liked and subscribed, I use Meths with Xboil, think it all cost around £50 brilliant and in fact used it on my last camp for venison burgers, coffee and bacon in the morning and didn’t use all my meths, highly recommend.
I’m in South Wales. This is the Afan Forest Park. Plenty of places further up the valley that are a bit more secluded than this to get your head down for the night 👍🏻
Out of curiosity has anyone tried a variety of liquid fuels and found any one particular fuel to be less smokey? I bought a Polymath Phantom and put Colemans fuel in it and everything ended up sooty black. Is bio fuel any better?
Im always interested in comparisons. Trangia triangle ticks all the boxes for me.

Hi bud, another great video, got to love the gel blocks,

Try a tragia 27 it comes all contained or kelly kettle both do a good job. Or bcb crusader 2
Still watching, family in Cardiff watching pink, I'm contemplating.... How many hours have I spent watching blokes boil water on you tube???😂 ❤
You and me both! Maybe I’ll do a full 9 minute video of just the water boiling for you mate. Still better than Pink 🤣

That’s exactly why I’ve not pulled the trigger on the x-boil yet, I don’t trust myself 😂😂

Cracking channel mate.
Ideas:
Do you use poles?
Woodland camps?
Thank you mate. I’m planning to try some woodland stuff in the winter 👌🏻

I’ll probably modify mine and put a slot in one of the plates for the handle

Awesome, thank you! The X boil is definitely the closest thing to what I’m looking for 👌🏻
Toaks siphon stove and Toaks TiStand! 😊
I’ve had a look at that but I’m not a fan of having to use the pegs 🧐
@@holmesaway back up tent pegs if needed. 😎
I'm still watching.
Would also like to know if Dragon fuel works in a meths burner. I.e. does it bloom?
Good video, great location.
Not sure if it would work, I’ve not seen it tried before, maybe the subject of a future video? Thanks for watching 👌🏻
u could buy another firedragon stove (£5ish) and use 2 little wind break bits, in one stove cheap enough and that should waste less heat
Great idea! I’ll use that on my next camp 👌🏻
have you tryed the x-boil? not super sheap but super nice
That’s what I’m leaning towards at the moment 👌🏻
Good video - keep it up - just sub'd
Where are you based? And that looks like a good place to hang a hammock 😂. I use a SVEA 123 and love it

Xboil are good
I’ve been tempted by those, they look a decent bit of kit 👌🏻
Shame hexamine tablets are now illegal in the U.K. with other tablet options to follow. Stupidity by the government yet again 🙄🤬

I've been using Bi-ethanol from B&Q, much cleaner burn.
@@thewanderingforester £8 for 2 litres? job done.
@@thewanderingforester thanks👍
Is this interesting? Still watching?😂nice video, thanks😊
Thanks for burning the bench.
I've made my own out of an aluminium tray 27×14 and two tent pegs it works a treat but it cost me £1.00 for 3 trays RUclips vlogger (Greencraft)
