Forget the boil times Darren…what are you cooking for me? 😂. I’ll give you the choice. Main or pudding? I sort the other. 👍🏻

Been rocking the MSR PR2 for years. Never saw any reason to change. I do like the built in igniter on the DLX in case you lose your lighter, and it's noticeable quieter that the PR2. Performance was about dead even. Double the price for a DLX seems a little steep to me, but after flittering around with some cheap gear getting started, I figured out pretty quick to buy quality instead. Good stove, tent or hammock, and sleeping bag or quilt, and quality backpack are not cheap items. But you usually notice how much better the higher quality items work in the field. Long distance thru hikers usually have a pretty good handle on what gear is reliable and lightweight. It just cost $$$$$.

The other thing the deluxe has is a pressure regulator so it should better in lower temps. I have the pocket rocket 2 but usually take my planetx 900l, which is a jetboil knock-off that cost me £22.

Soto Windmaster for me. Wanted the Deluxe but its a bit to pricey. And then I found the Windmaster its perfect.

I think soto windmaster is better than pocket rocket dlx. I have windmaster and my dad has the dlx. We have some fun banter about the performance from time to time. They are almost the same thing but i like the windmasters pot stand more, because it is wider than the one in dlx, and also flat. Windmaster is also bit cheaper. And I recommend not shying away from used goods. I bought a jetboil stash system for 35€/30£ great condition, and one used msr reactor is arriving in post soon that i bought for 100€/87£.

Which one is better for adjusting the heat for simmering?

I find they are pretty similar but the deluxe probably edges it. Especially in breezy conditions when the flame is very low thanks to its better wind protection 👍🏻

I think maybe its feeling of elitism for some to buy expensive gear for qudos.
