The problem with Fleming was he struggled staying healthy. I believe he is just as good as some of the others, his body has been the issue. I wish him luck and I didn't want to see him move on, I just understood the decision.
I agree we will definitely miss his experience and seniority. I also credit him with that win at Notre Dame last year due to his awareness after Egbuka's catch at the end of the game. He rallied everyone to the line for the QB spike, which allowed time for the game winning run.
I agree with Penn State going 11-1 as a West Virginia Fan I think this will be good game I hope we can keep kind of close I would love to see Penn State beat Ohio State

Penn State has never had a schedule this favorable. Combine that with Penn State being overlooked by the media and fans and Penn State could be a surprise undefeated team.
The 1994 schedule was very favorable when Coach Paterno coached Penn State to a 13-0 record. Of course you had the likes of Ki-Jana Carter and Kerry Collins on offense and a very stout defense.
Here’s my two cents about James Franklin. The fans and administration have to be getting frustrated with Penn State’s inability to break out from Ohio State and Michigan’s shadow. This year, Penn State dodged Michigan and plays Ohio State at home. The Big Ten as a whole will be in for a massive growing pain with Michigan and Washington in rebuilding as well as Washington, USC, and Oregon having to acclimate to a more powerful conference. I think Penn State needs to take advantage and make the Big Ten title game and/or the 12 team playoff. If Penn State doesn’t make one or both, it could very well be a sign that Penn State will be left behind in the Big Ten, especially with Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Washington expected to build into powers. At what point do we start to have the same conversations about James Franklin that we had about Les Miles at LSU or Mark Richt at Georgia? James Franklin has been at Penn State for nearly a decade and has only made the Big Ten title game once. If Penn State doesn’t make the playoffs and/or the Big Ten title game, I think James Franklin is on a massive hot seat in 2025.
Don’t really think you can have the same conversation with James Franklin that you had with Les Miles. Les went to the National Championship twice and won one of them. He won the SEC twice vs James Franklin’s one B10 title. That’s not to say that James Franklin can’t win the big one. It’s just an apples to oranges convo imo

However, you have to remember that the roster that Miles won the title with was built by Saban in an era where the transfer portal didn’t exist and unnecessary strict transfer rules existed. Franklin took over a roster in turmoil following the Sandusky scandal. If you disregard the first two years of Miles’s time, when most of the players were brought in by Saban, his tenure and Franklin’s tenure look similar, with the exception of Miles’s second title appearance.

The biggest problem with our offense last year was the atrocious play calling. Our new oc did a lot at Kansas with a much less talented roster. I think Allar will take a good step forward and at least make the ohio state game watchable.
It's not only the playcalling, its the scheme. The only real success came under Moorehead. That zone read and zone blocking scheme makes the Oline week. Better D-lines always dominate. That is why we lose to OSU and Michigan.
Hey Lou, Tom Allen was the DC for Indiana before he was the HC... and his defenses always gave PSU fits, resulting in some tight games. On some other points/concerns you had: If you saw Abdul Carter up close these days, you'd understand why he wants to move to DE. He's one of those kids who hasn't stopped growing. Came in about 6'1" 215, and now 6'4" and between 255 - 260. He's enormous, and quick... and btw, what happened to our previous "11" - Micah Parsons? He became hybrid playing mainly DE with the Cowboys! He was used as an Edge last season... and really loved it. We have a super-soph named Tony Rojas at OLB & he's gonna pair with perhaps the most underrated LB in the country - Kobe King. KK just calls great games, and fills all the holes as the mike. Actually, a lot of the time PSU will be in a 4 -2 - 5 D.

James Franklin has been on and off the hot seat since his second season at Penn State. To be fair, he came into a tough situation with the sanctions from the Sandusky/Paterno scandal. Then he won the Big 10 in year 3 behind Saquon Barkley. But then they plateaued and even regressed in 2020-21. I think they have to make the Big 10 championship game and/or the playoffs or it may be time to make a coaching change. 9-3 isn’t going to cut it.

I could see this being a year Penn State breaks through. With this type of schedule it would be a miss opportunity if they didn’t make the conference championship and the playoffs.
Penn State football will be 11-1 or 10-2 with 9-3 at the worst in 2024. While the Peach Bowl against Ole Miss was a downer since eight players scratched out for their individual NFL draft goals, but the losses to Ohio State (brutal in person) and Michigan were offensively painful due to the inept play calling and lack of WR/TE's getting open. WR Fleming will be a better blocker like former transfer Mitchell Tinsley for the run game, which will open up their offensive playbook. Penn State's offensive line will be interesting with the three new additions, who have had some previous starting experience. I'm looking forward to traveling to USC's Los Angeles Coliseum for the Penn State, but Penn State will be more physical at the point of attack on the lines and edges. Will USC use the physicality and aggressiveness against Penn State, which will be interesting to watch.

Wisconsin beating Penn State wouldn't surprise me last 5 games avg score 26 to around 19 or 20 games are usually close between those 2 teams and camp randall is a tough place to play.Expect another close game again.Wish they played every year.
Penn State has beaten Michigan. Penn State recruits at a higher level than Michigan. Michigan is not the problem our coaches and Ohio State is our problem. If we'd just play to our damn potential we would have no problems.
Late to the party here, as far as I know this is the first time I have seen one of your videos but grade A breakdown, clearly can see you put in the work especially as a self proclaimed SEC guy, a lot of analysts/commentators even at the highest levels miss or don't understand some of the Big 10 dynamics as well as you seem to have. I think a lot of people like James Franklin as a coach, and he has been given an extra long leash for getting us out of the sanction years, but I do think we are getting to the point we need to see some Big 10 championship appearance or playoff wins in the next few years at least. If we go 2-3 years missing the playoffs or maybe getting in once but having a poor performance then I think it is time to move on.
Lou, why wouldn't people take PSU seriously? Consider that last season, what team played the best games against both OSU and MeatChicken that those teams faced all year? It was PSU, which shut down MI's passing game so hard that they changed to all-run... which ended up being a smart strategy. Both PSU losses by single-digits to those teams. (and yes, I know that MI beat OSU... but you know what I mean.)
Before the "Whiteout" became a must-watch college football game, Penn State beat Ohio State in 2005. When the "Whiteout" became a primetime event, Penn State beat Ohio State in 2016 - the only year James Franklin won the Big Ten.

Tom allen is a d specialist, just not a ceo headcoach type. Gonna run a 4 2 5 eith dbs/safeties. Carter will play some LB and kobe king and rojas. With carter playint DE when both LBs are playing and having DDS as the othwr pass rusher. All 4 DTs back helps
Kaytron Allen is better than Singleton IMHO. Watch all his runs. Amazing strength and vision. Coach K - should get Singleton in position to make BIG plays again this year.
When evaluating Penn State people don't understand they lost only two games in most seasons. These two teams are Michigan and Ohio State which are two of the best teams in College Football. They had the misfortune of being in the same division with Michigan and Ohio State.

I think you're wrong about the Wisconsin game specifically because its a post bye week. JF teams are historically awful after bye weeks. I actually think Penn State would have a better chance at Wisconsin if it was directly after going to USC. They will do the same thing JF teams do every year after every bye. Theyll come out sleepy, looking almost hungover. They'll play lazy and slow. Im a lifelong Penn State fan and alum and I WISH this game was not post bye because then they'd likely win.

I enjoyed watching Ole Miss dominating them last year in the bowl game. I thought that was really telling considering the Ole Miss players were fighting among themselves because of the toxic Quinshon Judkins.
Ummm .. it was the opt out bowl which got worse in the 2nd half. Lane Kiffen was overjoyed when Chop Robinson opted out. Just too many stars missing for Penn State in that game and offensive and defensive coordinators were gone. And frankly the 2nd year in a row going 10-2 losing to Ohio State and Michigan and not making the playoffs .. it was a game that Ole Miss wanted and needed a lot more than Penn State. Never making the playoffs while it was limited to 4 teams was a real downer to Penn State last year. Don’t get me wrong Ole Miss was a very good team last year but you did not get all of PSU and certainly not a motivated team. 😮

You are absolutely 100 percent wrong about Neil Brown. Only the misinformed wanted him gone, he is a perfect fit for WV, and a fantastic recruiter. Recruiting has never been the problem, retaining from lack of NIL was, now that has been fixed, so players are staying, and the 2025 recruiting class is as highly regarded as WVU has ever had, plus the 2026 verbal from Brodie McWhorter is a really big deal. USC’s defense is gonna get little brothered by what should be at least a top 30 offense nationally in Penn State… combine that with a strong secondary and an off season downgrade at most offensive skill positions for USC, i personally can’t see PSU dropping a loss to the Trojans. Wisconsin and Washington are way more likely to upset Penn state this season imo, what makes u confident in USC? It’s not exactly an easy trip out there for the lions that’s for sure. @@mikescatena5732 The stat means he can't win the big games... Michigan in 2017 went 8-4, PSU was 11-1. in 2019 Michigan went 9-4, PSU was 11-2. And in 2020 Michigan went 2-4, while PSU was 4-5. Michigan has something like an average of 10 wins a season since 2015, around the time Franklin was hired by PSU. Which is why James franklin is now 3-7 against Michigan in total and 4-16 against Michigan and OSU combined. Does that help you understand what he's talking about? James Franklin and Penn State are pretenders. Can't win the games that really matter.

Penn State with quarterback and running game.
The biggest problem with our offense last year was the atrocious play calling. Our new oc did a lot at Kansas with a much less talented roster. I think Allar will take a good step forward and at least make the ohio state game watchable.
It's not only the playcalling, its the scheme. The only real success came under Moorehead. That zone read and zone blocking scheme makes the Oline week. Better D-lines always dominate. That is why we lose to OSU and Michigan.

Hey Lou, Tom Allen was the DC for Indiana before he was the HC... and his defenses always gave PSU fits, resulting in some tight games.

He was used as an Edge last season... and really loved it. We have a super-soph named Tony Rojas at OLB & he's gonna pair with perhaps the most underrated LB in the country - Kobe King. KK just calls great games, and fills all the holes as the mike.
Actually, a lot of the time PSU will be in a 4 -2 - 5 D.
Not gonna lie, this schedule is pretty soft. They won the lottery by not having to play Oregon, Michigan or an elite out of conference team

James Franklin has been on and off the hot seat since his second season at Penn State. To be fair, he came into a tough situation with the sanctions from the Sandusky/Paterno scandal. Then he won the Big 10 in year 3 behind Saquon Barkley. But then they plateaued and even regressed in 2020-21. I think they have to make the Big 10 championship game and/or the playoffs or it may be time to make a coaching change. 9-3 isn’t going to cut it.

Penn State football will be 11-1 or 10-2 with 9-3 at the worst in 2024. While the Peach Bowl against Ole Miss was a downer since eight players scratched out for their individual NFL draft goals, but the losses to Ohio State (brutal in person) and Michigan were offensively painful due to the inept play calling and lack of WR/TE's getting open.
WR Fleming will be a better blocker like former transfer Mitchell Tinsley for the run game, which will open up their offensive playbook. Penn State's offensive line will be interesting with the three new additions, who have had some previous starting experience. I'm looking forward to traveling to USC's Los Angeles Coliseum for the Penn State, but Penn State will be more physical at the point of attack on the lines and edges. Will USC use the physicality and aggressiveness against Penn State, which will be interesting to watch.
Hopefully with the new OC Drew Allar will take the next step! He needs to be able to put the game on his shoulders and win it.

Late to the party here, as far as I know this is the first time I have seen one of your videos but grade A breakdown, clearly can see you put in the work especially as a self proclaimed SEC guy, a lot of analysts/commentators even at the highest levels miss or don't understand some of the Big 10 dynamics as well as you seem to have. I think a lot of people like James Franklin as a coach, and he has been given an extra long leash for getting us out of the sanction years, but I do think we are getting to the point we need to see some Big 10 championship appearance or playoff wins in the next few years at least. If we go 2-3 years missing the playoffs or maybe getting in once but having a poor performance then I think it is time to move on.
Lou, why wouldn't people take PSU seriously? Consider that last season, what team played the best games against both OSU and MeatChicken that those teams faced all year? It was PSU, which shut down MI's passing game so hard that they changed to all-run... which ended up being a smart strategy. Both PSU losses by single-digits to those teams. (and yes, I know that MI beat OSU... but you know what I mean.)

I think you're wrong about the Wisconsin game specifically because its a post bye week. JF teams are historically awful after bye weeks. I actually think Penn State would have a better chance at Wisconsin if it was directly after going to USC. They will do the same thing JF teams do every year after every bye. Theyll come out sleepy, looking almost hungover. They'll play lazy and slow. Im a lifelong Penn State fan and alum and I WISH this game was not post bye because then they'd likely win.

I enjoyed watching Ole Miss dominating them last year in the bowl game. I thought that was really telling considering the Ole Miss players were fighting among themselves because of the toxic Quinshon Judkins.
Ummm .. it was the opt out bowl which got worse in the 2nd half. Lane Kiffen was overjoyed when Chop Robinson opted out. Just too many stars missing for Penn State in that game and offensive and defensive coordinators were gone. And frankly the 2nd year in a row going 10-2 losing to Ohio State and Michigan and not making the playoffs .. it was a game that Ole Miss wanted and needed a lot more than Penn State. Never making the playoffs while it was limited to 4 teams was a real downer to Penn State last year. Don’t get me wrong Ole Miss was a very good team last year but you did not get all of PSU and certainly not a motivated team. 😮

Recruiting has never been the problem, retaining from lack of NIL was, now that has been fixed, so players are staying, and the 2025 recruiting class is as highly regarded as WVU has ever had, plus the 2026 verbal from Brodie McWhorter is a really big deal. USC’s defense is gonna get little brothered by what should be at least a top 30 offense nationally in Penn State… combine that with a strong secondary and an off season downgrade at most offensive skill positions for USC, i personally can’t see PSU dropping a loss to the Trojans. Wisconsin and Washington are way more likely to upset Penn state this season imo, what makes u confident in USC? It’s not exactly an easy trip out there for the lions that’s for sure. Franklin seems to have Wisconsin's number. He's beaten them every time, even when PSU has been a road underdog. If they lose a game outside of OSU, I feel like it would be them farting around offensively in the colleseum against a bad USC defense.

Which is why James franklin is now 3-7 against Michigan in total and 4-16 against Michigan and OSU combined. Does that help you understand what he's talking about?
