Walrus Audio tackled a fizzy/transparent overdrive concept and this was the result, a pedal that does those classic sounds but with the power of clean blend and some novel clipping options.

For anyone watching in 2023, there are two adjustable knobs behind the screwplate. The top one allows you to adjust the gain presence, and the lower knob allows you to increase the dry blend. It sounded good out of the box, but sounded 10x better after bumping the presence and blending more dry tone!
Oh my god thank you. I just fell back in love with my ages and but I still wanted more. I can't be helped when it comes to the endless gain pedal search but I'm going to try this immediately
@@kellymckenzie4865 yes! I'm glad to hear this reached someone 😁
Epic! Just ordered it after seeing your demo! You killed it, as always!
I hate 95% of overdrive pedals. The Ages surprised me. It pairs very well with my guitars and makes my strat sound amazing. It's just a very well designed overdrive.
I find your playing to be very repetitive in most of your videos.
Some might say that's a bad thing, but I find it comforting and easy to really see how each pedal sounds different in your demos because we almost always have the same "baseline" of your riffs and licks.
This! I love it when pedal reviewers play a consistent riff throughout the various settings of the pedal.
noticed that you've gotten to be a much better playing in the last year or so imho. thanks for your videos
I like the sound when the dry is turned all the way up the best.
I love your reviews!🔥 I own the pedal and was thinking the dry knob wasn’t doing nothing but I’m glad to confirm see and hear from you it’s a subtle thing. It’s a cool pedal.
I am intrigued to know, after you have owned the pedal for a while how you like the dry signal?
@@andyrussell1219 it’s very usable, I use a stray for now and if want to introduce a little of more twang you can blend it , again is subtle but really nice, if you are into overdrives this one is good!
One of the nicer sounding pedals of late. Erybody doing this one today! Nice job....
it's a product launch, it's all planned out weeks ahead of time. Walrus likes to go all out with their media blitz, lol.
I feel like Mastodon and Clutch should have this pedal paired with their Orange Amps.
Awesome review Ryan! Up until now I was dead set on buying a Wampler Euphoria, but now the fine folks at Walrus threw this on the market. Am I the only one here who would love to see a comparison vid between Ages and Euphoria? Cheers!
Great playing. Congrats🎉
This is a great, versatile OD pedal. Brett Kingman did a great demo of it the other day!
Opening tone was excellent
Sounds great. As tempting as it is, I think my overdrive needs are met with a blues driver and a plumes.
But is it a TS style pedal? I'm in the market for a new versatile overdrive to go with my Plumes, this looks like it gives a lot of bang for buck but I don't want a lot of overlap. What you do think? I thought mode 1 sounded the most TS to me.
It is not based on any type of TS type of circuit.
@@walrusaudioeffects many thanks for your reply! This might be the drive I'm looking for :)
some really nice sounds coming from this thing! Wanted to get it, but I went w the EQD Palisades for my bass
I just saw Colin's video on this from earlier. WANTWANTWANTWANT.
This sounds great, but I was really hoping one of the high gain settings might go to djent territory. Wondering whether it would get there with my high output Aftermath pickups?
It’s hard to say but pretty close, check it out to say yourself but it can chug pretty good in high gain on like mode IV or V
I feel like you’re going to want a distortion for a djent type sound.
I can hear noise with single coils and humbuckers, Is this pedal noisy?
What so that last strat -the black one?
its a baritone parts caster
I got blade runner vibes around 28:30
Razbijas kako sviras😎
When is the next stream
tomorrow morning.
