    Well done on your solo trek and camp. It's so nice to see someone taking their time rather than making out they are super human and racing around. i used to do a lot of overnight camps when i was younger in the Peak District.

    Bloody fantastic Sioux.
    I couldn’t do it, plus the fact that I need to pee at least 3 times in the night & couldn’t go without a cuppa in the morning & my ginger biscuits
    I’ll stick to the camper thanks

    1:53 The rocky lump behind you IS the summit of Yoke. The cairn you mention is also mentioned in the guide as having a better viewpoint, but its not the summit. There are plenty of places on the Wainwrights that are dotted with cairns usually to mark the path so its easier to find, especially in snow.

    • @susanrich6
      @susanrich6  3 дня назад

      Oh ok. So that was the summit. I use the Wainwrights app, on my phone to mark them off, this one was showing I'd already passed it.
      To be honest , I'm not to precious about it, just as long as I'm not cheating myself.

    • @timcrapnell4585
      @timcrapnell4585 3 дня назад

      @@susanrich6 Oh absolutely, I have the same approach in not being precious. My policy is to get to the highest point on the fell - which seems simple enough you'd think. There are a few notable fells where the Wainwright summit is a distinctly different point from the highest point eg Seathwaite Fell and Whinlatter but Yoke isn't like that. I've had an interesting discussion with someone recently about Tarn Crag near Grasmere. In this case Wainwright draws the summit in the guide and describes it clearly. He also mentions a cairn nearby, describing it as a good viewpoint. Its 3 metres lower. Apparently this other point is listed as the Wainwright on some official mountain list. This sounds rather like your Yoke situation, so I'm wondering if your app is using the mountain list. This sort of situation is why I stick to my "use the books and go to the highest point" rule !

      @susanrich6  3 дня назад +1

      @@timcrapnell4585 last week I did 5 more wainwright's and there was a distinct lack of summits. I thought, I'll have my lunch at the next one, turned out to be about 6 stones, never mind ill just head to the next for lunch.... it looked like muddy swamp!
      That vlog will follow soon. You'll see what I mean.

      @boolay75 14 часов назад

      Yeah looking at camping near Harter Fell, just depends on the weather. I might even end up in the bothy.
      That’s a pretty good achievement doing all of that for your first one, not easy at all when you’ve got all the gear to carry as well.

    • @susanrich6
      @susanrich6  13 часов назад +1

      @@boolay75 I had completed 6 wainwright's already but that was a year ago, and I had help carrying the gear.
      I missed out harter fell as that was on my second day and I had taken migraine medication 💊 and just needed to get down.
      I don't mind though as it's an excuse to head back up... as if Zeb and I need a reason! I feel at such peace up on the tops. Too be honest even on the little Hallin Fell (vlog coming soon) , I could of stayed for hours.
      Hope you have fun, don't rush, enjoy the views and let me know if you stay in the bothy. 🙂

    Absolutely loved this Sioux! I hope you do some more like this, it's about time you put some proper content on your own channel :) I've got you on bell now so I know when you have put something up.
    Haven't Wild camped in years, I do enjoy it though but have no gear at all anymore, last time I 'camped out' was in a car a couple of years ago,.
    p.s. how did you no melt to death with that many layers on in bed when it was 6.5 degrees, not minus 60 haha! Little Zeb is such a little baby, he's really cute :) you gonna sell the van now and just do this instead? Not. a change I could let my feet get licked haha, Zeb really is super cute in the morning in his red fleece and waterproof! Coming down is always the worst isn't it? Hope you're totally recovered by this point?
