Years on, people will get a memory rush to their past from a video and piece of music and there are people out there who are responsible for that. That would be so wicked to be that person who has created that moment for someone!

Have you noticed, how in the next season, after Mark’s death, the intro starts with Carter, instead of him and also Carter is sitting in the same swivel chair as Mark before. There is symbolism in that because on his last day Mark passed him the ball and said “you set the tone now” or something similar.

As an insider, this was the nearest to accurate as a medical show could be. Some dramatic license is taken but I know all of these characters and have lived through most of the scenarios presented here over the years. The show is the gold standard. Much better than greys anatomy which is also good from a different perspective

A few things about the openings, because of addition and departure of cast members: Season 3 and 5 actually had 2 openings each. While season 2 DID have 2 openings, the opening credits before Gloria Reuben was added to the cast was the same as the season 1 opening. Season 6 actually had 6 openings, and while season 8 did have 7 openings, the one used for the first 3 episodes was the season 7 opening. While season 10 did have 4 openings, the episodes before Paraminder Nagra was added to the cast was the season 9 opening. Season 15 DID have one opening, in the final episode.
I started rewatching clips of this show recently and remembered why I enjoyed it and why it feels like many modern medical dramas are missing something. What ER had was a major sense of urgency. Grey's Anatomy is emotion driven and House was a medical procedural. Neither show had the same level of adrenaline that ER had. Things were rarely slow in the hospital, with constant walk and talk scenes and emergencies every five minutes. The medical jargon came so quickly you barely had time to register it, so it seemed genuine without getting overly technical. Even the cast was constantly changing! There were departures mid-season more often than between seasons. The theme song presents that urgency well.
Still my favorite medical show and watching reruns of ER right now, every week till the very last show, ended in 2009...then didn’t see any repeats till a couple years ago, I was so happy it was on again, I have forgotten about certain episodes so I felt all caught up again. I still love the original cast, now what showing is the 2005/2006 episodes, (Luka!😉)...so glad I can skip all the long commercials after I recorded them! 😁😉💖
Season nine intro took some getting use to with Anthony Edwards missing at the start, especially after eight great years, 13, 14 & 15 intros.....NO, NO, NO and insult to ER die hards (if you loved the intro's, which i did) at least they brought back the original for the series finale - nicely added in some of the past cast, thanks for doing this.
Season 9 was bad because of the dumb ass storyline of Abby's family and Kovac/Carter trips to Africa, which both took up most of the season. Seasons 10-12 were better. Season 13 and 14 are awful. I am in the middle of Season 14 and I am not excited to watch the episodes. It feels like I am watching another hospital show.
