Oh yes, you're right about that! I sage all my oddities every now and then but I've certainly had instances a few years ago when I was sure I could hear an animal scratching around near my dead things but I couldn't find anything :o
That sounds very terryfying even though those spirits can be helpful if you treat the bones with respect and care (which I´m sure you do). As a fellow pagan I´m working with minerals and silver a lot. I would love to build an oddities collection too but I´m living in a crowded area. @@CorvinSometimes
Haha it wasn't as scary as much as it was confusing xD I think maybe some of the animals I have probably still aren't aware that they've actually died (I have dreams about them sometimes where they crawl out of their jars to come to the movies with me lol). I'd definitely be more concerned if it was ghosts of humans in my room though aha That's really interesting that you work with silver and minerals a lot, I've worked a bit with copper but not silver :o Ah yes, crowded areas do make oddity collecting a little complicated. Have you ever considered antique shops? They have often have oddities that are conveniently already cleaned, prepared and ready for display so there's no smell and they have furs, taxidermy, carved bone, old medical tools and so on, it's the best.
You oddity color room is amazing. There's a lot of different stuff mixed in and it was cool to see everything! The skulls and wrt specimens were some of my favorites. It's cool seeing an animals anatomy up close. : ) It's funny this video came out when it did because I just got done rearranging my shelves, including my oddity ones too!
i love this intro!! i look like i have hardly any animal bits but i have so many birds that haven’t rotted down yet. Actually funny enough yesterday i found a dead guinea pig behind someone’s house (i wasn’t trespassing it was city property) but since i didn’t have a bag i just laid some wildflowers on it because it made me sad that it was just lying there like someone had thrown it out as if it were trash so i put some flowers so as to say “you’re not trash and you are loved”
I know what you mean, I have so much stuff outside still in need of cleaning, I just want it all done immediately so it can be displayed! haha I still can't get over you finding a guinea pig, so random! I'm sure (s)he appreciated the flowers and love though
Some people, including myself, like to return the corpses of our loved ones back to nature as nature intended. That way they can be beneficial to the ecosystem. I always lay my pets in the forest when they die. It is after all, just a body at that point. The soul is not in there anymore. I myself have also already donated my body to a body farm here in Tennessee so that I too, can decompose in nature when I pass. It’s not always so malice as one might think. It’s honestly very natural. Funerals are what is unnatural, but culturally acceptable. With that being said, I do not judge anyone for their ways of mourning death.
That’s such a cool collection!! Did you know that every bird that isn’t considered a game bird is illegal (in the USA) to own any body parts, taxidermy, feathers, or bones? I love your collection btw. I have just started my collection actually, I have a few uploads abt it!
Thank you so much! Yes people online tell me about the Migratory Bird Treaty a lot but I'm in Australia so it doesn't apply to me haha Sweet, that's awesome! Happy collecting 😊
I’ve been thinking about starting to collect things, whenever I go to vintage/second hand stores I’m always drawn to certain objects, there was once a really old doll and it may sound stupid but I felt like it was calling me over to it, but my mum said no it looks haunted. But nice collection🙂
Ooh yes, I highly recommend collecting allll the things! And that doesn't sound stupid at all, I totally get it. Honestly I think some things /do/ call certain people to them, especially if they're old and have a history to them. It's interesting you had that inclination to the doll, whilst your mum said it looked haunted. Do you think the two things might be connected at all? :o
I’m always happy to see someone still collecting oddities. It seemed to be a trend that fizzled out after 2015 when a certain show came to an end. Oddity hunting for life though! 😊
Always love seeing a fellow oddities collector around too! Interestingly I've had the opposite experience and have noticed it get hugely popular recently (at least here in australia). I think the Oddities Expo is a good measure of showing how big the hobby has gotten, especially compared to when I started collecting in 2011 😅 Oddity hunting for life!! 🙌🏻
@@CorvinSometimes Oooh, you're so lucky! I wish we had an Oddities Expo in the UK. The US ones look amazing, and I'm assuming your Aus ones too. We need to up our game over here! :)
I've actually never been to it but you're right! Maybe I should show some gratitude and check it out this year haha I'm surprised there isn't one in the UK too, I hope that changes soon so you can join in on the fun! 🦴
Your collection of perfectly interwoven "oddities" or more appropriately artifacts is both amazing and beautiful! Working on getting this far w/ my personal collection..Consider this to be an influential video!
Wow I’ve never seen such a beautiful collection! I started off young with oddities, so I’m eventually hoping to one day become a science teacher or biologist.
I don't know about where you're at but in the US owning a corvid is pretty illegal. The US has the Migratory Bird act which pretty much make it illegal to posses anything from most birds, and Europe has a similar law...and I mean even feathers
Don't worry, I'm in Australia! As long as you don't sell anything from a native corvid without a license, owning parts of one that were scavenged from legal areas is allowed 😊
cool collection. I'm just starting off with my collection. I'm 13 years old lol. I asked for a soft mount taxidermy coyote for my birthday. and my mom said she will let me look for animal skulls. if I can find someone to take me, because I know my mom won't, I want to go roadkill hunting and pick up decent roadkill, and if it's good looking I could try my own taxidermy
Thank you! :) A soft mount coyote would be so amazing and beautiful, I want one too! haha That's so nice that your mum is supportive of you collecting oddities (especially in their raw form - as roadkill)! I wish you both all the best in finding some awesome specimens :D
Your room must be so filled with energy. It´s said that bones hold a "memory" attached to the spirit.

I've recently started really putting energy into my own oddity collection- your video was a huge inspiration!
Blessed be :)

Doesn’t apply to the UK either. You can own taxidermy specimens from the corvid family. Well done for being concerned however.

Love your collection. What's with the cop memorabilia. Are you in law enforcement. If so that is amazing.
Okay, first off, this is an awesome collection! One question, where did you get the human skull?
Thank you so much! Sadly the human skull is a replica. I bought it off of my brother in law but I've got no clue where he got it from 💀
@@CorvinSometimes oh I got it, thanks!
Having said that, you can buy ex-medical skulls from Curiosities from the 5th Corner and a few other online sellers.
How does one become so cool?
I'm afraid I still don't know 😆💚
Lovely i have lots of this & sell it on my Etsy account,
