One very precious piece of advice I got: prioritize the older one when you can, because she is the one who notices / remembers it if she always comes second. I often said "Wait a minute, Clara, I have to give Anna her snack" to the baby. I said it to the baby but it actually was so that the older one felt important too. It helped a lot.
Loving the baby and being jealous are two separate things-if she gets jealous you will notice because she will act out with you and Rich. Our first LOVED her new baby sister from the start and was protective of her- so we thought she was not jealous. Then we noticed she was acting up in a way she never did before with us. (Around the baby's second month) She was still lovely to her sister, just a little bit of a pain to us. 🤪 Once we figured this out we gave her lots of positive attention and it was ok. Now they are 4 and 7 and best friends. ❤️🌹
Completely agree. The first time was so stressful, the c-section, the new baby… the second time was lovely, zero stress as you already know what to do and you can really enjoy the newborn stage ❤️

Really appreciate your comment that “every name has a thing.” We’re trying to come up for a name for our baby due in April and I’m getting so tired of comments about what a name rhymes with or how it could be shortened to something ugly. It’s so true that no name is safe!! & Rudy is a lovely name I never thought of the rude thing until you said it hahaha

I loved pregnancy and birth, but had the hardest time postpartum and didn’t enjoy the newborn stage. I really want a 2nd one but oh boy does it feel scary to go through that again. Thank you for showing that you can have a more positive experience second time around. You are lucky that Grey seems to like Rudy. My nephew was a similar age when his sister was born, he completely avoided Mum and the new baby. He became extremely clingy to my brother.
I loved this video, so positive. I am 13 weeks pregnant with my 2nd after having my first baby by IVF (was always told I couldn't conceive naturally so a big shock). My son is now 8 and I am so nervous, I feel like it's my first baby all over again as it has been so long. This has helped me a lot, thank you. Congratulations!
I had my second baby on 10th November and am having such a similar experience in terms of it being so much easier! I keep finding myself laughing to myself (like a crazy lazy) about how happy I feel, while with my first I did a lot of crying. Long may it continue for us both :)
Yes! With my first I had postpartum depression, she was crying all the time and barely napping, I was miserable and just thought this was what motherhood looked like. My second was much more chill but also I didn't have depression. She also napped regularly and I finally discovered what it was to have an enjoyable (although exhausting and VERY sleep-deprived) experience of having a baby. I do think if someone had a baby like my first was as a second that would be a big shock to the system. But generally it's just not as big of a transition from 1-2. (unless your kids are crazy close together in age - than I imagine it would be worse.)

There are a few (ex-) footballers with that name, Gullit, Van Nistelrooy, Krol, radio DJ De Wild, former PM Lubbers, the very first Big Brother (which is a Dutch show originally) had a Ruud. In Germany it tends to be Rudi with a i, footballer Völler, and Dutch entertainer Carrell who ended up having a huge presenting career in Germany, and who sang the Dutch versio of 'A windmill in Old Amsterdam'. Oh, and my very first boyfriend in primary school was a Rudy, too, though I am sure he now goes by Ruud. Haven't thought of him in years. ;)

With the 2nd I discovered how much newborns actually sleep, my first was up for hours at a time and napped very little (and cried a lot). A calm second who slept a lot felt like such a luxury. (still woke up a ton at night though)

You look so good and so positive ;-) Totally agree with you. Mentally it was so much easier second time around. I had an emergency c-section this time (2nd child) and can't even imagine how hard it must have been to lift a 2 year old. We have a daughter (4 yr old now) and a son (almost 2) and it is WILD. She is a girly girl, playing with Barbie and dress-up, and he is just a real wild boy, jumping around, climbing on furniture and playing with cars (they also play together, but if they play by themselves it's totally boy vs. girl). But at the same time they just love each other, cuddle and kiss, and my daughter just told me yesterday while I was reading her a nighttime-book, that she just loves having a little brother.
SO lovely to see you back Lily! And so chuffed for you that things are different and in such a positive way. We’ve got 4 year old twin girls and our third on the way during summer. Hoping for some of these positive vibes my way xx

I also have older girl and younger boy (they are teens now) and I can tell you that once you pass the first year crazy logistics, they will start to play together and it is so much easier then having one kid. My baby is 15 months and always wanted to have 2, but gosh, what a year I just had! So hard, such a transformation as for you. So now that I am starting to feel me, I am scared to go for the second one. But his video gave me hope as I feel kind of similar to you in this maternity journey. So glad to see you are so happy! ❤️
I feel like as long as you don't have them too close together it will be fine. It was incredibly hard with my first, especially the first 2 years. After that, I started to feel ready. My daughters are 3 years apart and it's the perfect age gap to me. Not to say for someone else it couldn't be a closer age gap, but with all the parents around me I can see those who had two under two (or just an age gap of 2 years +/-) struggled WAY more with the transition from 1-2. My kids are 4 and 7 and they are best friends but also far enough apart that when the baby came, the older one had a degree of independence.

She is a girly girl, playing with Barbie and dress-up, and he is just a real wild boy, jumping around, climbing on furniture and playing with cars (they also play together, but if they play by themselves it's totally boy vs. girl). But at the same time they just love each other, cuddle and kiss, and my daughter just told me yesterday while I was reading her a nighttime-book, that she just loves having a little brother.

Rudy is so cute!!! So happy for you and your family. I also have older girl and younger boy (they are teens now) and I can tell you that once you pass the first year crazy logistics, they will start to play together and it is so much easier then having one kid. The sound is good and can't wait to see how the loft turned out!

My baby is 15 months and always wanted to have 2, but gosh, what a year I just had! So hard, such a transformation as for you. So now that I am starting to feel me, I am scared to go for the second one. But his video gave me hope as I feel kind of similar to you in this maternity journey. So glad to see you are so happy! ❤️
I feel like as long as you don't have them too close together it will be fine. It was incredibly hard with my first, especially the first 2 years. After that, I started to feel ready. My daughters are 3 years apart and it's the perfect age gap to me. Not to say for someone else it couldn't be a closer age gap, but with all the parents around me I can see those who had two under two (or just an age gap of 2 years +/-) struggled WAY more with the transition from 1-2. My kids are 4 and 7 and they are best friends but also far enough apart that when the baby came, the older one had a degree of independence.
