    Great video, I will have to look into the Inkbird sensors when I build a keezer or kegerator, I wonder are they submergible, could you put one into a jockey box and have it report the temp there so you know when to add more ice?

    • @BitterRealityBrewing
      @BitterRealityBrewing  2 года назад +1

      Use a regular inkbird to regulate your temps but this is nice to see ambient temps and to give you a heads up if something is going south with alerts to your phone even when you aren't home.

      Yes but ambient of course. I was shocked to see my fridge and freezer during the defrost cycle go up 8 to 10 degrees each time.

    Great video about the remote Inkbird sensors. I have a handful of the Govee sensors that I bought a few years ago. I use them for remote temp and humidity monitoring. Remote sensing with the alarms is a great way to keep tabs on things before you have a problem on your hands.

    • @BitterRealityBrewing
      @BitterRealityBrewing  2 года назад

      Fully agree and almost bought the Govee sensors but it came down to price and that I was familiar with other inkbird products.

    The temps are off by a couple of degrees and so are the humidity readings. Also, they are next to impossible to monitor outside the home. Returning mine. Cheers.

    • @BitterRealityBrewing
      @BitterRealityBrewing  Год назад

      That really sucks and I'm truly sorry to hear that. I can monitor mine from offsite, not sure if maybe your firewall is blocking yours. I know the temps are usually +/- 1F to 2F (from what I've tested when I first got them) which isn't too bad for me. As for the humidity, I don't have anything to verify the accuracy of the humidity info. I recently realized about 2 weeks ago that they included a magnet in each. (Not sure how I missed that.)

    I watched this video before buying this setup. You saved me about an hour of frustration with the Wi-Fi. Thanks!!!
    I got a bunch of these to test how effective my double glazing installation will be, what rooms are least efficient, and balancing the radiators.
    There are some annoying points about the Bluetooth/Wi-fi mix. The main one being that the naming and settings are not linked. I'm guessing they're 'local' and not on the devices e.g. I change the name via Bluetooth, but the Wi-fi doesn't reflect this. Same with the offsets. I am also concerned about the added power consumption.
    There's also no easy way to use this on my computer. So, I have to download the .csv and send them to my laptop for checking. That's a little annoying.
    However, these little things are gems. The cost me about £9 each (buying in bulk). I got the gateway for a novelty, but you don't really need it at all - unless you need alerts.

    • @BitterRealityBrewing
      @BitterRealityBrewing  2 года назад

      I'm happy I missed replying to this as I have an update of my own also now. First I'm happy I could be of assistance. You mentioned the double glazing, rooms, and radiators? What exactly are you using them for, if you don't mind me asking as I'm a little confused what you are testing.
      The naming is a local app thing and is simply translating the MAC Address of the device to the name you give it locally.
      As for the alerting that is my #1 reason for having these as I sometimes turn my Keezer off during videos and forget to plug it back it so this can alert me. And the #1 reason that got me to buy these a was my beer Freezer is really old (and second hand) so it brakes occasionally and it froze up originally which is why I bought these. Well, this weekend my freezer temps started alerting and ...guess what it froze up again. I was able to fix it temporarily until I can get a replacement part which will be here in a few days. Essentially these little inexpensive devices can help me save frozen stuff and from losing some of my yeast bank that I have staying very cold to save money from always buying fresh yeast.

      I am testing the efficiency of adding double-glazing in my house, which rooms experience the greatest heat loss, and the heat balance of the radiators

  • @theMasion

    Great video. im in the UK just brought the same kit but with 4x IBS-TH1 sensors, which also allow you to plug in a supplied remote temp probe!! that might help if using for a fridge freezer or cold room (unit outside / probe inside!). added bonus is each probe shows its onboard temp value and the plugged in probe!! nice oh and humidity to boot.. ;)

    • @BitterRealityBrewing
      @BitterRealityBrewing  Год назад +1

      Thank you for the kind words. I'm happy to hear you've had good results. My sensors are just starting to alert me on low battery levels but once I move to my new house I will probably be ordering another controller and more sensors. The sensors without the humidity monitoring were awful as they had no range compared to the others with humidity monitoring.

      I understand as I have 2 of the 308 series and another with a really long probe but when I started researching I found a few brands and there was one that did get a lot better reviews but was just under $500 for 4 sensors so I felt the Inkrbird was worth the gamble and so far it is proving to be very worth it.

      I was upset and frustrated so for $110 to cover 4 sensors I felt it was worth it. I have learned a lot in only 1 week of playing with them. I've learned my beer fridge and freezer go up almost 10 degrees in F when going through its frost free heating process. My Keezer is 32 to 34 F at the bottom and 54 to 59 F at the top of the kegs meaning my mid-temps are 44 F (aprox) and if I'm using a dip tube, I'm pulling warmer beer while a dip tube would pull a colder beer but a hint of yeast/trub of course.

    Hi! Thanks for your video. Just have a question. What happens when the TH2 sensors get disconnected to the M1 gateway for some time? If the TH2 sensors get reconnected to the M1, will the M1 show in the app the data the TH2 sensors recorded during when it was disconnected to the M1 gateway? Thanks!

    • @BitterRealityBrewing

      Sadly, I had this same issue after I moved. I had to reset everything and just reconnect each one of the sensors. It didn't take very long to fix.

      Sadly it does work for a lot of small wifi devices although most can eventually connect but I've actually heard of this with a laptop too. I just happen to have another device that I had a lot of issues programming the main board and was told this trick but didn't end up using it for that.

    • @BitterRealityBrewing
      @BitterRealityBrewing  Год назад +1

      I just had time to check these out and I'm impressed. These work great but as of my recent move I've had a few that finally needed battery replacements and getting them reconnected was a pain. I did notice that the Govee had issues when 5 Ghz was enabled too as these did. Thank you and I'll do a bit more research as having up to 10 monitors might be worth it as currently I am limited to 4 per gateway.
