Happy Holidays! Cheers to you and your family!
Nice video. How do you sanitize this system. I have this system but it costed me some time to get it leak free, especially the connections around the carbonation stone. Can you just purge starsan through it?
I've always just flushed it right after usage with a bit of Starsan and then some clean water. I guess if you use it a ton or and have some concerns you could run some liquid PBW through it before doing the Starsan. After, I clean things like that, kegs, and fermenters, I always do what I call the sniff test after the equipment has dried. If I smell anything, I clean it again. (Sours and Smoked beers are an exception as it can take a few users to completely kill those prolonged odors.)
Nice brew. Brewdog have some absolutely fantastic beers. Hoppy , punchy & full of flavour. Double Hazy Jane is a ball kicker !! Merry Christmas 🎅 & s prosperous new year
I was shocked at just how good this was and honestly felt it was better (in my opinion) compared to the official BrewDog Punk IPA. I'm doing Hazy Jane next but there will be a delay as I'm going beer event in Vegas and won't be able to start fermenting that until the 2nd half of Jan. Happy New Years! Looking forward to a great 2025! Enjoy and happy brewing!
@ I’ll look forward to that one ! Great beer. Enjoy LV 🙏👍🍺🍺 cheers
Grande
Take care of yourself!
I was having a lot of fun but kept getting winded and figured it was better to mention it than to stop and start the video repeatedly while I caught my breath. I can usually function in AFib, and I figure we all have health issues; some of us just learn at earlier ages than others. Cheers, and have an amazing New Year! Looking forward to some experiments and other things in 2025!
Looking forward to the taste test video! I have the Appalachian Mountain IPA fermenting in the Pinter now. Today is the start of cold crashing. My intuition would be to add the hop oil before the cold crash, but the instructions say to do it before conditioning. Hope I see your tips on hop utilization before it's time to cold crash!
Awesome, and just in case you have to add your hop extract before my 5 PM video, here is a major tip. If you insert it and it doesn't just drain into the beer try these two steps. 1. After inserting but not removing the hops extract bottle, try leaving it standing upright in the fridge for one night with the bottom connected standing up. (If you don't have the room, you can ship this step, of course.) 2. Leaving the hop extract bottle inserted, remove the bottom with the trub, this will create a small amount of suction, and you should suck the rest of the hop extract out, and then you can remove it too.
Today's video will be about how to get the hop extract out if it doesn't pour out on its own. Tomorrow will be the taste testing and I must say it is much better than the original BrewDog.
@@BitterRealityBrewing Great tips, thanks! I have the Brewdog IPA coming with my next monthly subscription order.
The 220v all come hardwired. On the 110v unplugs from the unit
I'm assuming you mean the U.S. versions or do you know if this was a change in the 4 to 4.1 versions world wide? I've seen 3 so far on videos on YT that I know are 220v that have removable plugs but they are all in other countries. Gavin from The Home Brew Network in channel in Australia showed it as removable but that was a version 4.0, and I can't say if the other 2 were 4.0 or 4.1 versions. Just not sure why that one is different based on location it is sold in, unless they modified it on the 4.1 version revision.
Merry Christmas Mike, 🍻
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Looking forward to a busy but very enjoyable 2025!
Merry Christmas, Mike!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!!! 2025 is going to be a great year!
I get it we've got a miniture schnauzer, a black lab (old guy) , & I think it's a labradoodle rescue from a wal mart parking lot. Looks similar to yours but grayish. And they all got squeeze toys for Christmas. You need to make something with 20.25 pounds of grain for the new year. It will just fit in the anvil 10.5 Merry Christmas!
Love the 20.25 grain bill idea! Sadly our previous pooch was a mini Schnauzer. And yes Finn (we call him Finny as he is super lovable and kind to people and other dogs), is 25% Poodle (like your labradoodle) and 75% Wheaten Terrier which they call a "Whoodle". Very sad anyone would leave their poor dog behind, even in a WalMart parking lot where they could get run over, just very sad. I'm happy to hear you gave him a place to call home. I always want to rescue more dogs, but these two keep me very busy with one having anxiety and the other being attached at my hip as my best bud.
The graduated sight glass will help when sparging because you can't see the markings on the inside ! The malt pipe will be in the way. I've used the heat exchanger plate plus the Bluetooth thermometer option since day one. I would thoroughly recommend them both. Fortunately I'm in the UK, so we get the two stage lift on The malt pipe.🍻
Great input and thank you. Making me feel good about the extra purchases. Kee at KegLand and Gavin on The Home Brew Network were really talking those items up a lot, plus the jacket of course.
Merry Christmas 🎅 My granddaughters name is Reilly lol
Merry Christmas! 🎄 Reilly is a great name, hopefully your granddaughter doesn't have the anxiety this one does. She is very smart and very stubborn. Finn is all about pleasing people and lives off affection even more than food or treats.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you
Merry Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Years! Looking forward to an amazing and busy year! 🍻
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays to you and your family! Looking forward to a new 2025 with many new adventures!
My 4.0 version 220v has the mid way hooks...interesting.
I thought I saw them on the 4.1 220v version when it was first released but I am now seeing chatter in the forums back in Feb 2024 about a patent issue in the U.S.. So, they probably changed it around that time. I wish I bought it back 2 years ago when it was on sale, but I think that was version 4.0 which I don't see any major differences beyond a sight glass which I wouldn't have lost any sleep over. Looking at Canada online retailers and even on in the U.S., it appears I could get the double notched extended malt pipe, which sadly I also purchased without the extra notches. With the BrewZilla Expansion you are supposed to move the ring, but I'm thinking about buying a 2nd ring, as that would give me a mild 2-step when using the expansion as I'm told that can get really heavy.
Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays and thank you for the support.
Mike , i honestly feel when bringing out the mash pipe the 2nd row steps are just a bit of an overkill , great addition for the 65l version . i can easily pull the mash tun in the 35litre with ease and thats with a bad back . if it was so expensive to ship to the us i would have been more then happy to have sent you one bugga ey Also my advice is to change the pump and tubing around so from the drainage hole on the gen 4 goes directly to the spigot then to the pump. the reason why if you get grain or hops stuck in the recirculation pump you still have a way of easily getting the wort into the fermenter had this happen to me last brew day and thankfully i could use the spigot to save the day and Merry Christmas Mike
Merry Christmas, and I agree as I lift the one out of my Anvils without much effort, unless it is a large grain bill and my back is in any pain out of the usual. Plus, over the years I feel a lot of us have caught on that it is all about getting really good leverage to pull the malt pipes up nice and cleanly without killing ourselves. I do have plans for something hopefully by mid-2025 that might help in a couple ways to make lifting those malt pipes a breeze. (Lowering the brewing vessel from my high table, and possibly a pulley system.) I feel I really need that modification to do a few BIABs each year for the BIAB folks watching the channel.
I guess I was more surprised at the weight than being weak, maybe and I did have my BZ on a chair so the position was a bit precarious. I did manage to hold the malt pipe up from the wort for a bit to let it drain, then got it up to the highest resting station, even with foggy glasses. I was a bit worried that because it wasn't totally drained, and that since the new malt pipe also drains from the sides that it would go down the outside of my BZ. If there is a mess to be made, I'm usually pretty good at it. However, all went well, and no mess. That must be because I was in the garage and not the kitchen. If I had been in the kitchen there would have been a mess for sure (and mad wife consequences to deal with). Next time I may hook up and line up with my pulley. Having two rest stations might be overkill but for some reason I feel like I should get a discount. Kind-of like when you do self check out at the store. I guess it's just me. To be fair, it was disclosed before I purchased on the web site. I have seen a RUclips or two about re-routing the pump hose. It seemed like clogs happened on hoppy brews like the WC IPA I just did. However, I also used the new heat dissipation plate the forces the wort to the outside of the kettle instead of down the middle where the drain is AND I used the whirlpool arm to see if anything left would be forces to the center during the boil. There was more trub than I thought that there would be on the dissipation plate but not much on the kettle bottom, certainly not enough for a clog. Just to be safe I'll re-route the pump tubes before the next batch. Happy New Year Michael.
You can pop that spring out pretty easily. There’s a slight knack to it but it’s nbd. I use a short broad flat blade screwdriver to assist lever the end out of the groove while controlling it with the other hand on the nearest grab-able section. I’ve heard of people cutting a couple of mm off the end to make it easier but imho that’s unnecessary and maybe dangerous
Yeah, I'm thinking about ordering a spare for the expansion part that allows you to brew larger batches so I don't have to fight with it. On the GrainFather it had a small gap to make it easier to remove by hand. The Anvil did too, but that one just sat on an edge which made it a little dangerous.
I guess my name is "somebody" now...LOL (you're welcome). I really wanted the two stage resting station on my malt pipe. Thinking of having a local welder add these for me. I did my first batch a few days ago and was surprised how much the wet grains weighed. I was not ready to hook up my pulley so I held the grains while they drained and finally put it to the top station where it drained before I did my sparge. WC IPA in the fermenter now and looking good! Holding steady at 10 psi almost ready to pressure transfer. Hopefully ready for New Years.
LOL, Thank you. I usually don't call people out, good or bad, unless they want me to. I figured you would check this out and get a kick out of it. Can't believe I missed the damage, but I'll work to fix that with a few pushes on both sides. Love a great WCIPA. Some viewers are suggesting to order the malt pipe from Canada, as I really was crossing my fingers the 240v might come with it, but sadly as you saw, that was not the case.
@@BitterRealityBrewing No worries. Just thought I'd give you a hard time. Happy New Year.
Pretty sure morebeer gives you the chiller tubes for free you have to put them in the cart and add a code at checkout
Great Info, and thanks for the heads up. Although I didn't know, I'm good as I highly prefer using my Jaded Brewing Scylla immersion chillers as they outperform any included SS chillers I've ever used since they are both copper and technically 3 immersion chillers in one. (Plus, I have tubing and connectors if I really want to use it for testing purposes.)
@ they did for the 3 I’m not sure on this one but it was in the description on the other ones.
aah that sucks for the malt pipe, perhaps you can instead buy one from a Canadian retailer as the version I just bought here does have the mid level stops your looking for. Oh and I think only the 110 has a removable plug. Also the screw that comes with the heat exchanger is longer and holds them both together, and the legs from the original false bottom are still the only points of contact to the heating element at the bottom of the unit.
The ones in Australia and the UK that are on 220/240 also appear to be removable. Maybe in the U.S., they have some strange safety concerns as our government tries to protect us from ourselves, as we have a fair amount of Darwin award winners here in the States. Getting it from Canada would be a lot cheaper for shipping compared to where I found it in Asia.
Im in Canada. Can confirm that they have the double feet. Granted I have a Gen 4.0 and not 4.1,........ Sucks that your maltpipe doesn't have it. I use mine every Brew as the lower feet help tremendously.
I am trying to work with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute to build inexpensive vegetable coolers using Ecoshell domes which are insulated. The only controller I had found that claims to work with an A/C is something invented in Delhi at Amity University called CoolBot. I am assuming that this controller works similarly. Cooling fin sensor to prevent icing up, etc.?? Costs are quite different though. Coolbot is $634 + Intl shipping, that is beyond the budget of a marginal farmer..
Yes, sadly the Coolbot is without question the best for using with a window A/C unit that you are trying to override the temp control. If you google there are some hacks out there using the InkBird and other systems, but I did a bunch of research on it a few years ago, and to me, the Coolbot was the best solution. Sometimes you can pick them up on sale or even used off eBay or like location. Sorry I wasn't able to save you some money on that.
The etymology of the word ‘dinkum’ leads to English dialects. Apparently it means ‘work’. In Australia the common phrase is ‘fair dinkum’ which means true, genuine, honest, no lie. Sometimes used as an affirmation ie “he’s fair dinkum about this”. Other times used as a question, much like “are you kidding?” So fair drinkum is a little play on that implying some degree of honesty and authenticity and probably an absence of BS.
I just went from thinking it was a cute Aussie thing, to actually really liking that saying a LOT. Thank you, that was a great bit of information! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
Cheers, guys. Have a great show.
Thank you, but it was for another channel that did an interview of me and many other home brewers with more to come.
It was so awesome to meet up. with @JaDeDBrewing, @BEERNBBQBYLARRY, and @BitterRealityBrewing in Lafayette-definitely a highlight for us, too! A warmer meet-up next time sounds like a fantastic idea! Let’s make it happen. Until then, keep brewing friends!
It was awesome and I had a great time, including watching the snow fall as I got really cold and a bit wet (not something a Floridian thinks about when seeing snow...the cold and melting snow becoming water.) We had a great time and will be looking forward to an amazing 2025 for everyone!
Nice haul. I have the gen 4 and can’t wait to hear your thoughts and working through learning the system. I love it
I'm excited but first need to figure out how the heat plate is installed. I think I've figured it out, but want to double check before I brew on it. Looking forward to brewing on it to see all the pros and cons. Plus, I'm really wondering about brewing larger batches for split batches with the add-on expansion pipe and malt pipe.
Mike! That was a great time in Lafayette for sure! So good to meet you face to face! Funny how Larry and I were talking about you as we were in Blichmann's parking lot. Then we went inside and..THERE'S MIKE!! Maybe the next meet-up is somewhere warmer 🤔
LOL! Yep, it was very cold, especially for someone who is a Floridian and was easily amazed just watching the snow fall. I complain about the heat from time to time in Florida, but I promise you can never freeze to death in Florida, at least not outside. Plus most of Florida has that lovely beach breeze without paying for beach front property due to all the flat land.
Nice! Looking forward to see a brew day comparison between Anvil and Brewzilla. Is one faster or easier than the other. Keep up the great work!!
I'm going to get a few brews under my belt before doing a big comparison, but I know I'll probably be doing lots in my heads as I go through my first few brew days with the BrewZilla. Looking forward to brewing on the system.
Hi, I’ve been following your channel for a while now and have really enjoyed it. I’m a new brewer and I also have the brewzilla gen 4.1 with the same accessories and have put down a couple of brews with varying results (not the equipment, just me still working it out) so I’m looking forward as to how you use your setup. Eagerly anticipating the next episode. Cheers.
I will be brewing with it as soon as possible as I really like to learn new things and new equipment. Although, I will do a few brews before going crazy, I am looking forward to doing larger batches with the expansion parts for future split-batches. Thank you for the support, and I really did buy this system with the add-ons for viewers just like yourself as I want to ensure I'm relating to as many home brewers as possible and I know the BrewZilla system has a large market in the U.S. and an even larger market internationally.

For some reason your comment showed up twice, but all good. I'm looking forward to brewing on this system too. Thank you again for the support.
Feels like Christmas morning watching this video! 🙂
As you get older, I've learned the best way to get gifts during the big holiday sales is to simply buy what you want and/or need. (You just can't leave family out or they will hold it against you. 😎)
Yeah, glad to see the Brewzilla, I just bought mine in December, and also love the Rapt Pill, and temp controller. They really offer a big bang for the buck.. very affordable. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned. I'm hoping you do a deep dive into 'gravity velocities'. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and the family.
Beyond the science, learning new things and new equipment is my #2 favorite thing in home brewing. Although I love my Anvil Foundry systems, I'm very excited to try another system that I know a lot of my viewers own and looking to learn from both my experiences and from the viewers too. Merry Christmas🎄 and Happy New Year!
I wish you did a review of Clawhammers brewing system.
Would love to. I did have a local guy who came over and brewed with me, who owns a ClawHammer system, but he's gone silent on me ever since the brew day (I think his wife got mad at him for brewing all day😂). I'm crossing my fingers to find another local with one, to bring over for a brew day.
So nice to have a business where you can write off your hobby 😅
Yeah, sadly, I still spend a bit more than what comes in, but the support is awesome and greatly appreciated. To keep the IRS happy last year, I lied and showed them I made a $1 just to keep from getting audited for being negative more than 2 years in a row. Pretty sad when you have to lie to a government agency, showing you made money that you didn't just to keep them from harassing you. (Our tax lady is a 20-year retired IRS Auditor, so we take her recommendations to heart.😎)
I bottle and fill growlers with the Blichmann beer gun. Easy and works great
I loved the Tapcooler even with its very minor issues, until it started having issues, so I bought a few replacement parts assuming it was simple wear. Sadly I got to the point where I had to replace it.
What a great time to be a homebrewer. Time to watch the wet bandits vs kevin. And have a homebrew. Merry Christmas you filthy animal. 👍
😂🍻😂😎 Love that movie! Watched both the original and the Home Alone II while I was in Chicago. Even took my wife to an "Elf" bar in downtown Chicago, which made her year as they had an actor that did an amazing job of imitating Will Ferrell from his character as Elf. (And yes, when I watch home alone I & II, I cry from laughing my backside off!)
@@BitterRealityBrewing Look what ya did, you little jerk. There's no singing in the north pole. Make work your favorite.
Glad to see that you got a BZ4.1 and got in on sale. I know we were talking about it during black Friday and appreciated your up to the minute sale watch. I got in on it too. I got the jacket and the heat exchanger just like you did but not the RAPT thermometer until I see if the PID works good enough. Now I'm thinking that I have to have one! I had seen some chatter about folks that had pump clog issues on batches with a lot of hops. I plan on using the BZ hop spider, the heat exchanger probably helps also but I got the BZ whirlpool arm as well. I set up my controller settings yesterday and have a first clean/brew day planned for the rest of the day. West Coast IPA coming up. Cross your fingers. Curious to see if you got the U.S. malt pipe or the European malt pipes. Apparently, there was a U.S. patent on having two rest stations instead of just one. The U.S. malt pipes only have one station to rest the gain basket at the top of the kettle to drain vs. having the other one that's half way up. I kink-of miss the lower station. We'll see today if lifting the grain to the top to drain is a PIA.
Wow! That was great info, as I didn't know mine might not have the 2nd rest station, as I was actually looking forward to that, as that was a brilliant design addition, especially for us older guys. (My back has seen much better days.) As for the PID, I'm still going to play around with it, but Gavin from the Home Brew Network channel said that the support folks at Kegland told him to stop using the PID function. I haven't even taken my system out of the box 100%, as I want to do an unboxing video. I always find that some viewers want to know exactly what comes out of the box based on the model and version. Things always change over time, and sometimes you open a box and don't see something, but when you see others with the same equipment, and they don't have whatever you may have been looking for, it puts you at ease. If they do, you then go crazy, thinking you must have missed it in your box and wondering if you threw it away with the box. 😂 I broke a box down recently and found something under all the packing, which I almost threw away myself.
One of the key contributors to grapefruit’s unique aroma is a terpene called nootkatone. D-Limonene will be the dominant/strongly selected for terp in most of the "citrus" hops. And of course, your citrus fruits.
Awesome to know, as I love Grapefruit and have a bit of an allergy to Oranges, thank god it isn't to Grapefruit. Now, I just need to figure out how to isolate that from food for myself. 😂
@@BitterRealityBrewing I too have a fondness for Grapefruit. Of all the citrus fruits, I think it is the most pleasant aroma, although it's also the most bitter. I just think it goes really well with fizz. I don't have the same issue about oranges as you, but I do like a good ol' Fla. Sunkist, and Lemon & Lime are pretty regular on our grocery list, but I still go for the Grapefruit flavor whenever I'm grabbing something. Do you remember Wink? I loved that pop as a kid.
Nice splurge btw. I was eyeing a Brew Built 3 port Fermentor, If I were to spend 2 large on a piece of steel, that would likely be it. The question is: 1 big one, or 2 smaller ones?
Nice, and I feel like Brew Built is doing a good job of keeping their pricing under control. As for 1 big one or 2 smaller ones, it really depends on your batch sizes. If you are all about brewing big batches without splitting them, then the big one is usually more cost-effective for the unit and any add-ons. If you prefer to do smaller batches or a lot of split batches where you are pitching different yeasts and/or using different dry hops or finishing spices based on the beer style, then the two smaller ones make a lot more sense, but will of course, cost more in the long run with all the add-ons. I personally used to do lots of 6-gallon batches and ferment 5-gallons on one yeast and toss an odd yeast on the remaining 1-gallon. Sadly, sometimes, the 1-gallon was a lot more enjoyable than the 5-gallon batch. I did one of my earlier pumpkin beers that way and tossed a Saison WLP-565 on the 1-gallon, and it was really good compared to the London ale yeast that was my go-to for many years for that beer. A great example is Ballast Point's Pumpkin Ale with Scotch Ale yeast, I'm far from a fan of most Scotch Ales, but it actually worked really well and was very enjoyable.
@@BitterRealityBrewing Agree. I looked at their site, and I was bracing myself for the prices, but it didn't knock me out of my chair by any means. For such a substantial and well built piece of stainless engineering, I might have expected to slice off 25-30% more than what they actually are charging for their latest designs, too. Those things really are pro-brewer quality, by all appearances.
Terpenes including _humulene_ are the compounds in plants, fruits, vegetables, etc that give flavor and aroma. Terpinoids & flavanoids are popular among many craft communities. Essential oils, brewing, cannabis, etc. Humulene is the main Terpene in hops. ( *_Humulus Lupus_* ) Often in Cannabis Caryophyllene is the dominant. I'm interested to ask a breeder if they have selected for a Humulene strong variety. And Vice versa, A Caryophyllene strong hop variety. I think that would make an awesome West coast. (and hop extract)
I know about Humulene as a type of oil in hops but didn't realize they were referred to as "Terpenes". I've seen how to extract essential oils, but the process always looks far from cost effective and very time consuming.
@@BitterRealityBrewing Yes, not to mention the amount of product in per 1 unit out is astronomical, so that's why extracts are generally more expensive. The upside tho, is all but eliminating the biomass, cleaning up the process, and less storage managment issues. You get the isolates, and thus eliminate utilization variables, or considerably reduce them.
Morning.. I just got done telling my wife. "I need to buy more brewing crap, it's not for me. It's for the neighbors" since they come over when I'm brewing in the garage... 🤕🤬. I think it well pretty well. I'm alive and my 0 new troops for my arsenal. 🍻, can't wait to see the new content.
Not sure why your comment got held by RUclips, but I just released it. Thank you for the support, and I have a lot of things planned for 2025 and have purchased even more that isn't in this video, such as very special grains that are far from common.
Was good time indeed. Nice to meet you and your wife. The museum of Science and Industry is a great place to visit. Just not on their free day. Gets way too crowded. 😊
Nice to see your still alive :)
I fully agree, as I really enjoyed meeting you and Clay in person, plus all the other great folks who could make time to be there. The nice older gentleman with the 3 - 15 gallon system in his back shed was very entertaining with his slightly long story, as he seemed to take everything to the next level. I didn't even know they had a free day, but I'm a huge WWII buff, and to see and actually go inside a U-Boat was like a bucket list checkbox for me. Now you've got to actually do a video brewing on the Anvil 18-gallon! 😎
@@Ctharth123@Ctharth123 I can certify I saw him up and alive and having a good time. No AI was involved.
I also just got back from upper wisc. And yeah, damn cold. I was drinking point beer by Charlie. A pre prohibition recipe. Very nice beer. I think Blichmann is a great company. And I've been very happy with all my purchases. And I have my eye on more things in the near future. Sounds like you had fun.
Too funny that you were in Wisconsin as I saw two really old friends just north of Chicago and one is originally from Wisconsin. The cold was crazy, but it started to warm up just before I left. I will tell you the #1 think I absolutely love about Blichmann/Anvil when I visit. They act like a family and treat everyone like family which I was blown away by during my first visit earlier in the year. They even had a local brewery where the owner/brewer hurt his shoulder (pretty badly), and Blichmann staff went to the brewery and helped brew his beer for him with the owner/brewer just instructing on how to brew his beers. What company does that!?!? It was amazing to hear how much they look out for each other, and their local customers.
I did. 😆
🍻🤣I'm guessing "I Did" means you knew... Happy Holidays and Cheers!
@BitterRealityBrewing yeah. 🍻
My 2nd 10 5 foundry should be here Sunday. My old one won't heat anymore. Had it for 5 years and brew at least once a week. Love it
Awesome to hear. Sorry to hear it died, but sounds like you got your ROI. I'm not sure how old my oldest Anvil is, but it definitely has some miles on it and my recirculation pump for my original one gave out early this year. I was impressed the pump went that long as I put some wear on it without question. BBQ Larry got an 18 gallon version of the Anvil, so he might have to drop us a few more videos in the future.
@@BitterRealityBrewing my pump also went. Got my money's worth. Would you get another one of those
@@jerrywofford242 That is how I felt.
Hi, how do you compare between the pinter and IGulu systems? I have been using the pinter for about a month now and have had some good results with my first two brews. I am thinking of also getting the IGulu system, I have their show room 20 minutes from my home and stopped i. For a demonstration i have to say I was impressed, plus with the holiday discounts i cant get the complete kit 4 brew packs and master card for 550.00 out door. Whatsyour thought.
The Pinter is simply a very well designed fermenter but doesn't have temp control, and requires very specific yeast. The iGulu in my opinion is a great step into home brewing if you are o.k. with only doing 1 gallon batches. I did 1 Gallon batches for a few years before getting into 5 gallon batches which isn't for everyone. The iGulu is a very advanced system that handles a lot of things the most home brewers don't do very well until years of brewing which is another part that I really like about the system. You can start by using their kits, and then if you decide you want to brew your own beers, you can easily do 1 gallon batches with two basic cooking pots and a colander. This video is a great example of leveraging the iGulu to brew custom brews - ruclips.net/video/o1-na_vQQ70/видео.html The temp control is the most important part of home brewing and the iGulu does an amazing job at this on a 1 gallon scale. The tap system with using air (for quick serving the entire keg) or the CO2 for serving beer of a duration of days or weeks is a huge bonus. I've got a ton of cool brews and experiments coming in 2025 to the channel, where I will be using the iGulu for the fermentation and serving of these brews. I will even be using and modifying both iGulu kits and other 3rd party kits to see how they come out. The key will be the quality of those kits as the iGulu fermentation does its part better than most systems could imagine.
@BitterRealityBrewing thank you so much for your reply, very helpful
@@dinofernandez3499 I try to be as unbiased on the products as possible and conscious that money doesn't grow on trees and everyone has their own budgets. I really love brewing from scratch, but I also love the flexibility the iGulu systems and have been working hard to show people how they can fit together in the home brewing world.
I just upgraded from a 1 gallon on the stove setup to a Northern Brewer Gigawort, Craft a brew Catalyst fermenter and a 2 keg kegco keg setup all brand new for a total of $400.00. I am excited to use it.
That is a sweet deal! I remember doing a ton of 1 gallon - stove and outdoor burners. I still enjoy going back to those. I'm not sure if you are doing full AG, partial AG, or extract, but I bet you could easily get a nice BIAB for that Gigawort and do 5-gallon all-grain batches with the 4.4 capacity and top it off with a calculation to adjust for the OG. Awesome to hear. Kegging can seem like a rabbit hole in costs, but eventually, it comes with a lot of rewards. No priming (less o2 exposure), pour only the amount you want to enjoy or try, friends can help themselves (with you in the room, of course), no bottling unless you want to, and bottling off the keg so no yeast in the bottom of the bottles. Congrats! Let me know what your first brew will be!
@@BitterRealityBrewing I will be doing all grain BIAB. I hoping to do a New Years Day brew.
at what point do you add the gelatin doing brewing?
Just before you transfer your finished "fermented" beer to the keg, you add your dissolved gelatin to a keg and purge it with CO2. Then you transfer your finished beer into the keg with the gelatin and then cold crash and carbonate it.
Hey. I will admit. I'm not into Igulus but of course will watch video anyways. Did see you, Clay and Larry himself on one of his post... Hiding content from us 😂? Hope you had fun at Blichmann.
Not yet, but thank you for giving me a heads up as I just got back from Chicago late last night. I'll be playing catchup over the next few days. 😎 I see the iGulu as a great tool for 1-gallon brewers and a nice intro for people not looking to deep dive into brewing like people like BBQ Larry and myself.
Omg... enough with the damn Igulu crap.. hope they are paying you lots cuz I'm 1 more of these videos from unsub.. everyone else says it's avg at best dosent come close to what I've seen u do well at all grain I don't need a video on throw shit in a cooler wait 2weeks and drink we are not dumb asses Sorry for being to the point
I'm sorry, but I appreciate you speaking your mind as sadly most people don't have the courage to do that. I joke that every time I post a video on the iGulu or the Pinter, I watch a few of my subs go down, before going back up. I'm o.k. with that, as it is everyone's choice. Neither company is paying me to promote their products. I'm simply having fun and can appreciate any product that entices someone into considering home brewing at any level as a hobby. If you live near Jacksonville, FL, I'd be happy to purchase their Pale Ale for your personal review. Beyond that, the iGulu is an amazing "Ferment and Serving" system, not an All Grain Brewing System. I've got many experiments (involving All Grain brews) coming in 2025 (I've already purchased the specialty grains) where the iGulu will be a great tool in doing those tests. Not everyone who gets into home brewing wants to go full-blown 5 gallon all-grain, and for those people, there are niche areas where the iGulu and the Pinter can entice them into learning a little bit more about home brewing or craft beer. For that, I can truly appreciate those products and their impact on the hobby as a whole.
