  • We enter the park on foot in the popular rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and enjoy the scenery it offers on a beautiful sunny day. The national parliament of Iceland was founded here by vikings in the year 930.
    There were very few international tourists around when we visited this picturesque place in August 2020.
