Asking Newsom to drop gas taxes is ridiculous, never gonna happen until we get rid of him.
Newson here an Idea remove half the sale tax.
Why does CA need gasoline? You just need enough to fill the tank before you leave the state for good.
California with its elevated air quality standards requires stringent refinery requirements that are NOT met by refineries outside the state... which means when California refineries are down for any reason we cannot reach out to other refineries to fill the gap. Yes, the challenge can be met by having all Californians subsidize drivers which strikes me as patently unfair. The Republican proposals do that. The proposals from Democrats will in fact increase prices because it would be necessary to construct storage facilities and skim gasoline normally intended for the market to fill those tanks... limiting supply and increasing prices. This isn't rocket science. Another possibility would be to import gasoline that DOESN'T meet our environmental standards when there is a shortfall. We might also reassess those standards which were put in place decades ago when there was a serious problem with air pollution.
When travelling out of state, my vehicle ran really well for some reason... actual REAL gasoline. hmmmm
Refineries in Houston have the same requirements as California to feed other markets like Houston and Dallas Fort Worth.

If the Cali gas market was seperate from the American market, it feels like gas prices would be cheaper nationwide
California has policies that keep the gas prices high. Also start taxing on charging electric vehicles too, not only gas cars. Gas car drivers are not the only people using the road anymore.
Stop requiring Cali only blends!
