But inside the van was the Highway men. Was anybody out there at the gig at hammersmith (year escapes me now) when a bloke was waving a giant inflatable banana about pissing people off?
Lemmy stopped the music and said "can security get this cunt out of here 'cos people are here to enjoy themselves and he's pissing them off". Just as someone stuck a lit cigarette into it. Big cheer as it went very limp. Needless to say, there was no more banana. Brilliant!!!!

In a sense he was and arguably is, the most successful rock star of all times. Not only he lived through the rock star lifestyle until the age of 70, but he did so with the knowledge that most people had good things to say about him. If you haven't read his autobiography, "white line fever", do it, it's a blast.

"It should end with the clap of thunder and me vanishing off the top of the mountain leaving behind a plaque that says: 'Fooled you, again'. Something along those lines.
But, of course we can't afford the mountain, we can't afford the flash powder and we can't get the cameras up the slope so there you go. Can't have everything can you? Where would you put it?".

I do not support suicide but in this case I understand him. I was with my father for 1.5 years before he died. Noone should experience anything like this. His expression when he first saw it. He looked like he was going to break down. I had tears. It's okay, Mikkey.

Was good to be alive in the same era as Lemmy. He was part of my youth in the early 80s, then discovered he was the throbbing heart of Hawkwind, who i got into a few years before Motorhead. My fave Hawkind era tunes all featured Lemmy. A funny, intelligent man with a real heart, and a great legacy

How badass would it have been if they just posed it sitting down at the bar and it was just there forever. Like he never left.

Met Lemmy in the 80s along with the rest of the band, so lucky! Also been in the famous rainbow bar & grill in LA, Lemmy wasn’t there, spoke to the owner or manager, guy called Mario, it’s a cool place 👍

It's pretty moving when Mickey talks to the statue and says, "I miss you".... Met Lemmy long time ago. He was just as he is portrayed.. cool guy and down to earth with a huge presence.

I don't know who the owner or conglomerate who owns the Rainbow bar and grill but I would like say something. Thank you so much for honouring a man in his happy place, he was not just a musician to me, more a role model and a Father figure. You have done him proud and I thank you deeply and now want make a pilgrimage someday to LA from Scotland and get loaded in your bar on his behalf.......................
