    43:40, a bit of a timeline of how the split happened:
    S4 was supposedly initially approached by Evil Geniuses in secret sometime during the Birmingham Major to make the jump to their team.
    Fly finds out about this, and approaches S4 and EG and asks them to consider him as well.
    The hotel room meeting was several hours before OG had a flight to another tournament, the Chinese Supermajor. Fly and S4 leaving at that time ensured that OG had no time to search for replacements, and thus had to drop out of the tournament.
    Meanwhile, Fly and S4 were able to attend the Supermajor with EG's new roster.
    It was definitely quite a dick move. Even the Chinese fans, who are somewhat separated from Western Dota drama by the language barrier, also thought that it was a dick move.

    Fun fact, Jerax was basically unbeatable when playing earth spirit and made the heroes look insanely broken that the dev had to nerf it twice and making it unplayable at all in competitive scene at that time, he wasn't the only reason but he is mostly the source of it lmao

      then i watched a youtube highlight video on Jerax's ES and i was amazed by how broken it truly was..tried to copy his moves and then i understand how good he really was because it was freaking hard to master the hero
      also i think ES held the record of longest period of time where he was added to the game until the time he was added to captain's mode..it took them about two years of nerfing before devs believe that he was good enough for the pro scene

    Grubby - at 17:00, what he means is you can buy speed, you can buy height, in the context of when building a team, you can go pick up the Shaq, and you can go pick up the Allen Iverson and build a team around the traits from what players you want/can gather. In a Dota context, they just mean "we can 'buy' an aggressive mid, we can 'buy' a playcalling support" (ok so about 30 seconds after I made this comment, a chatter pointed this out. DotA 2 community doesn't call him traitor just because he left Johan lol They call him traitor because he left the team during international, right before 3 months of international like OG would have straight up dropped out from the TI, it was an narcissistic move I don't care about this friend or that but at least you need to have some human decency, he left them right before TI was going to start, and had fight with Yohan, just because he wanted to switch teams also after EG lost he in an interview smiled unto the camera and Said I hope LGD wins this TI and not OG. So yeah his narcissistic and self serving twisted nature wasn't liked by audience and also Cr1t from EG also S4 who's notorious for betraying every single team that relied on him all came together and EG became a hatred hub whilst OG was an underdog with new standins so now with these kind of stories and character it was perfect underdog disney movie, with it's villains for people to blame and it's hero for people to praise.

    17:20 mark, in sports, you indeed can buy strength, speed, height, etc. If you are an org with good budget, you have options to get your team a strong player, a tall player, a fast player, etc. depending on your budget and how much that player costs. This happens a lot in all of physical sports where say in basketball, if your team needs height, then you buy several players above 6'8 for example to help you out, thus buying height, same with speed, strength, etc.

Remember that whatever happens, if your heart isnt on the right place, its always bound to fail at some point. Every endeavor that you go on will fail if you dont put your heart in it.
    also Grubby is right. Theres no other way Fly can do it. If he wants it, he needs to do it. He sure does suffer the consequence now but thats also part of it. he did what he wants and even though the consequence of it afterwards was massive, he probably made peace with it.

    I liked grubbys pov on fly leaving og. You cannot call fly a traitor for leaving og. You have to understand that the team hit an all time low and fly realized that the team can no longer works and he needed a new approach on how to move forward. Maybe og would have worked out if he stayed, no one really knows as it did not happen. Fly did what he did at that time as he thinks that it was the good option at that time. I used to hate fly prior ti8 after the announced departure then gradually i came to understand and empathize with his reasons. Do not paint fly as the villain and move on.

    • @amplesstratleholm7609
      @amplesstratleholm7609 Год назад +7

      In strictly Dota terms, Fly made a good choice. OG was floundering. JerAx and S4 are still players he can count on, but carry Notail and Ceb in the midlane were falling behind, especially when you compare them to all the star core duos out there.
      Sumail and RTZ are among the best at their positions. Crit is a former teammate so Fly knows how he works. That group has a lot of experience in there. NA is a weaker region overall than WEU that even if EG goes through open qualifiers, they have a great shot of getting to TI. It just didn't pan out.
      Fly most likely knew that he's about to say something that will be incredibly hurtful, and S4 would have to follow Fly's lead in how he'll handle the message. That's probably why not much was said.
      Anyone who hasn't moved on should move on. Fly has already paid his penance when OG won the two TIs after he left. He's made his bed and is lying on it.

      @madtech5153 Год назад +2

      i agree on moving on but disagree on not calling out fly's action a traitorous act. its sad though that people have still not move on after 3+ years after OG winning TI8. OG pretty much ended the rivalry by winning TI since it was Fly's dream/goal. much better to do is to just ignore fly and let him do the thing he wants. TI9 was just a bonus to flaunt it towards fly (it feels good for notail without the intense hate towards fly anymore).
      pretty much like if you had an ex who cheated on you, you don't forgive her but you just ignore her and move on with your life. no chance of reconnection between the two and just move to their separate ways.

  • @reveriesend4668
    @reveriesend4668 Год назад +1

    That part where Ceb had them come to France was the reason why people treat Fly as a traitor. Ofc he knew going out that way would leave the organisation in a mess. Ok, maybe his heart wasn't there anymore. Sure. He should have told them that's the case, and he's going out, but not in a short shocking manner like some teenager heartbreak. Make time for his old org to slowly replace him, since the issue was clearly not just about you feeling you're no longer on the right place. (There's probably a bit of internal politics between them here, too, which I won't talk about).
    Doing this at this exact timing of OG's lowest point ever could have broken the organisation forever. Fortunately Ceb stepped up to... kinda power-grab OG via the hole Fly left. It was necessary, as NoTail clearly needed the time to heal and grow up.
    This whole TI8 OG story, in the end, turns out to be a story where this person named Johan Sundstein grows up to be a man.

    The Fly S4 situation is not too hard to follow imo.
    S4 at the time was one of THE biggest names in Dota 2, a prior TI winner who was considered one of the best mid laners in western hemisphere.
    He was disruptive to the team by all the comments about him from other team mates and hints that OG members have dropped.
    He seems like a nice guy, so I don't know what is the deal, but he has been accused of being snobbish by more than one team, it could also be his Swedish sensibilities (or lack of, considering we are not great at it here).
    So his presence gave the team a lot of prestige but it was also expected that he probably will not stay as he was constantly swapping teams after Alliance fell apart.
    Fly was not only the best friend, not only a part of the OG mindset, not only the captain but also the part owner of the team.
    And he either was told and tempted by S4 or found out that S4 is leaving, and got in contact with EG about joining them...WITHOUT giving the OG leads, team, his friend, anyone except S4 a heads up about his decision...right as the TI season was starting. This is extremely unprofessional because he isn't only a player, he also the captain, and co owner and his partner is the team manager and his partner is also going to exit the team with him.
    Here are pointers to take in:
    - If you are already going into a tournament with the prospect of you are about to head into a new team and play the next tournament with that team you sure as hell aren't going to be playing well with your current team, because you don't even care.
    - You are the captain, the captain is supposed to lead in the good times and bad times, for fuck's sake captains are synonymous with being expected to go down with the fucking ship, not bailing the moment they feel the pressure.
    - Your life partner is also involved with the team as the manager and is responsible for basically all the needs of the team, from being the contact person, to making sure the needs of the team are met, and she is also going to leave with you. AND YOU STILL ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE SURE THAT THE TEAM YOU CREATED IS GOING TO HAVE A BACKUP MANAGER WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO LEAVE FOR ANOTHER TEAM?
    - Also you don't sell your shares, but transfer it to your partner so that you still rake in the money from the team you are abandoning, effectively milking the cow till the last drop.
    - Not to mention, your best friend, the one you call your brother is in a vulnerable state in his personal life and you are fully aware of it.
    I don't know man, this isn't grey, this is very black and white, the man made a decision knowing his decision is going to sabotage the team.
    Why isn't anyone mad at S4?
    Ana has left the team abruptly multiple times, JERAX, Ana and Topson all are playing for other teams now, no one has any issues with it.
    Why is that?
    Because none of them had the position of Fly, none of them did what FLY did, it was a clear betrayal weather anyone likes it or not, it is what it is.

    Hey man love your content ! Especially your take on Fly. We assume him as a traitor but he is actually competitive sort and wants to win above all. As he said OG is "victory" and "friendship", Notail is the friendship part but Fly is the victory part and, for his own goal and career, he had to take a decision.
    Now I m not telling Notail and the rest of OG didn't suffer, their feeling is leggit 100%. But you know when I see the look of Fly after he lost to OG, I don't see sadness but more like "regret". Lot of things must have gone into his head, before, at this moment and after. And maybe he tought that OG didn't win because of him. Must have been hard for a competitive guy.
    But anyway thanks to that we got one of the most epic story of E-Sport so far. Love those guys and as French man I was happy to see Ceb at the top !
