- Ala Moana Bowls was quite the spectacle the morning of July 17, 2022 as magic island was crowded with onlookers witnessing the biggest south swell in decades peak on Oahu's South Shore. In the water, there were only a few surfboards and a lot more bodyboarders out there as the entire channel was closing out with bombing sets. A number of surf breaks appear in the second half of the video which you may not recognize because it hasn't been like this since May 17/18 of 2013. The ending tribute to a great man that used to surf out here. God bless those that have come before us talking story about the ol' days, fighting until the end, and gone on to be with the Lord.

OMG Such beautiful footage. I was on Oahu for 9 years and never surfed until some good friends took me surfing at that same spot on my last full day on the island. The surf was nothing like this but it totally kicked my ass. I stood up a few times but was glad to do the climb of shame up those rocks and watch my friend surf for a while. Great memories of Hawaii and it's beautiful people! Aloha!

Lots of swell but what a mess! I watched 3s firing & it seemed far better that the rest of town. Swell was from strange direction. Nice camera work. Too bad it wasnt better out there. Mahalo
We kept our eye on it for 3 days and concluded that the swell direction was missing threes for the most part. There were still big waves every now and then but it was very manageable compared to the closeouts at pops and publics

Back in the early 80's, I surfed Waikiki on LSD. It was great fun! And normal Waikiki sized waves were plenty enough for me on that day.

It's hot but People wear wetsuits in Hawaii now to protect themselves from the sun and the reef when they fall. We think Jamie O'Brien set the trend for people to wear wetsuit hot Hawaiian Sun

It’s a complete scam just like the press pass but necessary if you want to contract with wedding photography companies or other kinds of commercial work. For the drone hobbyist, it’s completely unnecessary!
