'I think' this will be good for Monzo, a £300m+ boost, a behemoth business behind them with some of the smartest people in the world to call on for help, I don't see how this is a bad thing, but in today's world, anything is possible. ^J
@@StarBoiGoD not that a lot: I suscribed last month and I have been in 5 VIP lounges in airports (2 trips) with a value of 200 €. Add to this 6 WeWork passes (around 300 €), 2 yoga classes (around 30 €), 1 massage (60 €) and 1 cycling class (20 €). I have paid 90 € in Ultra, and the value of all that exceeds 600 €. And I am not mentioning cashback, insurances and interests.
I spoke about this in my review (although the plan has changed slightly since) but like all paid plans, and this is particularly important with Ultra due to the cost, you have to be able to utilise the benefits. Begin by looking at the partner/subscription benefits as that's where A LOT of the value lies. Will you be using them? If so, then you'll likely get most of your money back them, particularly the FT subscription and WeWork. Next, how often do you plan to go from airport to airport? If this will be a lot, the lounge passes will be great, especially in busier or basic airports where the amenities are crap or just exhausted. Lounge passes are great for this, you get a tidy and clean environment away from the crowds. Those two benefits hold a lot of the value, ultimately, if you are travelling frequently, you can use those partnerships and perhaps deposit some money into savings and earn the top-tier Ultra savings rate, then you'll get A LOT of value from this plan. Potentially as Revolut Lite, like I have in LATAM, however, given the complexities, instability and financial regulation within African countries, unfortunately it could be a while. ^Jonny
Fair play to BDO Revolut's auditors- they look like they are doing their job. Just look what happened to Carillion, they wen't bankrupt with debts of £7 billion despite being given a clean bill of health by KPMG. I'm not a fan of companies deciding to sack their auditors if they don't agree with (what is supposed to be) an independent process.
You make a very good point, although BDO do have history of poor reporting, so perhaps Revolut believe they were hard done by? Ultimately, as you said, even KPMG (and the other big firms) have history of poor reporting.
Thanks :), Love these updates
Thank you! Will keep them coming just for you 😊 ^Jonny
@@Monitodotcom Thank you!!!
As a Monzo customer, I'm not sure whether this is exciting or daunting...
