  • This is the "Days Inn" at 901 Navigation Boulevard in Corpus Christi, TX. 18 years ago in room 158 (now room 150), Tejano Superstar Selena was shot in room 150 and died shortly after at a local hospital at 1pm. I decided to upload this video as a "history piece" to show everyone the history of the tragedy. This was taken on Saturday, March 30th, 2013 by me when I booked the room for the 18th Annual Selena Tribute Concert.

    I just wish that Selena had NEVER gone to that room alone. She was too trusting, just had no idea what evil twisted snake was waiting for her to strike. Sometimes I wish I could turn back time to that day and re do everything. But sadly I can't. I still get angry when I think of that evil woman who shot and killed her, and for what? Now she's in prison the rest of her life where she belongs.

    • @MarkSamurai5

      +Amy P Yeah the situation could have been avoided if Selena brought the police with her and contacted her lawyer and settled the situation in court.

    • @AyoAston
      @AyoAston 9 лет назад +13

      +MarkSamurai5 I agree, she just was to trusting, the moment it was brought to her attention about the missing money, I would have gone there with someone, not alone but in Selena mind, she was going in hopes of getting the financial records that Yolanda says she will hand over the previous day that morning only when Selena arrive, Yolanda made up the story of her being raped only to delay handling over the records and after it was discovered she wasn't rape, again once they got back to the hotel Selena demanded the records and that's when everything went down hill and tragedy struck. I really think history might have been different if she only had taken someone with her.

      +selenaforever2008 honestly many believe Yolanda was off to make an attempt on Abraham's life as well when she left the hotel. The gun still had rounds after all. She very likely would have shot all 3 of them.

    • @shaundraevans7559
      @shaundraevans7559 6 лет назад +17

      Selena was a very strong-willed person and she was very confident in herself. The night before she was receiving some of her paperwork from Yolanda so she wasn't any position to assume that Yolanda would do that type of harm to her and obviously by the second day that morning she was just fed up with Yolanda not giving her all the paperwork she just wanted to get it over . However as a celebrity it is a bit odd how Selena was not chaperoned by body guards where ever she went.
      What Selena should have done was have a court order in place for her property and had a police officer escort her there to pick up her documants.

It gave me chills to see the room not changed as that is exactly the way it was when she was there. So very sad. I was shocked when I found out Yolanda had tried not once but 3 different times to kill Selena. What's most surprising is that Selena had signs way beforehand that she was crazy - including seeing the gun - but she trusted her so much that it cost her her life.

    • @veggieeater
      @veggieeater 8 лет назад +6

      +osimeon00 I read that in the book. I think had I seen her pull out the gun, it would have startled me, but I'd probably never think there'd be a killer inside her. I'm sure, Selena was completely shocked.

    • @veggieeater
      @veggieeater 8 лет назад +12

      Gentle Angel on marck 11, she attempts to buy the gun a day after selena and her family confronted her about missing documents. March 14 she pled to selena to keep working for her. Selena agreed. March 15, she returns the gun. Between the 21-24 selena is fed up, and tells Yolanda this arrangement can't go on. On the 26th, she buys the gun again. That same day, she asked selena to come over at the Bayfront hotel. Loud argument occurred and Yolanda checked out that night. Between the 27-30. Yolanda is still working for Selena, but Selena continues to ask for the papers. That night, she tells Selena she has the papers. Selena and Chris go over there, but some papers are still missing. Then finally on the 31 Yolanda whines of rape, Selena tskes her to the hospital and afterwards, killed her. So, i would say that night at the Bayfront hotel, and the with Chris, she had attempted to kill Selena

    0:34 ~ I know it really really is. The pain just doesn't cease to exist or fade off & away at all from this tragically unnecessary incident not one little tiny bit at all as time keeps flying by so rapidly since this happened man...'cause it was just so senselessly unnecessary & Selena just did not deserve it being as good & kindhearted & sweet & thoughtful & down to earth & humble & TOO DAMN YOUNG of a person as she was. And with all that natural AMAZING talent & potential she had that basically already turned her into the #1 superstar foundation & Queen of Tejano music by the time she was only 23 to add, it freakin' forces you to feel that hurtful pain & loss all the more.
    What's unbelievable is the fact that they're still using & renting that room out to guest though. I was almost 100% sure that they most likely respectively kept it boarded up & closed from then on for nobody else to use it again.

      You would've thought they'd have changed the door and parts the of the sidewalk near the door and room in lieu of the investigation while it was going on or sometime soon after it was over because of that very thing you said about using the blue light where you could still see the blood stains on the door and sidewalk. Doesn't make any sense. I agree with Chris Thornton on here that they should turn that room into a memorial and not let anyone sleep in it but be able to visit it but have a tape/ribbon across the door so no one can actually walk into the room. Guess now after 20 years since her death so many people have slept in that room what's the point. But still would be nice and just leave it as is before they do eventually change it. Thanks Tavia for sharing this bit of info with us about your stay in the room and the blue light etc... I know it had to be heartbreaking though. I don't think I could stay the whole night in that room. Not because I'd be afraid but because it would be so heartbreaking to know that she was actually shot in there - someone THAT famous! Just hard to imagine.

      Have mercy! Who in their RIGHT mind would want to BUY that door and for THAT much and have it in their home or wherever for that matter? I would give anything to have that much in my checking account or wallet right now because I just became unemployed :*( Or if I had THAT much I'd give a little to another unemployed and to help someone in need. Most people's priorities are all in the wrong place it seems. Thanks Daniela for replying to my comment and curiosity about the door etc... Really appreciate it :) Now I'm curious as to who bought it and what "auction house" would actually put it up for bid on an auction block like that with the blood still on it??? Just sad!! Guess it's true though, ANYTHING sells.

    I did my own research on which room it was, since Days Inn switched the room numbers to deter Selena Fans from flocking to the property. If you ask the Front Desk Clerk which room it is, they won't tell you. The management is very strict about that, they treat it as a sensitive subject and will not outright tell anyone what room it is. It's the same price as the other rooms.

    It's crazy that they never remodeled or rearranged the room. The room looks the same when I stayed there. It looks how it looked back in 95. I was 16 years old at the time and I remember there was some magazine they published the crime screen pics. The magazine got pulled. In the magazine they should the room and you can see blood all over the door and the rug. They showed the sidewalk it was bloody. It also showed pics of the lobby and the lobby floor had a huge pool of blood.

      ***** They showed the crime scene pictures I believe either in 'E True Hollywood Story: Selena' episode, or her VH1 special. It was pictures of the sidewalk with little specks of blood, then the hotel door where you can kind of see her handprint in blood. Can't remember clearly.

    if you are sensitive to the elements or lets say aware of your surroundings more than likely you will feel the heaviness in that room( but keep in mind that is a hotel room and lots and lots of people have occupied that space) so to really say that the feelings are from the Selena shooting is a hard one to call, since there are so many residual memories in that room. I know that you being in there you had to say a prayer in there so I believe that is the utmost love and peace you could give her. One of those disturbing tragedies that no of us will never know what ACTUALLY took place there in those last moments...kind of macabre but its something in our human psyche that attracts us to these places...just like when we go to haunted places its scary but we have to actually feel it personally.

      +Vanessa Mashushire this is what I found online
      [Days Inn] requests that Selena fans abstain from visiting to give their
      guests greater privacy; Selena was shot in Room 158, March 31, 1995.
      Furthermore, all rooms have been renumbered using odd numbers only; the
      Days Inn has a policy prohibiting their employees from disclosing which
      room had been number 158. Signs are also posted at the beginning of
      each driveway leading to the back from the Registration Office stating,
      "Only registered guests beyond this point."

    Selena wasn't the one that was staying there, it was Yolanda Saldivar that checked into the room. She went to the Days Inn on March 31 because Yolanda told her that she had been raped in Mexico and she made plans to meet up with Yolanda the next morning. Selena drove Yolanda to the hospital where the doctors said she had not been raped, they came back to the Days Inn and apparently argued and that's when Yolanda fired the single shot in the room which led to Selena dying an hour later.

    Okay. If you are reading this you are probably a Selena fan. Can someone please explain why the City of Corpus Christi continues to allow the statue of Selena on Bay Shore Drive to display the wrong birth year on her memorial plaque? She was born in 1971, but the plaque says 1972 and has done so for years. Can we get this corrected? It's an embarrassment and an insult.

Her life is taken away in a motel room. Over someone she trusted. I hope that murderer Yolanda rots forever. You _itch, you killed a beautiful woman.
