Mercer handles character death beautifully, and there was no death more meaningful than Molly's. He died protecting those he loved in life.

he died pretty stupidly, he killed himself by using a blood hunter ability that damages him, also he has a dc of only 11, hopefully he can come back as a lost soul or thru something like true resurrection
@@bananaducc7918 What do you mean by he only has a dc of 11? Blood Maledict doesn't have a DC, it just activates, and it's only a 1d4 so there was a pretty good chance he wouldn't go down from it.
Also it doesn't matter too much but his dc was 14.

In light of Yasha and the Laughing Hand it would be almost like Mercer is making a collection of villainous party members. I'd love to see those three on a team against the party.

His death didn't kill me. I teared up, but I wasn't sobbing. The thing that makes me cry to even think about, including as I write this. They left him a note. They put a note on his body, in case he woke up. It's just so sad. That small hope that he'll just, get up. And be his happy silly self.

But yes, this song is amazing, and it made me cry all over again. I've been sobbing regularly since we lost Molly, for the same reasons as the OP. I just can't get over the loss. I feel ridiculous, keep telling myself he's not real, but the message, and the morals he conveyed ARE.
We were robbed far too early of his greatness, though I believe we haven't yet seen the very last of him, and, I am quite saddened still.

What's going to really fuck us up all now is when Molly comes back in another thirty episodes as the ritual takes effect and he is bereft of any memory of the Mighty Nein.
AncientSlugThrower what ritual? Is it the same one that is mentioned in his backstory?
I've seen a theory going around that the ritual has become almost a curse, and that whenever Molly dies he comes back after a time with no memory of his past life.
Basically the story of a game called Yesterday which had a character who took part in a satanic ritual to gain immortality, but they didn't use one of the more important ingredients which resulted in the character losing their memories with each death.
Seems like the kind of thing Taliesin would be into, It would be a real twist of the knife to have Jester run up to him only for him to give her the "I've just got one of those faces, My name is Parallelogram." I'd actually like to see that, Provided that "Molly" is an NPC in this interaction.
Matt should bring him back later like that but as a bad guy hired to kill off the party.

The beautiful thing about Molly's death is Taliesin didn't give us any last words to remember him by. Just a defiant spit in the mud, which forces us to look at his actions in life instead and remember who he really was. Which, is what I think Molly would have wanted. Well done Taliesin.

I was thinking, what if they bury him and he comes back but as his old persona 'Lucien'? Imagine it, they finally complete their quests for The Gentlemen and go to turn it in and there he is standing right next to 'Cree'. They approach him but he has no memory of The Mighty Nein or the circus at all. I'd imagine Lucien as a polar opposite of Molly, cruel, cold and calculating. Just a theory.
Mister Torgue Flexington totally in the realm of possibilities. I actually think this is one of the more plausible outcomes if he is to return.
I was thinking of him possibly becoming a Angel/Angelus type character from the buffyverse. Changing persona from a loyal friend to a sworn enemy maybe on some occasions Lucien pretending to be Molly only to screw the party over, i dunno maybe its just the DM in me but i feel its a GREAT opportunity for a really interesting twist.
What if Yasha and the Laughing Hand revive him?

I really didn’t care for the Mighty Nein at first but after Molly’s death I realized I really loved his character and I understood that I really did like the others I just didn’t give them a chance at first. I guess it’s like they say you never realize how much something means to you until it’s gone. Long may you reign circus man.

Molly was my second favourite character after fjord, and I was devastated at his death. But at this point, I'm more excited to see How it changes the group, and what wonders taliesen will bring to the table next
Dylan Maguire he is a brilliant man. The way he thinks up characters. You can always expect him to create something that you’ve never seen before and dazzle us with his creativity.

Dylan Maguire not surprised, I may have my gripes with it, but D&D beyond does make alot of the stats part of character creation less of a chore, and he has the mind for a great backstory even if it's less then a paragraph.
I recently saw an interview with him where he detailed the origin of the character (as far as where Molly came from in his head, not story-wise), where he said he had also considered a sorcerer. maybe his new character will be along those lines.
In the words of Jacob from xp to lvl 3, his death was the best and worst thing for this show

The death of Mollymauk was so devastating cause it happened so early, we almost lost a player on the 3rd session but my cleric rolled a nat 20 on a stabilize check while they were at 2 death saving throws failed

Taliesin, if you watch his latest interview, he talks about how he likes to play characters that are not particularly liked but he likes to grow their characters out. But yeah they are all great together and his backstory was starting to be so cool. I wonder what they’re going to do.

I have a suspicion that Taliesin and Matt have a very cool or sinister plan. I personally think that Molly will come back with no memory, and as a very powerful worker for the chained oblivion, like Obann, but that is just a guess. It would really force some character development though, especially on Yasha.

Too early, it’s just too early in the campaign.
They barely know each for over a month, barely starting to build connection and trust. They could have so many more exciting adventures together; they could have created a legend together; they could have supported each other’s to face their past and future together.
They could have… and now The Mighty Nein still have, just Mollymauk is not with them anymore.

It's just a game...and then something like this happens. Why do I care so much? He was a fictional character in a land of make believe and still a small piece of my heart is broken. I honestly don't know how I'll react if he comes back. I may stop watching the show all together to be frank.
Ray Ruckus I understand that sentiment. I know that it is possible but it would be hard for a lot of us. It’s like in movies when a popular character dies and then suddenly reappears. Sometimes it can be an amazing turn of events and other times it can seem like they’re just trying to play to the audience. All I know is that they will handle it well. I just hope it’s good enough for us to feel that his death was important in the first place.
Natural 1 Yes it really does come down to that 'does death matter' question. In alot of games you lose the fear of death, hell in the first campaign it certainly wasn't there I I refer you to a certain goldfish incident. I watched every member of Vox Machina die (except Pike) and none of them lingered in the way this one has. Even Vax the first time versus Vecna wasn't this bad. I don't know maybe it's because we're seeing them from the very beginning.
