I had a blast seeing this aircraft this year! What a beauty, oh and don’t even get me start with that sound it makes! Beautiful, just Beautiful. Thanks airshowstuff! 🤙
I had the pleasure of watching the P-47 in person, and it was as incredible as the video suggests. A side benefit..., those clouds made for some great backdrops in my photos!
What a beast of an aircraft. Not pretty like the Mustang, but a great looking aircraft, hard as nails and it packed an awesome punch. And I loved the colour scheme on this Thunderbolt
Beautiful airplane. I've had a love for the warbirds most of my life. The time, money and dedicated care of thousands of people that keep this important part of history alive for multiple generations to see is laudable. But just once I'd like to see a warbird in it's actual war time condition. Olive drab paint that's dusty, dirty, with oil streaked down the fuselage. Greasy hand prints and obvious repairs from battle damage. Just as it would look on the flight line. There was never time nor care to clean and polish and pamper these aircraft, they were tools of war that carried the weapons needed to defeat the enemy. This is not to disrespect any warbird owner. It's just that a perfectly painted and polished airplane never existed in any theater of the second world war. Thank you for all your videos and 'Keep'em flyin'!
Outstanding specimen!! Excellent airplane and it was a flying tank!! It's surprising there aren't more of them flying, considering how many were built.
267th subscriber LIKE; 2,428th view-from-a-desktop. One of my favorite planes: the sound! I've seen/heard RC models with Moki engines that are impressive replicas. But seeing the real deal, looking this good, is a special treat. WOW!! Great close ups and capture.
Great friend with Bob Russell a former P47 pilot with 13 missions! I ask him if he remembers what his P47 sounded like at full throttle. He simply replied you remember what it sounds like when it not! Still going at 100 years old. Salute Airman
I think she's more beautiful than any P-51, and we all know her brute strength, in her capability and design...simply gorgeous and glorious in every way
I have a pal who had the honor of being shot down in 1967 in Thailand while flying a Sandy model. This mission is to so provide close-in air support for the Jolly Green rescue choppers. Lt Col. Bill Buice is an American hero living in Pensacola FL today. We flew together on air rescue missions later in Central America.
Sorta kinda. The razorbacks were in fact more aerodynamic, so at the same power they were about 4 mph faster. However, when they went to bubble-top production, they increased the power from 2,300 to 2,600 hp. This added power provided a good deal more thrust, and actually ended up making the bubble-tops faster than the razorbacks by about 2 or 3 mph. The razorbacks where more stable though, and that's why later bubble-tops have the dorsal fin, which wasn't a complete fix until the larger upgrade on the N model.

As deadly as it is beautiful. The later bubble canopy versions were improved but this "razorback" is a gorgeous example in polished aluminum and black. My favorite aircraft. Read Robert Johnson's "Thunderbolt."
I want one now! Why the hell did Santa not give me a razorback Thunderbolt for Xmas? Now, I don't believe in anything. But I do love hearing and seeing this P-47. What a spectacular example. Years of resto have paid off.
Yeehaaww! THIS is how the world's fastest piston-engine fighter to ever see combat is supposed to be flown at airshows! What an impeccable restoration! Didn't hear the signature jet-like whine of that huge turbocharger following behind the plane, though - so the pilot must've been babying her a bit & not getting into the WEP. 👍
I had this playing on my personal laptop at work. My boss asked me what I was watching. "Porn" I say. Boss looks shocked. "Aviation Porn" says I. Boss calls me a weirdo.
I assume that is an authentic paint scheme, but about those black stripes, the D-Day invasion stripes were alternately white and black. Is that a later variation?
@@bobwilson758That unit flew in the SW Pacific area. The stripes were probably painted to distinguish it from Japanese fighters, all of which were radial engined but the Ki-61.
I hear shes the only flying razorback thunderbolt now I remember we had a razorback that was flying not too long ago out here in california, have no idea what happened to her though....
The museum of the Air Force filmed a bunch of Navy fighters BUTTTT NOT this beautiful, iconic fighter!!! This was the greatest fighter of WW2!!! SHAME on the Air Force museum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The restoration was done by AirCorps Aviation and the aircraft belongs to the Dakota Territory Air Museum. The aircraft suffered a mechanical fault and crashed in New Guinea in September, 1944. I dunno how they acquired it but the whole restoration took 8 years. Apparently it’s the only Razorback P-47 built by Republic that’s flying.

Superb aerobatics by a Superb pilot and aircraft.
The P-47 has to be my favorite Warbird of all time! Great performance!
7th LIKE, agreeing - it's one of my favorites, too - and this particular one sports a fantastic look. Cheers!
What a fabulous pilot and an amazing demonstration
thanks for the great footage as always.
I love seeing a P-47 ‘Bolt get wrung out like that, simply awesome!!
Absolutely magnificent aerial demonstration by my favorite WWII fighter-Republic P-47D-23 Thunderbolt razorback model!
What a great video of a truly rare aircraft!!!!!!!!!
Thats some great camera work.
What a lovely machine.
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!! THE STAR OF OSHKOSH!!!!! FIGHTER OF THE CENTURY!!!!!!!!!!!!
The most perfectly (re)built P47 in the world. It's a real thrill to see it flying.
Beautiful
There used to be more p47s than any other warbird at Oshkosh, those days are long gone
Beautiful aircraft well flown and displayed.
Ive never heard a p47 sounding like this, i am speechless! I hope they continue flying this beauty!!

What a graceful display of airmanship by the pilot..and an amazing warbird.
One few over the neighborhood. In the flight line of Truax in Madison.
They are bigger than I expected. It's got to be fun to exercise that monster.

The A-10 had good reason to be named after the P-47, but the original sure wins out on looks!
It's kinda the beefy big brother to the P-51 Mustang? 5th LIKE to your comment. This Razorback's thick like an Arkansas linebacker.
P-47 magnifique ❤❤
Razorback is definitely the best looking P-47 imo
Awesome plane! Awesome video!
Beautiful... my half-brother was a P-47 pilot and he always said it was "the best".
Could you tell me your half brother's name and where he was from
Saw this aircraft on the ramp at Reno. Just beautiful.

There isn’t another more beautiful flying machine ever created (by earthlings, at least)…

What an awesome display of American ingenuity.
Boy, it can sure roll & turn..impressive, considering how big & heavy it is.
According to the pilots, even though it was a heavy aircraft, it was surprisingly light on the controls and well balanced
4:05 Stunning sequence!
Its a beauty!
That's beautiful
Makes me want to put my arms out and fly
Beautiful!

My dad flew both
That’s so beautiful

To me the razorback version is just so much meaner looking. I love this plane
A lot of people don’t know but the razorbacks were faster and more stable than the bubble canopy variants.

Is the turbo supercharger operable in it?

We will definitely be doing a video (or possibly two) of Thunderbird as well
@@AirshowStuffVideos awesome 👍 thanks
Same pilot, Bernie Vasquez flies both airplanes.

Man, what a badass airplane.
what a sexy plane
There's your barn door, Herr Reichsmarschall!
I like your WWI 17 cm medium mine launcher. (I am not offended by it.) 🙂👍
Anyone know if Bonnie has been repaired from ingesting The P+W emblem off the front of her R2800?
That P-47 was expertly flow.
The mighty Republic P-47D-23 RA. The most rugged fighter of WW 2. One of the deadliest in history!
Your 100th thumbs up! Cheers!!

Beautiful plane, doesn't sound like an R-2800; or is that just my speakers?
I'm wondering if has a functioning turbocharger
Speakers.
If you saw & heard it "in person", you'd know it's a beast.
YES
I assume that is an authentic paint scheme, but about those black stripes, the D-Day invasion stripes were alternately white and black. Is that a later variation?
Earlier I think some had stripes prior to D-Day invasion .

Sharp bird.

We were lucky to have the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt ⚡ earlier in WW2 🤔 because she, had he range and firepower to escort heavys...
I hear shes the only flying razorback thunderbolt now
I remember we had a razorback that was flying not too long ago out here in california, have no idea what happened to her though....
My dad flew this in ww II the mighty jug. He lost alot of men during this time of bombing
Keep your Cadillac - I'll take a Buick any day! ;)

I never quit understood how the razorback P47 can look so beautiful and at the same time the bubble canopy p47 look so ugly.
perfection
