Great review. The bhp figures you quoted were a bit out - the regular M4 are actually 431 bhp and the new Comp version is 13 bhp more at 444 bhp, it all counts and like you say there are a host of differences - it’s the Comp for me ! 👍

Stef, great video. I've owned both cars. They both are different and great in there own way. The alfa qv has better balance and phenomenal steering and pulls hard at the top. The m4 pulls like a train down low. I sold the alfa I kept the m4. Dealer network complete trash. They dont even have loaner cars they send you to enterprise rent a car. I shop 4 bays for alfa and Maserati. The alfa doesn't get going all the time until your half way through second or going into 3rd. That sucks. The bmw always has power. Alfa depreciation is awful. The m4 market is so much stronger. The alfa is a great car. In time I will give them another chance.

This Clip going back a few years but for peoples interest. Went to the dealer to test drive a Quadrifoglio, came home with a BMW M4 Competition after driving both back to back. Preferred the low down torque and brutish nature of the M4 over the Alfa. I also wanted a car that I could go hard on the track. BMW just build for punishment. But Both cool cars, just depends on the driver and driver preferences.

I cannot comprehend how the same BMW e46 are churning out cars that sounds like an amplified electric motor, that synthetic sound does not sound mechanical and appears bulky. However, my limitation are that I have not driven both cars....I will take the Alfa, it evokes emotions and sounds more like a mechanical propelled vehicle. Brilliant comparison Stef.

Nice video as always and an honest opinion though the comparison is rather tough as the one is a 4 door sports saloon and the other a 2-door sports saloon with about 60 HP deficit in favor for the Giulia Q. Personally, I would not change my Giulia Quadrifoglio for an M4 Competition alone for the emotional part, the nimbleness and driver thrills that the Alfa offers against its competition when it is driven as it should.
The Giulia Q platform literally feels like it dances on the tarmac while accelerating and changing gears while the M4 makes you think of the application of robotics and mechatronics in car design and construction. I have test driven both the M3 Comp and the M4 Comp. Both of them work without a doubt but in a clinical manner but I do prefer the M3. In the end of the day, it all boils down to what you want: warm or cold technology. Both are amazing cars and within fairly acceptable price ranges considering the segment and what they offer.
Rather irrelevant to this video but here it goes: have you tried to test the new MY 2020 Audi RS7? Obiously this car fills another bracket compared to the Giulia Q and the M4 Comp but I'd say that I was pretty impressed. It is a machine I would drive anyday, would I be in the market for a 4 door sports saloon made in Germany. It's only a pity that a well spec'ed RS7 is that expensive.

    • @BojanBojovic

Audi will always be watered down compared to BMW and especially Alfa. They must do it as it is how their customers see their cars. That is why I do not like Audi, especially their normal cars, good at everything but brilliant at nothing.

@@irodrigo I really hope you are right. But looking at sales figures I can not see how could they survive.
I believe the problem with Alfa sales is in their marketing and targeting. They make driver's cars and then all their marketing goes to how good they drive, emotions, and that kind of stuff. Totally wrong. Regular (read boring) human beings (97% of people) knows nothing about those and do not care at all, that is why no one buys an Alfa today. They should make the cars as they already do, but then they should change their strategy and talk only about how good infotainment system is, how many cup holders the car has, boot space, interior quality, all the bells and whistles that all other German cars have, and not talk about driving dynamics at all.
Why? People do not care about driving, they want nice looking cars that have all the toys they want, and Alfa should give them that. The rest of us will know they drive well so this is a win-win combination.

Stef...you're awesome, the Alfa has made significant strides in the segment with the Gulia, it is a well accomplished machine that like the golf MK5 came from nowhere and instantly became the talk of town.
However, just like the well accompliished Audi, the Alfa, is the bastard child. It simply has a very longway to go untill it can compete with the german trio pound for pound, this amazing machine is not selling, the numbers on the road are very insignificant because consumers simply see the Alfa for what it is.
Believe it or not, this amazing machine will soon be discontinued just like the 4c..Alfa makes amazing beautiful characterful cars that have zero value, simply what we can call, beauty with no brain cars...
This M4 may be slower but simply is untouchable by the Alfa..

"The M4 may be slower, more boring, handle worse, need fake engine noise, not have a Ferrari engine, not be designed by Phillip Krief, no carbon fiber propshaft, no Pininfarina design, but it's simply untouchable by the 'zero-value' Alfa."
      Lol, seems legit.

Really no point in comparing the two cars, the QV could be half the price and twice the car and still "the sheep" will follow each other into the BMW dealers to pick up their M4. Personally it is the Alfa for me!

i’m a massive BMW fan and currently have a 6 series coupe (amazing interior) but the dash in the M4 is just the same as the 1 series. it’s very cheap looking in my opinion.

It’s not cheap looking, it’s functional and minimalistic. This is the last BMW which came with analog gauges which is one less thing to break.

M4 all day long. Friend of mine rejected two brand new Alfas. due to the bumper and fuel flap being a different shade to the rest of the car.Nearly asked for his deposit back. 2000 miles later he wished he had. The car needed a new diff and guess what. Alfa didn't have any. when it finally went in, the dealer lent him a diesel fiat. Complete shower. Cars have the build quality of a wet Kleenex.

Del Johnson you are such a dick!
My friend had no issues ordering a diff through warranty. Installed within 2 weeks.
As for the diff, it exploded as he drives like the car was stolen every second of the day.
Secondly the alfa build quality is brilliant.
If I had the money I’d buy a QV in a heart beat.

My friend got a brand new M3 with European delivery, and the axle broke after driving 10 miles. Every brand has issues, yet Most UK consumer surveys have put Alfa reliability above BMW and Merc.
