- The brand new RED Digital Cinema KOMODO X 6K camera has landed... well at least for a few lucky early adopters. And it is a beast! This is the first of many videos I will be creating around this camera as I put this new tool through its paces.

Great video! Interested to know what you think once you get your hands on it!
Nice breakdown man! Looks like the camera has a lot of appealing aspects for filmmakers 👀
The Komodo-X is wonderful. For now my regular old Komodo is just fine. If I need the frame rates and other features of the X, I’ll just use my Red Ranger Gemini. I think I am covered.
I agree with you I’m rocking with my OG Komodo it hasn’t failed me and I don’t often need high frame rates. I do like some of the changes of port but it’s not enough to get the Komodo-X
Thanks for this video. Great work
Thanks bro for checking it out. Make sure to get me a Komodo X when your knocking out your Christmas list!
Compare The Mavo LF 6K before
I haven’t gotten my hands on that camera yet but I will try too soon.
The low light is better than the komodo but the komodo wasn't that great to begin with. The KX matches a bit better with the VV v-raptor than the og komodo but you will still have to adjust in post. I don't have experience with the super 35 raptor so idk how it matches with that. I don't care too much about the new audio port because sound guys will have a sound devices or zoom field recorder to get better sound. You are still limited to the preamps inside of the camera so it won't sound fantastic.
Also note that a lot of cages for the og komodo don't work with the KX so you're going to have to frankenstein a few things together to make a cage.
Yep! Thanks for the good information.

Will be my first camera
The Komodo X your first camera is dope!!! Your going to have a dope camera. You just have to know that it’s a slower camera to work with.
First comment!
Early Bird! You win a brand new....Sticker
Why do you think that this is a new sensor???! The processing is different not the sensor. Please check an authoritative source before repeating that this is a new sensor.
I think it’s a new sensor because there was a comment Jared made in the Komodo Facebook group. He stated that the original Komodo sensor could not handle the higher frame rates. Your statement may be right this is me assuming from that comment. Thanks for the feedback also.
It is a new sensor. It has better low light that the original.
@@JJSCTech thanks yeah. I got some hands on with it today and also got to review some footage. yeah it’s a new sensor. The sensor looks a lot like the v raptor. Leans more magenta. Way better low light. Video coming soon!!! 😁
@@StixxVision sorry but Red say the architecture of the sensor is different not that it is a different sensor. Not sure you really understand what you are looking at. It’s polite Red speak for they have put a different curve on the raw curve and are using some in camera processing maybe to tune the flat image. Remember it’s raw. Clearly the blacks are lifted but I am not convinced that Red has invested a small fortune to develop a new sensor. Just think about how they have repurposed sensors through out their history and camera range. Same with Arri. Just because it looks different and has some shadow boost doesn’t make it a new sensor. In case you are wondering the significance in theory is that the raw file in the Komodo og can get exactly the same results albeit in post. Magenta shift means nothing. That is tuning the look and effectively changing the rgb curves appropriately. It’s the same with the new arri s35 where different sensor tunings are offered for different looks. ???
@@KenFlanagan you are assuming Red invests in their own sensors. They haven’t done that sense the Dragon sensor. Komodo X has a new sensor.
You can match almost all the Red cameras because of the IPP2 pipeline.
