Coach is a good alternative to plane as flying nowadays is a hassle of needing check in at least 2-3 hrs. It works out to be about the same time as bus which brings you to centre of city without traffic jam or immigration delays.
I would. Because you don’t need to rock up too early and go through all the baggage security. $60 SGD is excellent value for first class with a meal and some snacks included and a 7 hour trip
When I worked in Singapore and was sent to KL for work, I actually preferred to drive. My colleagues all thought I was spoiling the market for them. Hahahaha...
14:27 Kuala Lumpur is still the capital city of Malaysia as per the Constitution, the government just relocated a bunch of government buildings into Putrajaya, the government did not change the status of KL.
i love how the flight is awesome, but, you know when you want to waste time and just chill............ this is the best way to travel hehehehe. Super love this. Definitely going to try :) thanks for covering this eh.
I'm doing this trip later and needed some guidance on what to expect. This video is really well produced and really helpful Ryan. Great job! Many thanks!
I’d definitely take this form of transport over to KL if time wasn’t an issue and I wanted to see the scenery of Malaysia from the ground… but seriously, this is great! For my upcoming trip (SIN-KUL) I’ve paid around $80 AUD… (plane ticket) so at half this price I think the Luxury coach seats are good value! Definitely on the to do list in the future… excellent video Ryan
Indeed. One of the drawcards when Air Asia was born was that you can buy an air ticket for less than a bus fare. And they weren't wrong. But just like train travel, bus is for you to enjoy the journey.
The Solitaire one way fare is around SING$78.00 but it's still on my list for March 2023. It's not really that much slower than an overall plane trip to boot.
I loved your video. I would like to give my wife a chance to see that part of SE Asia. Last I was in Singapore was 1991 and Penang in 1990. I am certain that I will be in awe with the changes
@@gerardoguzman5083 thanks for your support! Yeah major Asian cities change very quickly its very hard to keep up. Enjoy your trip and let me know how it went with the bus booking!
Thanks for watching! Yeah as others have pointed out, there's also Aeroline which has a similar product. So it all depends on where you wanna board and disembark the bus from/at... 😏
Lovely comfortable coach, I'd travel on it. I have already done this route back in 1984, flying Brisbane-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Abu Dhabi-London. I remember we had to stay in our plane at KL airport, no photos out of windows and soldiers with rifles surrounding the plane. Apparently another plane was hi-jacked 200 kms away. We were sprayed above our heads, then took off again. I flew solo, so was a daunting experience to remember.
Correction. The British didn’t come immediately after the Portuguese. It was the Dutch first, and later, the British. The British were already actively involved in Siamese negotiations.
Last week, I booked this bus for my trip to KL. My trip was not very enjoyable. First of all, the bus was supposed to come at 9am to Golden Mile Complex, but it wasn't there. Best of all, it wasn't even the Transtar First Class Solitaire Suite bus. It was just a regular normal seated bus and we were told to board it and transfer to Solitaire only after we cross the Tuas checkpoint. This was already a big turn off for me since I booked for my family of three and we were on a regular bus for about two or three hours. From what I saw once I got to the Solitaire, it all looks a bit run down now. Things work but do not look as posh as advertised. Maybe it was just the bus that I was in. I give it a 4/10.
Wow I had no idea such buses existed! I’ve never been to either Singapore or Malaysia but if I ever do go I’d love to take this bus journey. It looks amazingly comfortable
Yes as an Australian with no love for airports the bus is definitely the way to do this journey. Even going from Singapore to Bangkok you could consider going by bus to KL then train to Bangkok. I lived in southern Thailand for two years in the 1990s and did the journey between the south and Bangkok both by bus and by train. Even then both methods were comfortable. I'm sure it's better now.
Hi Ryan, you are lucky for the slightly delay in reaching KL. Many years back, on a labour day holiday morning, I left Singapore at 6:30am by Sri Maju to KL. Jam was horrid. Our coach reached KL Berjaya Time-square at 9:00pm!
Oh my... That's horrible! Yes the traffic can be quite terrible along the highway during holiday season. I once left KL by car in Xmas eve thinking I would arrive in 2nd link at midnight and sail through it to be home. I ended up being stuck at 2nd link for 5 hours because everyone thought like me? Lol... Pity the high speed rail has been canned. Otherwise that would be ideal.
Hello from Australia. I grew up in Darwin NT so can feel the humidity oozing through your video... I went to Singapore in 1982 for a couple of weeks and am itching to go back now and take in all the smells and beautifully clean places again. My only problem is I hate flying so I'm looking at alternative ways of travelling the world. After the relatively short flight from Oz to Singapore, rail and coaches are my going to be my best friends. I would definitely do this luxury coach trip, thank you for taking us along.
Well howdy, Jane! I'm actually Aussie, and I live in SA. Coaches are a fantastic way to do long haul travel. Hope you'll get on one of these, because there is nothing like that in Australia that's for sure! 🤣
I took this bus in July, definitely the way to go between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. It's cheap, more comfortable than going to and from airports and squeezing into small economy seats, and it takes you right into Kuala Lumpur city (while the KUL airport is 55 km away from the city). I enjoyed it so much I took the bus back from KL to Singapore I went on the 7 am ride, IMO a better time to avoid border delays and traffic

Wow that was a nice ride!!! Thank you so much for bringing us along with you! I really love road trips. My friends and I also travelled from SG to KL 3 years ago before covid. We will be planning another road trip there soon haha
Nice video, really appreciate... I have taken Transtar 1st Class Solitaire to K.L before too. Sometimes when they know there isn't so many passengers, the bus is a single deck. But the suspension of the European double decker coach is better. Shame about the air conditioning in the front of the upper deck... otherwise, i love the seat too, able to look out onto the road ahead.
The bus is the way to go when travelling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Ryan! No airport security nonsense, no risk of luggage getting lost, you go from central city to central city and you sit in seats similar to business class on a plane. Add to that the views from the bus window and the far cheaper fare. Why would you fly? I've travelled this way a few times and once by air.
@@ryansofly That will be an interesting comparison for me. I lived in Yala in southern Thailand 1996-98 and travelled once by bus Bangkok-Hatyai. Over 2 decades ago so the buses should be much better now.
Really awesome video to watch to unwind after a busy day! The reason why there isn't any direct train is because the Malaysian side kept changing their stance when it comes to building the high speed rail between SG and MY.
Yeah this HSR was a glory project by Najib. It was suppose to be extended all the way into Jurong East. It was cancelled when Mahathir took over. So now it only reaches Gemas. The next phase with be the extension to JB.
@@sktoh4469 Nope. Najib himself was embroiled in one of the last decade biggest global corruption scandal i.e. 1MDB & his grand plan for Malaysia's latest train system was in the midst of that (circa 2014-2017). Any sane citizen and member of the parliment would have take a step back in order to scrutinize the damage of the corruption to the national's coffer. The 1MDB siphoned money were returned to Malaysia annually by external foreign governments and entities up until today, after the success pushing Najib & BN down from the throne in 2018.
@@sktoh4469 I suppose that's meant to be a joke. In the present world environment there is no place for jokes about unprovoked military aggression. Yes the Singapore army could accomplish that in a few days if it wanted to spend the next decades fighting a guerilla resistance.
Looks luxurious, however only 15Kg luggage allowed. Plus check the bus schedules, the route Singapore - KL is all about the right timing of the night / day, as the traffic can be horrendous, if you travel during peak hours. And price of course. The Aeroliner is to me still the best option.
No worries, thanks for popping by. This video is a small part of a series which involves Singapore as well. Links to those videos are in the description if you wanna check it out. Enjoy your trip to Singapore! 😃
For the info of other viewers, there are bathrooms at the immigration complex on both the SG and Malaysia side, so make sure to clear your bladders before re-boarding the bus! (If u are afraid the bus would leave without u, let the driver know first)
I took Aeroline coach usually as m a privilege member Its similar to what your service experience ...the bus has WC at lower deck and you get blanker n and hot drinks n water besides hot meals or bowl instant noodles if u don't want the regular meal ...try it ... Used to be 50$ SG to kl it's stops at Corus hotel KL ...if you travel KL to SG from Corus hotel u can enjoy free coffee self service at the hotel designated area for Aeroline customers n you can enjoy discount meals too at Corus hotel
Aeroline office in SG is @ harbour front next to ferry ticket counter...u can also book on line it goes to Time square as well diff x to the one TT goes to Corus ... It's non stop as u have WC for pi only not "big job" . That u need to inform the cabin Steward or stewardess ....hot drink coffee ☕ 🍵 or milo take it pick n water is available wt hot as u boarded...blanket is available
I did this journey by bus some years ago. A Singapore friend drove me to Johor Bahru bus station where the fares are much cheaper and going through the immigration points in a private car is a bit simpler and quicker. Yes I'd do it again, by the time you've cleared two airports flying isn't much quicker and definitely less environmentally responsible 😊
This Solitaire is nice , usually rides starts around afternoon. You won't feel rush. WTS bus rides feels like being force to fall in , in the morning before the sun rise:) if anyone tried before
I enjoyed watching this video clip. It was nicely done. Two friends and I will take the same Transtar-Travel by luxury bus from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. It will be our first time in both countries. Here is a question: Can you suggest where to get on this luxury bus from Pan Pacific Hotel in the financial districts? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
If you're referring to Pan Pacific in Singapore, then download the GRAB app. It's a ride sharing service which is very cheap and it'll take you everywhere in Singapore.
I actually paid $98 per pax for my upcoming trip to Genting Highlands in December, definitely excited yet afraid, but after this video it did help me out with clarify my doubts etc.
$60.00 Sing dollars is pricey. You can fly on the cheap with so many airlines. However, the plus side is that the bus alights at Berjaya Times Square in the heart of KL.
One-way or return rate? For my experience with return fare, the coaches used for the return trip were always a lower rated bus instead of the same ones used for the outbound trip. Company had never compensated with rebates as they always cited that there’s huge demands and there’s no more similar standard coaches. That was umpteen years ago and my trips were always done during sch holidays though.
Excellent video, Ryan! I'd most definitely take this coach, as I love seeing places, via alternate modes of travel. Those seats are calling my name and I might just plan something like this for my next trip to Malaysia. Safe travels!
I did before and it was nice....from Woodland in Singapore to Johor Baru in Legoland day tour first...then Night Coach Luxury from JB to KL..arrived early in the morning stayed in Petronas Tower first....then stayed one night in Hotel Imperial in Bukit Bintang ,KL and toured around and eat in the night popular Street Food in Jalan Alor and in the morning road an MTR and then a Bus to station to go up in a cable car going up to Genting Highlands and stayed in hotel there for 2 days then after a bus straight from Genting to Kl then Luxury Coach again to Singapore in Admirality and then MTR to Woodlands...in time for the next day...Christmas day spent it on Sentosa Island....Universal Studio where to our surprise there are lots of tourist and especially local tourist for a Chrismas day holiday which ironic in our country Christmas day is celebrated more at home with family with relatives. In Singapore time to spend it outside with the family. Missed Singapore and Malaysia.
You're right. Christmas is more of an outside activity in SG and KL. But here in Australia, it is incredibly quiet because Xmas is a time for you to celebrate with family.

have not traveled that far up msia since covid, but I think maybe you can buy a ticket from KL back to SG for same price of 60 but in ringgit ... which is 3 times less because I always do it when I used to go up to melaka, from golden mile I buy a 1 way ticket and pay S$25 to melaka then once I disembark at melaka central bus station I immediately buy a return ticket for same price of 25 ringgit. One thing to note a lot of malaysians work in SG but return home to msia on Fridays evenings after work then on Sunday evenings they have to come back down again to report to work on monday so coach tickets get sold out very fast if you want to return on Sundays make sure you buy your ticket ASAP. But you can also hire a private vehicle taxi which is way lot faster but of course much more expensive I think was under 400 ringgit melaka to SG before covid.
The saddest event regarding JB to KL by train was when they dropped the overnight sleeper :( Yes the lack of a direct JB to KL train sucks. It has to do with KL to Gemas being electrified and Gemas to JB still diesel. I 'think' they have almost electrified the whole line which will be good because the current layover at Gemas is like 3 hours. btw This bus is on my to do list next year. Is there room for an airline carry on where people normally sit on the bus ??
Yeah the train situation is a bit shit. That's why I chose not to do it. Perhaps when it is fully electrified I'll look at it again. As for the bus, my roller luggage was stored in the cargo hold. I had one laptop bag as a carry on in the main cabin, which I placed in the floor. There are no luggage compartments in the main cabin.
@@ryansofly That's 2 youtube reviews with thumbs up but I have some seen a great many awful written reviews. They were old so maybe Transtar has lifted it's game. Wishing you well.
Agree that rail still isn't a viable option. Maybe when the electrification is complete, but it will still be a pain to get to the Jahor station. Only downside of the bus service for me personally is no toilet.
It really depends on what you want to do there. To do the tourist thing, I'd reckon 4-5 days would do. There's much more to do outside of KL. Malacca, Penang, Sarawak, Sabah etc...

Yeah this HSR was a glory project by Najib. It was suppose to be extended all the way into Jurong East. It was cancelled when Mahathir took over. So now it only reaches Gemas. The next phase with be the extension to JB.
"... keep on changing their stance ..." Due to insufficient opportunities to pocket a few bucks?
@HH Thinking of taking over Johore State? Excellent idea. Singapore army can easily accomplish the task.
@@sktoh4469
Nope.
Great video Ryan! Looks like a nice way to travel between the two cities, lucky those people made it back on!
I really wonder what would happen if those two were detained indefinitely? Thanks for watching!
Looks luxurious, however only 15Kg luggage allowed. Plus check the bus schedules, the route Singapore - KL is all about the right timing of the night / day, as the traffic can be horrendous, if you travel during peak hours. And price of course. The Aeroliner is to me still the best option.
Will definitely try this service during our trip.
In depth content! Love it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks for popping by!
nice reporting love it i did it before and that was 2016
Thanks for watching mate! Indeed, it was a very nice bus ride...
I just booked my ticket to KL with Transtar solitaire coach! Woo Hoo
Nice! Nice! Lemme know how your experience goes!
i want to know the exact departure area thanks
Whoch website did u booked at
never knew services like these existed! I really want to try it
What a pleasant way travel ..no crowded low cost airport
Yes I know right?
Apart from your excellent video, your English is great👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉
Ive been planning to go to singapore by bus from KL . This video helps a lot ^^ .
No worries, thanks for popping by. This video is a small part of a series which involves Singapore as well. Links to those videos are in the description if you wanna check it out. Enjoy your trip to Singapore! 😃
@@ryansofly will do ☺️
I’d definitely do that trip. Thanks for the inspiration.
Please do! Its such and interesting way to cross an international border!
I have travelled in the same bus it's very comfortable.
Indeed... I'd do it again
For the info of other viewers, there are bathrooms at the immigration complex on both the SG and Malaysia side, so make sure to clear your bladders before re-boarding the bus! (If u are afraid the bus would leave without u, let the driver know first)
Thanks for the reminder. Otherwise bring along a couple of ziplocks! Hahahaha...
hopefully not the hard stool kind..1 hour wait...bus just drive off 😂😂😂
I took Aeroline coach usually as m a privilege member Its similar to what your service experience ...the bus has WC at lower deck and you get blanker n and hot drinks n water besides hot meals or bowl instant noodles if u don't want the regular meal ...try it ...
Hi do you have to phone number where I can make enquiry?thanks
Thank you for sharing ... very informative !
Yeah the bus is nice.
This Solitaire is nice , usually rides starts around afternoon. You won't feel rush.
WTS bus rides feels like being force to fall in , in the morning before the sun rise:)
if anyone tried before
Sounds like 5BX to me! 😆
@@ryansofly 😝😂
Hi, yes I took this journey many times in a normal bus... Thanks and keep going 😊
I like the detail explanation of the detainees
Hi, thank you for that video. Please can you help me, were did you booked the bus? thank you very much.
Howdy Marco! I got the tickets from www.busticketonline.com, hope that helps!
Awesome video
No worries, glad I could help!
Very informative, Thank You
You're very welcome!
Thanks for the review
$60.00 Sing dollars is pricey. You can fly on the cheap with so many airlines. However, the plus side is that the bus alights at Berjaya Times Square in the heart of KL.
Indeed, the convenience of city center to city center is undeniable.
I booked a budget flight this year and they were all above above sgd70, some even 100! I dunno when the preCOVID prices will come back.
Well done !
the bus look alright ,will try, greeting from Holland
Hello there! Thanks for watching!
This rate was a one way... Because I was headed to KL to catch my flight home to Australia.
Excellent video, Ryan! I'd most definitely take this coach, as I love seeing places, via alternate modes of travel. Those seats are calling my name and I might just plan something like this for my next trip to Malaysia. Safe travels!
Ooooh if you ever, I'll be very eager to hear your views about it!
Where did you put a corpse ticket in the shopping centre golden
I'm sorry... What?
🤣🤣 Aeroline have been providing sure bus services from SG to KL a decade ago.
@@ryansofly yup same here in Manila...I'm a new subscriber and happy to be one...more power to you and enjoy your content so much I missed Singapore and Malaysia. Stay safe.
Oh I see you went to Manila, Philippines...can't wait for your content on my home country....I hope you enjoy Philippines and our foods! Take care bro...looking forward to your video.
@@docreggiefirefox4811 Oh i see! I flew Philippine Airlines back to OZ via MNL so it was only a transit in NAIA T2. But I totally enjoyed my flights! Told the crew I only want the Filipino option and they were so friendly explaining to me how to make it at home. Bangus Lamayo, baby! Hahahaha...
It's more than 3 years, I have not travel to KL via coach. I think it is quite good to travel by luxury coach which come with drinks and meals
Well, its time to start again eh? Hehe...
@@ryansofly how much is it for your trip?
Yes absolutely
Nice to see u here n expect to know howuch bus fare send the all road details n custom operations tks
Excellent English. Great tour.
Many thanks!
have not traveled that far up msia since covid, but I think maybe you can buy a ticket from KL back to SG for same price of 60 but in ringgit ... which is 3 times less because I always do it when I used to go up to melaka, from golden mile I buy a 1 way ticket and pay S$25 to melaka then once I disembark at melaka central bus station I immediately buy a return ticket for same price of 25 ringgit.
Interesting, thanks for sharing!
Hi, did you have to book the bus beforehand or you can purchase when you were boarding.
I used the portal www.busticketonline.com.sg to book it.
I have sat in a similar bus (single deck and no food) from TBS to Genting for RM10 only
That's so cheap!
Try it out, their bus name is Billion Stars Express
I did KL-SIN, SIN-KL twice..... in 2011 and 2013..... but with Aeroline
Thanks Ryan for sharing...wonder if there is a return trip to spore wth the same coach service daily..?
The bus fare is a lot cheaper buying it departing Malaysia, because you pay in RM.
Agree that rail still isn't a viable option. Maybe when the electrification is complete, but it will still be a pain to get to the Jahor station. Only downside of the bus service for me personally is no toilet.
Actually, if you need to go - the driver would be more than happy to divert to the nearest rest stop. That should bring some relief? Hehehe...
@@ryansofly Nah, I'll wait for the relief in a shady club in KL.
@@ryansofly Aeroline buses have a toilet, but no 'heavy duty' apparently.
@@Swaggerlot don't think toilet buses are meant for heavy duty. I've been on Greyhounds in the US and it's the same arrangement.
Hi Ryan, I never been to KL so how many days I should stay you reckon ?
It really depends on what you want to do there. To do the tourist thing, I'd reckon 4-5 days would do. There's much more to do outside of KL. Malacca, Penang, Sarawak, Sabah etc...
