In this video I'm demonstrating how to add an extra light in your house using Quinetic (kinetic) wireless switches. This is a great new technology which makes it very easy to add what would be complex indoor or outdoor lighting scenarios without a lot of the wiring that would be needed traditionally.
I expect in the coming years this kind of technology will become more and more common as it can also then integrate with home automation and other smart home technologies.
The Quinetic stuff is available in the UK from TLC Direct (this is not a sponsored video I'm just happy with the service and impressed with the technology!)

wouldn't the receiver draw constant power though whether the light is on or off?

It does yes but it's a trickle amount, the spec sheet says < 0.5W

Humans are the batteries, I've heard that somewhere before. The house looks like it's coming along great!

These wireless switches are really good, I fitted them 14 years ago, and expected "modern" technology to fail quite quickly, but they have given faultless service , and as we have 3 foot thick stone walls it saved a lot of channelling out, the signa even goes through the walls to operate the lights, I also have a remote plip that is paired so can put that wherever I need it, I have also used one of the receivers connected to a PIR so the a light operates wherever you enter the room. They're dead handy for bedrooms. No more having to walk to the door to turn the main light on/off - just replace the switch and have a remote paired with it by your bed. The range of things they do is pretty comprehensive.

So you are a DIY channel now instead of leather working is it?

No, I moved house and have made some DIY videos while I get stuff set up, then I'll be back to leather videos. But if I want to throw in some DIY videos then I will also.
