The most unrealistic thing about this is that anybody would stare at Jell-o for that long without feeling the urge to whack it with a spoon or jiggle it to make it wobble.
Also I absolutely adore the Gryphon and Mock Turtle's designs, such a shame we never saw them in the film or a follow-up.
Exactly.
I know, I know, I would have loved to see them in the film. For that matter, Adventures In Wonderland could have used them. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels would have been perfect as, respectively, the Mock Turtle and the Gryphon. And they most definitely should have been in the new Alice Bakery cartoon.
Well, we know why the Mock Turtle wasn't in the movie:
He was at culinary school.
Not even the Tim Burton movie.
Actually, he does make a cameo in the Tim Burton version.
@@caesarretamal3152 Wait, when ?
There is a painting of him on the wall in the scene where the Mad Hatter fights the Knave so that Alice can escape the Red Queen's castle.
Imagine that
I guess before the Internet, people's idea of a good time was sitting at the kitchen table watching jello.
I love these two character designs! Cutest Mock Turtle ever.
Alice in Wonderland came out in 1951, this commercial came out in 56. This explains my questions. While clearly Kathryn Beaumont, she does sound older here as she would have been 18 around this time.
Too bad those guys didn't appear in the movie.
You mean Gryphon and The Mock Turtle? Yup. Those guys never make it in the film. But at least we have this commercial for their mentioned appearance.
You know, there was also a Mickey Mouse Weekly Comic of Through the Looking Glass with the Lion and the Unicorn.
@@poweroffriendship2.0 That's like having Rocket Raccoon not appear in Guardians of the Galaxy and instead having him appear in a Geico Commercial.
Mock Turtle: It's so bright and colorful!
Me: Is it, though?
So true
I wheezed when I read this! 👌
I love this! I wish these characters made it into the movie! I love them! In the book and in the 1999 movie with Gene Wilder!
Cool story pal
Rip Gene Wilder
@Auzzie i fking forgot he was in that movie 😂
Wish these two were in the movie. They are like the best people she hung out with
0:16 This is where the good part starts! God, I wish these two were in the movie!
Well, your dream is about to come true
I'm honestly flabbergasted that Disney never made (a pre-Tim Burton) "Through the Looking Glass," during its sequel craze in the '90s and '00s. There was a goldmine of material from the books left to use, adults would have flocked to it as much as the kids because the source material is so popular....was it because they were focused on their princess and animal movies?
Didn't Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum come from Through The Looking Glass?
Tinyironfist they did
Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" is a mishmash of both books.
@@EcceHumanitatis And it leaves plenty out from both.
I prefer the Griffin & Mockturtle over the Walrus & Carpenter.
The former are nice & charming guys that you would invite to parties, the latter are untrustworthy & creepy.
So if The Gryphon and Mock Turtle were in Disney Alice in Wonderland the THATS how they would look in the film.
And I am disappointed that they weren’t in the film honestly. ^^’
Reminds me of once at work, a woman was looking for Jello and we didn’t have the cups we just had the mix, she was like “I don’t know how to make it” and I was like “you pour it in water and freeze it! It’s not that hard!”
I think Gryphon definitely experimented in college.

I didn't know Alice was a shill for Jello. Didn't know Kathryn Beaumont was either. Oh well, a paycheck is a paycheck.
She fell on hard times after waking up and going home for tea. Wonderland is a necessary danger.
Great commercial, wish Walt would’ve put them into the final version of the movie instead of phasing them out due to pacing issues. I also loved they brought back Kathryn Beaumont to reprise Alice for this ad and had Sterling Holloway(The Cheshire Cat and later, the voice of Winnie-The-Pooh)as the narrator.
Alice was moving like a character from Sleeping Beauty (1959) in this commercial.
It's probably because they reused animation from it. Disney did this a lot
Most of Alice's animation reels are redone versions from the Mad Tea Party.
0:27 _Why, then today's my Unbirthday too!_
0:41 _Why, Dinah's my cat. You see-- (Cat?!)_
0:48 _That was lovely!_
Only original reel it's from 0:31
Alice's movement at minute 0:31 reminds me of a frame of a character from Sleeping Beauty (1959)
@@El1000Toritos Sleeping Beauty was in production by then, but I don't think that advanced. It also rings me a bell, but I'm not sure from where. It was easier to identify what scenes were from Alice's the feature film.
@@El1000Toritos yess... something's telling me that that's Fauna's movement
@@matthewroman6807 Her eyes slightly changed size.
“Just quick as a wink, you have a beautiful desert.” How is that supposed to be a teaching on how to make Jell o?
I wish this two are in the classic movie too.
Voice Characterizations:
Sterling Holloway - Narrator
Dallas McKennon - Mock Turtle
That's Mel Blanc as the Gryphon!?
Tinyironfist No, sorry.
I figure as much. The notable thing about Mel Blanc was that he was never in any Disney productions except for Pinocchio. However his lines were cut in the finished product.
Wrong! He was the voice of Dinah the Cat in Alice in Wonderland!
Are you sure?
Something about the way Sterling Holloway says jello sounds funny.
In our school play, I'm the gryphon.. IM IN A ADVERT
Haha! It's sad that those two creatures never make it in the movie.
Sterling Holloway!
Jello goes well with some beautiful soup.
The narrator wants to know if it comes in Honey flavor.
Or catnip flavor 😻
@@beautifulnatasha Good one.
@@beautifulnatasha
Mockturtle prefers Kelp/Thistle flavor.
Quite interesting!
Gryphon is one of my favorite charachters in book, ı was realy upset he and Mock Turtle is not in 1951 animation and live-action ones. İ think it would be Alice was ride on Gryphon not Bannersnatch in live-action movie, it would be perfect❤
Thumbs up if Animation Lookback brought you here!
It didn't, but now I'm going to go watch it out of curiosity
So odd they were cut despite having so much concept art and even animation and probably voice recordings done
🐢: How to... cook jello?
👩: MMM, you don’t have to!
🐢: Can I entertain with jello?
👩: MMM, there’s nothing quite like jello for entertaining!
Love This ❤
She wasn't even making it jiggle or anything. She was just staring at it.
Hey at least this mock turtle's cuter than the one from 1933, the monstrosity still gives me nightmares to this day😢
Hey, isn't that Sterling Holloway doing the voiceover? I recognized his voice straight away. Yeah, I know, I watch way too many Silver Era Disney movies - stuff from the 40s to the 70s, according to the wiki (although no, Winnie The Pooh was not part of my childhood and I remember him more for the Cheshire Cat, Kaa and Roquefort.
Yes, that is Sterling Holloway. Read the other comments.
It was a rhetorical question.
Best Confersation Ever in a Disney Cartoon. 0:16
I wonder if they are going to reappear in Alice's Wonderland Bakery in either a inspiration of their originals OR have descendants of them like Alice and Harry the March Hare, possibly both Hattie and Fergie?
It's unlikely that's going to happen.
We’re actually getting the Mock Turtle(his name is Jacque) in season 2!!! No sign of Gryphon tho which is a shame
Omg i Love this commercial 😍
And they had a very lovely and uneventful afternoon. That's why it didn't make it into the film.
I looked this up just because I heard that the Mock Turtle and the Gryphon were in it
Mock Turtle.

Is that Kathryn voicing Alice?
Yes.
Thank you!
MagicEmperor yes
MagicEmperor I’d bet on it
It is, although she sounds a little older.
Wow where did this come from ? Amazing
Read the description.
Are the voices by kathryn Beaumont and sterling holloway ?
Yep.
Alice in Wonderland commercials
............................Are the griffin and the mock turtle a couple?
It seems like it.
Well, the Griffin accepted the Mock Turtle's invitation to a party, so they're not living together. So, not a _married_ couple at least. I still ship them, though.
The book always gave me the vibe that they were either two old friends who spent their time singing and reminiscing their youth, or a couple...or both, both is good. I'm going with both. You know what? I ship it now, this is happening.
