  • Patrice Banks and her all-female mechanic shop are changing the automotive industry one car at a time with Girls Auto Clinic. She has been on a crusade since 2008 to empower women about their cars. Last year, her dreams became a reality when she opened her first auto shop in Philadelphia.
With a beautiful supportive environment, an in-house nail salon, and attentive service, they are truly shifting the stereotype of the auto shop. It's a bonus that 5 out of the 7 mechanics are moms who share that the shift to an all-female shop has allowed them to truly fall in love with cars again as they cater to their kids. Rebecca, the first female master mechanic for BMW, brings her son Elijah and daughter Marley to work and knows they are in an environment that is not only safe but also filled with love. Patrice wants every woman to become a "sheCANic", a woman who's confident about caring for her car.
Bring a Girls Auto Clinic to your city by donating to their campaign now. www.indiegogo.com/projects/gi... .

My daddy showed me around about vehicles without me going to any schools. So I know more about vehicles and know how to properly install parts than any other sketchy or a dumb mechanic that half fast things or doesn't know what they're doing all spun out on the work. So I take care of my own vehicles, can't trust any of the mechanic shops. I hope everything works out for you on learning of vehicles honey.

I've always thought blue collar jobs need more women. In my graduating class, there is this girl who was mocked, and basically told she didn't know how to drive. She always kept her cool, never spoke a negative word about anyone. She had already been working in the automotive industry for a year or so. By the 3rd month of school, she was basically the teachers aid. Helping all the other MALE students when they got stuck on projects because she blew through all the project assignments. She's going to take many a "man's jobs" because she deserves to.

I live 10 miles from the nearest store, gas station, etc. Worse, my car was broke down. I was stranded.
    RUclips saved me, though.
I started with little fixes first. An oil change, of course. ✓ Then I had the radiator flushed, Thank, Jim! (use a cleaner)✓ I replaced the thermostat ✓Thanks, Jim! Then I replaced the heat temperature sensor. ✓ Fuel filter replaced✓ The O2 sensor replaced ✓ Air Intake sensor ✓ Throttle position sensor ✓ Fuel Intake sensor ✓ oil pressure sensor ✓.
Now, the hard stuff. Lol!! Front & Rear differential gear oil drain & fill. BTW, you have to remove the "pumpkin" to drain. ✓
My Jeep would lose power at random times all over town, still.
3 shops said the transmission needed replaced. I said "we'll see about that." I flushed the transmission fluid & filter 6/six times @ 60.00 each since November. Remember the Seafoam!! ✓.
BTW, the transmission fluid is reddish. The Jeep's 1st few drain & fills it was very thick (Bad!!) & Black. (Also Bad.)
Snow? Rain? Has to get done, right??
Fuel injectors & rail pulled replaced ✓ New tires, "Siped tires" that way I don't have to F**k with snow tires. Cash suckers just put 2 sandbags in the back in winter. ✓
Drain & fill the Transfer case (4 wheel drive) ✓ Power steering pump drain & filled. ✓ Add a bit of "Trans Tune" if steering seems stiff, difficult. ✓
Oh!! I pulled the valve cover & replaced the gasket. I couldn't believe previous owner used RTV gasket maker. Now I knew why the oil pressure was so low!! The RTV was nearly gone. ✓ I hired Jakes in the Valley to rewire it. ✓ I needed a jump every day... still !! Turns out the battery was wrong for my vehicle. So, I brought a big new battery. ✓
Since I'm slightly taller than a roll of Charmin, I bought a set of running boards to climb in. ✓ The right turn signal didn't work. Drivers following me probably thought me so rude Pull & Save, baby. ✓ The stock stereo had to go ✓
Oh, I nearly forgot!! It's funny now, not then. I noticed the muffler was getting was like swiss cheese. I had a brand new one put on. 5 miles down the road with a new muffler on it, (true story cuz I never lie) my man & I hear a badass backfire, followed by a clunk-clunk-clunk. We pull over like a coupla drunks at a parade.
What now??! It seems the new muffler had exploded. Wide open. Even more, it was bill & rent paying day. Landlords don't like it paid late, ya know. The Arkansas girl in me got the wire kept for moments like this. As it turns out, you don't really need that bleeping thing after all.
I drive that same Jeep today.
Oh, I hired a guy in Hillyard to replace the engine. He did a good job, too. Thanks Travis!! Last month, I had the oil changed & bought Royal Purple oil. I'm telling you it's spendy $$$ stuff.
Ladies, you really can do anything you want to do today. When someone tells you "No"....tell 'em. "Game On!!"
Don't ask for approval or permission from anyone. Not gonna happen. If you really want to pursue something, it's time you get started.
Everything you've read here is true & no details were embellished or fabricated.
