Kinilaw in mindanao should have ingredients of tabon2x , suha or lime, bahal na tuba, ginger, sibuyas, chili. salt or if you like add vetsin😅 Its more delicious than kalamansi, onion and ginger only

Hi Jelena. Great that you tried Kinilaw! 👍👍 If you want to tone down the spiciness, eat it with more rice and less the juice. Rice tend to be like a neutralizer. It tones down the flavour of the dish. If you have a salty dish like adobo for example and you eat it with rice, it becomes less salty. This is the reason we Filipinos tend to eat rice with everything.

Haven’t tried kinilaw yet but sounds similar to the Mexican ceviche I had, which has more ingredients added to raw fish (besides onion, lime juice, cucumber, salt/ginger), such as chopped tomatoes, jalapeno/hot chili, cilantro, avocado, and garlic.
Hope you find a school that is suitable to you and the kids.
