No one talks shit on thrash bands using the same riff for 40 years
Exactly. Love Wage War
Finn, I love that you actually are open about your criticisms and touchy subjects with your guests, while keeping it friendly and civil, good vibes throughout.
So basically "we didn't rip off of doomsday, just architects as a whole" lol
To be fair this is a very common riff these arent the only two bands to use it. Anyone that plays guitar has has basically played it with some rhythm variations, hell if you've ever adjusted the intonation on your guitar ur basically playing this riff
can you fix the subtitles? Its way off. Rest in peace comes up as recipes!
Bone apple tea
Cody! We were at the same show!
I wonder if your editor loves making these little clips 😆
The editor is me!
He said I have proof, but I’m not gonna show you 😂
Take a shot every time a member of Wage War says the word “like”. You’ll be dead a minute into the video. And yeah, they totally aped that riff.
"We believe you Cody" 😂😂😂
Right interview me next 😂
2:36 there are ideas in the cloud Thomas Jefferson said so
Listen to Human by Annisokay, it sounds almost identical to Animals by Architects.
I just did and no it doesn't. Animals uses a pretty common chugging pattern for part of it's main riff. I say this as a die-hard Architects fan.
Refuse resist by sepultura
B
Wage War is just far better than architects and they sound completely different.
All these bands ripped off Unholy Confessions.
Not true
Unholy Confessions is a rip off of other riffs
Architects has such a defined sound that I've grown bored of it because it permeates every release and starts to all sound monotonous. Not to say they're a bad band though. It just all sounds samey to me. Also, I kid you not but I wrote the breakdown to As I Lay Dying's "Through Struggle" before Shadows are Security ever came out or was announced. HOWEVER, it was while I was knee deep in an As I Lay Dying inspired scene. Very interesting interview.
He said the word like at least 20 times per sentence. He can't be trusted.
Architects could've written doomsday prior to 2017 and was just never released. Tom passed away in 2016 and doomsday was one of the last songs Tom started to write which can be found in an interview with kerrang. Seems too much like "we wrote it first" if they loved Architects and are so inspired by them then why bother even bringing it up. I get it, give credit where credit is due but why make a fuss about who wrote what first?
Don’t tell that to him, tell that to the thousands of people who say they ripped off Doomsday. He didn’t say they wrote the riff before them. He’s just said he wrote the riff before Doomsday came out.
Hot take but I think Architects ruined metalcore. I know genres have to progress and change but what they did to the genre just ruined its whole vibe for me. I’m biased though cause I grew up with the 00’s era but by the mid 10’s, things changed fast. Obviously some bands maintained the old style (Jesus Piece comes to mind, Texas In July new single, ABR, etc…)
I don't think that they have ruined it, they didn't make any band to copy them or use that ambience or that singing style. If you think about it metalcore pretty much killed itself even though I really enjoy all of it's eras
These subtitles are erroneously bad.
