I personally use the MAF (Mafetone) method. The equation is 180 minus your age. So if you are 45 years old, you want to keep your hr as close to 135 bpm as possible. I wear a Garmin watch, which automatically adjusts my zones as I get “fitter.” I don’t focus on pace at all right now. It’s all done on heart rate :) I hope that helps!
