Hi 👋 I’m Courtney. I’m passionate about helping others learn about triathlon, running, health and fitness. I’ve completed over 25 triathlons/duathlons including Ironman. I recently caught the ultra running bug and did my first 50k.

I originally recorded a video about my breast cancer diagnosis, but the disgnosis evolved a bit, so I decided not to upload it.
Here’s a short n sweet update on life after my double mastectomy and my plans to run/train through chemo treatment this summer.

One of the most important things to remember when you are going through something difficult….is that you are more than your circumstances. You can still control what you CAN control. You don’t have to be happy and positive all the time. BUT, if you see glimmers of hope and love from a place of gratitude, life is so much sweeter. “I am not my diagnosis.” 🙏🩷

Sorry… not for me. I am for healthy eating but I do despise it when companies market items “vegan salmon”, “vegan tuna”, etc. It is such a contradiction in terms. Not to mention how over processed the products are.
I agree! Usually it is franken-food which I try to avoid. This one is mango, chickpeas, quinoa and veggies :) I’ll dig more into the company and see what I can find. Btw, hugs! Hope you and A are doing great! ☺️🙏
@@courtneysmithtriathlon love that combo!!! Back when I was working in Vegas I used to make an amazing vegan burger. Haven’t made it in a long time. Might have to break that one out again. Lol.
This is a vegan thaw and serve sushi box I found at Whole Foods. The brand is called “Konscious” and it’s made in Canada (which explains why the ingredients are cleaner than those in the US). Would you try this?
Is it possible to go to the bathroom in the triathlon kit?
Great question: yes. The pros do it! Me personally, I find a portable potty :) But I am no pro lol
Ok so it is possible to take it off, go to the bathroom and then zip it back up? Some RUclipsrs refer to this as very difficult to do and no demonstrations of it anywhere. Thank you! Great vids
This is frightening, athletes don't get cancer like this and I'm so sorry for you. If you got one or several experimental covid injections, I encourage you to investigate natural detox protocols. God bless 🙏
I didn’t get any jabs. We have a strong family history of breast cancer. So I encourage people to get genetic testing 🙏

@@courtneysmithtriathlon Congrats for not getting any jabs💪. I was pressured into getting one and was sick for at least 6 months, it was horrible. The detox is important because of the shedding that occurred from the masses. Best of luck 🤞

We are going to run together one day soon!!
It’s important to give the body time to heal after surgery. But it is just as important to make movement (albeit easy movement) a priority. If you want to start any fitness routine, walking daily is one of the best ways to create the habit and prime your cardiovascular system for longevity and future fitness. I am 4 weeks post op, and SO happy to be walking and doing some very light glute work. Right now, it’s not about getting in great shape. It’s about remaining consistent in movement, preserving some fitness and moving meditation for mental strength. Hope you all have a great week of training! - Courtney

When I did my first marathon in 2022, I didn't get above 24km in my long runs. I completed it but it wasn't pretty but I'm aiming for better fitness this year so there will be a more disciplined and time consuming approach. Still, I'm proof that anybody can participate, it just required courage to give it a shot, especially being my first official race at 55.
I'm getting back to running after being injured for 3 months. My biggest challenge is my cardio so I'm adding in walking breaks to keep my heartrate down, especially in the heat.
That is so smart! And good for you for being smart about your hr especially in the heat. 🙌 Wishing you continued healing 💪

What is your biggest struggle with running?
I listened to your advice yesterday, I was able to comfortably run 1h20m yesterday is very hot conditions just by slowing my pace right down. The goal was to keep my heartrate down and it worked nicely. I'll do all of my long runs this way for the next little while. Thanks

Study up on chemo and radiation before you do it. You'd be better off doing nothing. Stay strong!
100%.. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. When you look at what DOES cause cancer vs what’s marketed to us, it’ll make you upset if you’re anything like me
The 50k and 50 miler got delayed. DELAYED. A speed bump. A detour. That’s okay. As @davidgoggins said “you don’t know me son!” For now, I walk. In 3 weeks, I’ll run. Maybe I’ll have hair.
