- Peter and John are arrested and brought before the council. Peter testifies that salvation comes because of Christ.
Acts 4:5-21
5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

It shows that even a man like Peter, who at one time denied the Savior, can repent and be used by the Holy Spirit to be a mighty power for good.

It is amazing that the same Peter who denied Christ three times in one night could say this to the leaders of a country.
Peter denied Christ three times; these men denied Him their whole lives. Should it be so amazing that the repentant be given such power and boldness to testify so to the unrepentant?
He also didn't kill himself either he actually repented even though Jesus told him he would deny Him 3 times

It must be remembered that Peter had not received the gift of the Holy Ghost when he denied Christ three times in one night. But when the Holy Ghost was given to him, then he knew of a certain the truth.
The same must be said of Judas.

@@shademon10 If Jesus Christ is God in Human form. The Holy Spirit is God inside of you. Through the power of the Holy Ghost you attain the gifts of faith and a certain union and closeness with the Father just like Jesus did. To answer your question: No. It's not difficult by any means for those who truly seek the one true God. From the very beginning, God desired relationship with you. And to that end, he came down from his glory in Heaven to die for your sins. To pay the ultimate price, so that we wouldn't have to. And the bible says that if you confess to God with your mouth that you're a sinner, who's ready to repent, and believe with all your heart that his son Jesus died in your place, then you're completely forgiven. And not only that, but he will send you a helper(the holy spirit) to dwell inside you to sustain you, strengthen you in hard times, and even convict you of your sin if need be. The spirit of God is like a 🔥 that burns in all those who believe and worship Christ.

The irony is these people are Holy men of their day, law givers and rulers, they have devoted their lives in the service ostensibly of God, but are forcing these early Chrsitian followers to deny His truth and all existence of the real God.

Oh, it will spread. Christ was sent to earth as a Jew because there was no other nation who would crucify their King; all other nations would have readily recognized and accepted Him.

How are we to say that he didn't found the church according to his glory?
How do we know he didn't impersonate Jesus after his death?
After all the apostles did go around supposedly performing healing miracles.
Did not Peter get crusafied as well?

I think Jesus was teaching to keep God in your heart not in an idol temple or a graven idol like the Torah.
