I enjoy your videos a lot. I just got a kraton 4s and I've heard to tighten the slipper clutch. I'm very new to the hobby. Is it something relatively easy to do?
@@jtmaner5900 thanks Jake 👊. It is fairly easy to tighten the slipper adjustment screw. I find it's easiest with the motor/slipper assembly is slid off the truck and I can hold the spur gear from underneath with finger pressure. You can do it by just removing the center driveshaft and using a 2mm driver though and applying firm downward pressure on the rear wheels to keep the spur from rotating as you tighten the slipper. I set mine 1/2-3/4 turn out from tight. 😎💪👊👊
One more quick question. Have you had any problems with the driveshaft plastic melting? The plastic on mine has melted a little towards the rear. Seems to be a common issue with the 4s.
@@jtmaner5900 I'm not 100% certain, but I suspect this is due to rocks or sticks getting tossed into the chassis tray and grinding into the rotating plastic 👀. I swapped mine after a construction site run. Same scenario. Found lots of rocks in tray and kept dumping them as I bashed, but later noticed my rear shaft had a sharp taper where friction had done it's thing. 🤘🤘

Great run Rich! 😎 Excellent tip too, I honestly still didn’t have a clue what that tool was for until you said it. 😂 I always used a flathead screwdriver with a notch grooved into the tip when I had to deal with plastic driveshafts. I just made a jump landing pad in my back yard. Stephan Z is helping me to put things in order. Giving advice to help me figure this stuff out. I sifted my area twice and have 15 inches deep at 8 by 4 foot wide landing area. By the time I have the truck bearings done I’ll have a superman ramp built. @@richduperbash2966 I wonder if you can help. I ran 6000Mah 60c lipos through mine today and the ESC gave in, May have not been the lipo's maybe just faulty ESC. But can the standard unit run 6000 lipo's or even 8000mah 100c Lipos?
@@FullOnRC standard ESC can run anything above 5000mah 35C minimum. 60-100C is better. 8000mah will add a lot of weight most likely though. Use a temp gun to monitor temps regardless. Might try recalibrating your ESC to the controller or doing a factory reset if it's not working. 👍

Hey thanks Chad😊!!!! That's tough to answer Brother 🤔. Both are great options. The 4s is very fast, extremely durable, and is quite simple to wrench on with it's modular design. The 6s has more brute power, more tuning options, and is better equipped for construction sites and harsher rough terrain due mostly to it's size. Both have district qualities I love 😍. The 4s is the more economical option if your budget is tighter 🤔. Really is up to you though. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks so much Brother 👊. I reinforced my body with Gorilla tape. I clean the inner surface with alcohol and hit the tape up with a heat gun briefly after it's all layed down. The tape definitely helps take the tinging sound away. 🍻
awesome run as usual rich! have you done any tuning to the shocks or diffs? seems like you've had much better durability than I've experienced: I'd be surprised if you don't have to replace that front driveshaft; both times that's happened to me, it wouldn't stay together for 5 seconds...

Any 120-150A ESC will work paired with a 3670-3674 motor rated for 4s. The Hobbystar is often out of stock because it works Killer. Might check for a Rocket motor. 🍻

@@miketye2805 I have blown very few driveshafts. Aside from keeping these rigs light and using the throttle somewhat judiciously on takeoffs, making sure the slipper isn't locked is very important. I generally run mine 1/4-1/2 turn out from snug.
hi rich. i need your opinion on 2 trucks. thinking to get now EXB over the typhon 6s. do both have those rear diff issues or really just the Kraton? I know the Kraton can go very fast on the dirt and street. of course typhon is faster but also can break easy at high speeds. I have the Notorious 6s so i can always just convert that into a typhon anyway with some new arms and suspension very easy and shock towers. getting the EXB ill have to do the shims on the diff right away or should i just wait and break it first?
The Typhon is probably the most durable overall due to the compact design 💪. You'd also need the shorter links, driveshafts, mounts, body, and smaller side skirts to convert your Noto to a Typhon 🤔. You could keep the bigger Noto hubs and stub axels for about an inch of extra width 👌. ARRMA is releasing new planetary gear spacers to eliminate the issues many have had with the rear EXB diff. The Typhon has straight cut diff gears with the traditional internals. They hold fine unless you put huge wheels on and abuse them. I think the bigger question is whether you want the Kraton or Typhon 6s 🤔. Both are fantastic in my opinion. Just keep in mind the Typhon can't tackle the rougher terrain as well as the Kraton. 🍻😎💪👊👊
@@richduperbash2966 thank you Rich. Yeh I'm gonna go with the EXB since it's bigger and just looks bad ass. I have some extra parts which I got really cheap BLX 2050 motor and 185 esc from a friend. Stock electronics. Just gonna buy a nice servo. I wanted the typhon for speed runs but after few time ls with typon 3S they get alittle boring plus I can easy crash it and pretty much have to rebuild the car since they go over 70 so easily. EXB sounds more fun and handling is great as you said in your videos. I can still do speed run with exb I already got a 40T spur and 27 pinion gear that should easily get over 70 if diff hold up. Hopefully it will work with the EXB. Would you recommend I check fluid in the diffs before even using the truck ? Or just shim it up first as well as diff fluids.
@@paulrakis I honestly didn't check mine the first couple runs, but it doesn't hurt to open them up to be sure 👍. The EXB diffs take a little practice to reassemble correctly. I'm still running the stock servo and shocks. The 3s shocks leak, but I haven't had a problem with my 4s ones 🤔. I think ARRMA made a slight tweak to the slipper clutch after the first batch of rigs. Mine hasn't been a problem. It's easy to tighten or add a drop of thread lock to the set screw if needed. 🍻

Thanks a lot for the info. Feels like it needs a stiffer suspension especially on the front. It rolls so much in the turns compared to the 6s version. What it really needs are anti-sway bars. Sure wish someone with connections would put a bug in someone's ear.😁 I've gotton too old and with the hands swelling and hurting, I can do nothing at speed, except fall down. Yes, I think I was at the time. These rigs don't have sway bars and are pretty light. Not sure what steering is possible, but she gets the job done for my bashing needs without running into solid objects. 😎💪👊👊

What would I need to change to turn my 4s into a 6s ? Will the 185 esc run a 6s motor and if so can I just get the sAme 6s motor that is in my Typhon 6s ? I’ve already upgraded both my diffs and yokes to metal hot racing
The BLX185 ESC is from the 6s rigs. You could certainly run the 6s 2050kv Typhon 6s motor with it. Gearing with just depend, but it should rip with the stock pinion. 🍻
@@Gazelle0078 no I don't. Might check GPM out of China. They make all sorts of upgrades. Just realize that chassis itself was designed to support lighter components. Each piece of aluminum puts further burden on it. That's fine for speed runs, but will lead to other breakages out bashing.
@@richduperbash2966 I upgraded both yokes and diffs to hot racing aluminum already so that should help. I’m worried with the 6s power that it’s going to shred the drive shaft. Traxxas makes an aluminum drive shaft but I don’t know if the inside is shaped the same. If it’s to long it could be cut to length
@@Gazelle0078 just realize the stock telescopic driveshaft allows the chassis to flex without hindrance or damage.. It's honestly one of the best features with the 3&4s line. I would try 6s and see how it goes. My Traxxas driveshafts always bent 😝. Used to drive me nuts
No I haven't. I replaced one awhile back because a rock wore a groove in it. If the bearings are maintained and rocks don't jam under or alongside the shaft, I've had no issues. Running rubber sealed bearings in the slipper housing and input gears front and rear is a must. 🍻😎💪👊👊

I'm honestly not at expert on the different chargers Troy. I love my Hobbystar motors and Lipos. That's the 3674 2650kv from RCJuice. Just go to their website and search 3674. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Mr. Duperbash keeping front tyre wear to a minimum again, and racking up the frequent flyer points. I have said this before, but this platform started life as a cuddly little brushed rtr with an included battery and charger. And here we have this sort of behaviour.
Arrma needs to revise the arms on this car or at least provide the replacements for dirt cheap while pumping up production around the clock. Everyone who owns the car will break them and as proof they are sold out everywhere. From my piddly incident that broke mine, I can see that this part will need to be swapped out almost as often as lipos. Rich’s awesome videos make this car look like a tank, but it seems far more fragile in reality.
Wanted to mention the slipper was a bit loose the first part of the vid as you may have heard 👀. Still quick as heck, but Crazy fast with it set correctly 👍
I enjoy your videos a lot. I just got a kraton 4s and I've heard to tighten the slipper clutch. I'm very new to the hobby. Is it something relatively easy to do?
@@jtmaner5900 thanks Jake 👊. It is fairly easy to tighten the slipper adjustment screw. I find it's easiest with the motor/slipper assembly is slid off the truck and I can hold the spur gear from underneath with finger pressure. You can do it by just removing the center driveshaft and using a 2mm driver though and applying firm downward pressure on the rear wheels to keep the spur from rotating as you tighten the slipper. I set mine 1/2-3/4 turn out from tight. 😎💪👊👊
One more quick question. Have you had any problems with the driveshaft plastic melting? The plastic on mine has melted a little towards the rear. Seems to be a common issue with the 4s.
@@jtmaner5900 I'm not 100% certain, but I suspect this is due to rocks or sticks getting tossed into the chassis tray and grinding into the rotating plastic 👀. I swapped mine after a construction site run. Same scenario. Found lots of rocks in tray and kept dumping them as I bashed, but later noticed my rear shaft had a sharp taper where friction had done it's thing. 🤘🤘

@@richduperbash2966 I wonder if you can help. I ran 6000Mah 60c lipos through mine today and the ESC gave in, May have not been the lipo's maybe just faulty ESC. But can the standard unit run 6000 lipo's or even 8000mah 100c Lipos?
@@FullOnRC standard ESC can run anything above 5000mah 35C minimum. 60-100C is better. 8000mah will add a lot of weight most likely though. Use a temp gun to monitor temps regardless. Might try recalibrating your ESC to the controller or doing a factory reset if it's not working. 👍

Hey thanks Chad😊!!!! That's tough to answer Brother 🤔. Both are great options. The 4s is very fast, extremely durable, and is quite simple to wrench on with it's modular design. The 6s has more brute power, more tuning options, and is better equipped for construction sites and harsher rough terrain due mostly to it's size. Both have district qualities I love 😍. The 4s is the more economical option if your budget is tighter 🤔. Really is up to you though. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks so much Brother 👊. I reinforced my body with Gorilla tape. I clean the inner surface with alcohol and hit the tape up with a heat gun briefly after it's all layed down. The tape definitely helps take the tinging sound away. 🍻

Any 120-150A ESC will work paired with a 3670-3674 motor rated for 4s. The Hobbystar is often out of stock because it works Killer. Might check for a Rocket motor. 🍻

@@miketye2805 I have blown very few driveshafts. Aside from keeping these rigs light and using the throttle somewhat judiciously on takeoffs, making sure the slipper isn't locked is very important. I generally run mine 1/4-1/2 turn out from snug.
hi rich. i need your opinion on 2 trucks. thinking to get now EXB over the typhon 6s. do both have those rear diff issues or really just the Kraton? I know the Kraton can go very fast on the dirt and street. of course typhon is faster but also can break easy at high speeds. I have the Notorious 6s so i can always just convert that into a typhon anyway with some new arms and suspension very easy and shock towers. getting the EXB ill have to do the shims on the diff right away or should i just wait and break it first?
The Typhon is probably the most durable overall due to the compact design 💪. You'd also need the shorter links, driveshafts, mounts, body, and smaller side skirts to convert your Noto to a Typhon 🤔. You could keep the bigger Noto hubs and stub axels for about an inch of extra width 👌. ARRMA is releasing new planetary gear spacers to eliminate the issues many have had with the rear EXB diff. The Typhon has straight cut diff gears with the traditional internals. They hold fine unless you put huge wheels on and abuse them. I think the bigger question is whether you want the Kraton or Typhon 6s 🤔. Both are fantastic in my opinion. Just keep in mind the Typhon can't tackle the rougher terrain as well as the Kraton. 🍻😎💪👊👊
@@richduperbash2966 thank you Rich. Yeh I'm gonna go with the EXB since it's bigger and just looks bad ass. I have some extra parts which I got really cheap BLX 2050 motor and 185 esc from a friend. Stock electronics. Just gonna buy a nice servo. I wanted the typhon for speed runs but after few time ls with typon 3S they get alittle boring plus I can easy crash it and pretty much have to rebuild the car since they go over 70 so easily. EXB sounds more fun and handling is great as you said in your videos. I can still do speed run with exb I already got a 40T spur and 27 pinion gear that should easily get over 70 if diff hold up. Hopefully it will work with the EXB. Would you recommend I check fluid in the diffs before even using the truck ? Or just shim it up first as well as diff fluids.

@@paulrakis I honestly didn't check mine the first couple runs, but it doesn't hurt to open them up to be sure 👍. The EXB diffs take a little practice to reassemble correctly. I'm still running the stock servo and shocks. The 3s shocks leak, but I haven't had a problem with my 4s ones 🤔. I think ARRMA made a slight tweak to the slipper clutch after the first batch of rigs. Mine hasn't been a problem. It's easy to tighten or add a drop of thread lock to the set screw if needed. 🍻

I watch your videos and wonder how you can keep up with what you're doing. So fast paced!😮 I have the Kraton 4s and for my stay on the ground driving, I think I like it as much as the 6s.

Thanks a lot for the info. Feels like it needs a stiffer suspension especially on the front. It rolls so much in the turns compared to the 6s version. What it really needs are anti-sway bars. Sure wish someone with connections would put a bug in someone's ear.😁

Yes, I think I was at the time. These rigs don't have sway bars and are pretty light. Not sure what steering is possible, but she gets the job done for my bashing needs without running into solid objects. 😎💪👊👊

The Kraton 4s is addicting to drive 😍. Especially with high traction wheels. My heart is always towards 6s, but these 3-4s rigs wind up something fierce. Just pure RC FUN 🤗👍👍😎💪👊👊
I'm trying to fit that 185 ESC on my 3s typhon but I'm having difficulties..any ideas?
I'm thinking you'd need to either raise the body or fit the ESC between the motor and ESC stand over the chassis 🤔. Might check on the ARRMA 3 and 4s Facebook Forum. 👌👌😎💪👊👊

I'm not positive Chad 🤔. My guess is 60+ mph. With the Talion Katar wheels it feels quicker than the 6s rigs 👀😎💪👊👊
What would I need to change to turn my 4s into a 6s ? Will the 185 esc run a 6s motor and if so can I just get the sAme 6s motor that is in my Typhon 6s ? I’ve already upgraded both my diffs and yokes to metal hot racing
The BLX185 ESC is from the 6s rigs. You could certainly run the 6s 2050kv Typhon 6s motor with it. Gearing with just depend, but it should rip with the stock pinion. 🍻

@@Gazelle0078 no I don't. Might check GPM out of China. They make all sorts of upgrades. Just realize that chassis itself was designed to support lighter components. Each piece of aluminum puts further burden on it. That's fine for speed runs, but will lead to other breakages out bashing.
@@richduperbash2966 I upgraded both yokes and diffs to hot racing aluminum already so that should help. I’m worried with the 6s power that it’s going to shred the drive shaft. Traxxas makes an aluminum drive shaft but I don’t know if the inside is shaped the same. If it’s to long it could be cut to length
@@Gazelle0078 just realize the stock telescopic driveshaft allows the chassis to flex without hindrance or damage.. It's honestly one of the best features with the 3&4s line. I would try 6s and see how it goes. My Traxxas driveshafts always bent 😝. Used to drive me nuts

No I haven't. I replaced one awhile back because a rock wore a groove in it. If the bearings are maintained and rocks don't jam under or alongside the shaft, I've had no issues. Running rubber sealed bearings in the slipper housing and input gears front and rear is a must. 🍻😎💪👊👊

I'm honestly not at expert on the different chargers Troy. I love my Hobbystar motors and Lipos. That's the 3674 2650kv from RCJuice. Just go to their website and search 3674. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Mr. Duperbash keeping front tyre wear to a minimum again, and racking up the frequent flyer points. I have said this before, but this platform started life as a cuddly little brushed rtr with an included battery and charger. And here we have this sort of behaviour.

This motor probably is 5s rated, I'd have to double check. The BLX185 ESC doesn't recognize 5s though. Only 4 or 6s or lower. 😎💪👊👊
Arrma needs to revise the arms on this car or at least provide the replacements for dirt cheap while pumping up production around the clock. Everyone who owns the car will break them and as proof they are sold out everywhere. From my piddly incident that broke mine, I can see that this part will need to be swapped out almost as often as lipos. Rich’s awesome videos make this car look like a tank, but it seems far more fragile in reality.
