I will NEVER forgive David Zaslav for his disrespectful treatment of animation as a medium, cancelling dozens of brilliant projects made by passionate people, and overall being a greedy scumbag whose practices would make Bob Iger blush. The sooner Zaslav is fired from WBD, the better.
Honestly what pisses me off the most is that a good number of said projects are ready for release, so it’s not even halfway into production thing. Zaslav is basically saying “Thanks for all your hard hours on this project, but we decided not to do anything with it”
The problem is hiring CEOs who can’t see the value in things that people besides themselves enjoy. Zaslav doesn’t care about cartoons so he thinks that no one should. It’s just a bit selfish
@@ChildishjuVERY SELFISH

I said it before honestly David Zaslav is doing a worse job for animation at Warner bros than even Stuart Snyder was with cartoon network in the late 2000s.

Seeing Craig McCracken/Genndy Tartakovsky to JG Quintel/Rebecca Sugar makes me smile makes me want the story continue of this Network
Hearing their passion for these shows feels me with so much joy
At this point, I’m positive that Zaslav has some kind petty grudge against WB and cartoons.
I think he’s just one of those old guys who thinks cartoons are for three year olds and no one else. So since he doesn’t care about cartoons, no one does. Kinda selfish viewpoint tbh
One of the weird things is that Cartoon Network Studios EUROPE (now Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe) is still alive and well. Hell, they literally make Gumball, and are working on season 7. (yes, Gumball is a European show)
Didn't they get rebranded into Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe?

@@redstone0234 “Surprised?!”
@@highfiveanimations "Not really. That lame-brained HBO Max purge idea could only be cooked up by a toon!".
NOT JUST ANY TOON!!!
At least Judge Doom has redeeming qualities.
The world will be a much better place when David Zaslav is fired from Warner Bros. and replaced by someone who isn't a sexist, racist, anti-animation bigot. Zaslav is guilty of purging a plethora of content from MAX (formerly HBO Max), turning down many promising animated series with female and non-white leads, attempting to delete the Coyote Vs. ACME movie despite a lot of people (myself included) wanting to see it), and denying Josh Fairhurst of Limited Run Games the licenses for Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs, thus preventing Fairhurst from releasing a compilation of Konami's games based on those franchises for modern consoles (I did an entire video rant on that subject and I recommend seeing it if you haven't already).

@@blackyhackystudios It's also a way of triggering Trekkies who hate Star Trek: Discovery...
Bro I swear all the Discovery shows are the same
Maybe MeTVToons will show the original Cartoon Network shows, most likely from 1996 to 2005, most of us will probably be around late 30s or even 40s for late 2000’s shows shows like Chowder, Marvelous Misadventures Of Flapjack, and then the big ones like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, and The Amazing World of Gumball, then short lived shows like OK KO to be featured on the channel. Either they will have new cartoons one day or the animation guild would either create a new channel or find a network that actually offers rights. Or possibly even the independent companies outperform Hollywood at animation, Hollywood would probably cease to exist as every indie creator has their new mini studios with lots of creativity.
I would love it if The Powerpuff Girls (1998-2005) and Dexter's Laboratory becomes the first two CN cartoons to air on MeTV Toons in the future...
If that were to happen, that would be The Powerpuff Girls' second broadcast premiere since their cartoon's brief 2002 appearance on the Kids' WB schedule to promote The Powerpuff Girls Movie, which was Cartoon Network's first and only cartoon to get a theatrical film adaptation at the time.
The reason I would like to see The Powerpuff Girls (including the two pilot episodes) get added to MeTV Toons first, is because of the pop culture and recognition surrounding it, as it was Cartoon Network's most popular cartoon in the late 1990s and the early-mid 2000s, plus the show is filled references to other classic Hanna-Barbera and Warner Bros. cartoons and pop culture references relating to The Beatles, disco music, super heroes, tokusatsu and anime. It would feel like it would fit in well with the other classic Hanna-Barbera-produced, Warner Bros.-owned cartoons on MeTV Toons' schedule!
Swat Katz and Godzilla (Hanna-Barbera) should be there too!
@@HB_Doraemon_Multitoons I grew up with both of those, Swat Katz on Boomerang, and Hannah Barbera Godzilla on RUclips, although Swat Katz is somewhat co-licensed by the guys who created it aside from some guys that worked at Hannah Barbera at the time I think. HBG might cost another penny since Toho of course but not sure who else worked on it or owns the license.
@@Justin-Hill-1987 you know, there’s a big chance we’ll see most of the Classic CN shows before any of the Amblin cartoons like Tiny Toons or Animaniacs, especially if it’s on Air. Given the time slots and choices of cartoons from different eras, I’d say we’ll see Powerpuff Girls every Saturday from 10:30 pm to 12:00 am, whether it’ll share the three slots with other Cartoon Cartoons or other Warner properties, or even other shows from different companies.
Honestly, when WBD collapses, we should make that man pay.

It’s just sad at this point
When I saw Cartoon Network website was shut down that instantly hurt my childhood 😢
The end of an era..
I know this isn’t a cartoon, but Sesame Street was really done dirty by Zaslav, as well. One of HBO Max’s selling points was the fact that it housed tons of Sesame Street content, including episodes from each and every season. But when it went through its Max transformation, the platform wipes out most of the episode catalog, and now the only seasons left are 1, 5, 7 and every season from 39 to now. They even got rid of The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo, a Max original! And like Juju said with CN, it doesn’t make sense to do this, as HBO partly owns Sesame Street, and having episodes from every era of the show makes it appealing to everyone, kids and adults.
The same can go for most of Adult Swim's shows.
We've lost stuff like Space Ghost, seasons 1-12 of Squidbillies, Metalocalypse, Venture Bros, and tons of their obscure shows from Tom Goes to the Mayor to The Shivering Truth.
It's like Zaslav doesn't want us to have nice things. :(

Sadly, Cartoon Network has been going downhill LONG before Zaslav came in the picture. CN Real was a big mistake and the endless reruns of Teen Titans Go was the final nail in the coffin for me. Streaming services pretty much suck anymore, physical media all the way.

I hate when I hear someone who loves animation still refer to Cartoon Network as a network "for kids." This is part of why animation gets no respect. Barely any of the people who like it see it as anything more than something for children and nostalgia, so why should anyone else give it any more respect than that?
Even if it is "just for kids" why cancelling it?! It doesn't even make sense from a Marketing point of view.
@@yan13502 Most peoples' first instinct is to get rid of whatever they don't like or don't respect. Things intended for children get the axe very quickly because of that lack of respect. I don't like to defend zaslav but the reason he keeps removing those iconic shows season by season or just the whole thing at once is because it does cost warner money to pay for the server space for that property, it makes a lot more sense to license seasons out to competing companies to make more money off a series they know people are interested in from a nostalgia point. Netflix and Amazon will tend to over pay for those things. WB has been bleeding for years and it doesn't seem like its stopping anytime soon.
*Well, I have a solution for this.*
*LOWER* David Zaslav's pay.
*That way they avoid cutting the cost to remove properties on the streaming service they have.*
@@RickyPaquiot284 🤷🏾♂️ he pays himself
Unlucky dreamer, you’ve always been a real one my man. It’s good to know that you’re willing to voice your own opinion even if it’s different than mines. Respect!
But while what you’re saying is 100% true, I don’t think advertising themselves as the place for animation and all of cartoon networks cartoons and then removing most of them is kinda false advertisement.
And also removing random seasons out of the context of a show just because it’s animated just goes to show that he doesn’t really respect the medium. He’d never remove a random season from a live action story driven show because then you’d have no context with the story.
But for some reason the people at hbomax don’t believe that story driven animated shows ever exist. Imagine if they removed season 3 of Steven universe or adventure time just so they can save space, that would make it borderline unwatchable.
I don’t think zaslav has horrible villain intent, I just don’t think anyone over at Warner really cares about animation enough to give it the respect they give other shows.
I do totally understand and AGREE with where you’re coming from though bro. Because everything you said is true.
But I don’t think they’d license out two random seasons of game of thrones (just an example) because they respect that story enough to have it be told in completion.
I just hope they hire someone to oversee the animation department similar to how James Gunn is overseeing DC
The Warner Animation Purge is, in fact, the worst thing to come out in 2022. And 2022 is just pure horse shit.
When you’re a kid cartoons used to literally mean something when channels gave it soul now Stuff like this is why I had felt that David zaslav is just sabotaging Cartoon Network as a whole ever since the Warner deal with time AT&T, It almost feels like an animation version of child abuse not just from one company but more than one. After Stuart Snyder, Christina miller took over by canceling action shows and produce ttg on a regular basis to which began the fall of the network the same time Nickelodeon fell off right after 2009.
Pirating is WRONG. What’s more wrong is letting these companies take advantage of us. I dont need to pay for 4 services to watch a single season thats spread on multiple networks to just get my money. Bringing it back to “pirating.” You can still use a VCR and record your shows on a VHS to play on later, FOREVER w/ proper vhs care. No service can stop you from taping it on a VHS in 2024. Just DONT SELL IT. Its for YOU. Free trials are VERY COMMON do it during this time.
I believe in my heart the creators would understand. I havent personally tried this option but im close. I know the creators/writers/everyone involved dont get recognition. I know they made the shows but paying the company every month that hurt the creators I love, I cant do it. I would love to support them directly if I can. Im learning more since the strikes & this video helped tremendously to add to my knowledge. Thank you bro❤
Pirating is moral, and the right thing to do. Several creators (including Owen Dennis, creator of Infinity Train) have advocated for piracy multiple times.
You want a product that they aren't selling anymore, but you can easily get it online for free. Why wouldn't you take the easy route?
Sorry to say but there's no other choice and also Physical Media will end up being rare and expensive in the future too.
And for some of these shows they just straight up have no physical release, like Seasons 3 and 4 of Infinity Train
I appreciate your comment! It’s hard to support a service that has been treating the creators you love harshly. Things aren’t looking great but that could change. All it takes is the right person getting through to zaslav and then we’d be able to truly enjoy what we love but for now, support animation on any way you can. Even if it’s just using hashtags to boost engagement. We gotta let Warner know how much it means to us!

I do get where you’re coming from, and no zaslav isn’t the entire problem. But while what Stuart Snyder did really hurt the network but even that didn’t kill it. In all honesty it’s streaming and the fact that most kids don’t care about sitting in front of a tv anymore. Why do that when you can watch anything you want on your phone. @@PetalpuffZ I'm just saying that these companies don't give a damn if you stop watching. That won't make them try to win you back. They'll just decide that it's not worth the money to keep producing what doesn't sell. I'd LOVE to see quality animation on TV again, but that would require a level of respect for the art form that not enough people have.
@@PlayStonkers I want the same too but I love and respect all animation but I’ll agree with what your saying but still! We will watch animation still nobody can stop us which I get!
I STAND WITH ANIMATION!
The more that goes on with how Animation is treated the more I think the Learning With Pibby Trailer was more of a warning to us
That’s crazy lol, I didn’t even connect the two. Maybe it was a metaphor
From the ashes of Cartoon Network rises MeTV Toons.
METV toons is decent, but it's no powerhouse era.
I think IATSE and The Animation Guild needs to stop tax write offing movies like Coyote Vs Acme, Scoob Holiday Haunt, cancel Velma, end anti woke culture, and more personal/original stories, less live action remakes and sequels like Toy Story 5 and live action how to train your dragon and animation is not for kids, it’s a work of art that deserves more respect and RUclips must be stopped for COPPA “made for kids” bots immediately
To be honest, i knew the writing was on the wall way before the discovery merger.
This is true. Very very true. Merger didn’t help though
Now he is shutting down boomerang, one of big mistakes and regrets that Dave will ever make, he is lot worse than bob Iger
David Zaslav hates toons! He hates animation! That’s why he’s the villain in my live-action/animated Animaniacs movie. I hate David Zaslav so much.
All this started all because Discovery plus turn out to be a bomb he's so butthurt Discovery Plus to be a big failure or
We need to #savecartoonnetwork before things get worse
#savecartoonnetwork !!
Then reunite all the writers back
Someone really needs to remove this guy.
I mean if he canceled Velma as well, okay I will think he did do something good.
3:50 me and you both; I predicted this 2 years ago on my podcast channel, but thought I was wrong a year later, but I am actually right on the money, but it’s often surprising that I still see CN on cable with Toonami. IIn result everyone this is how we got the Minecraft movie coming next year; thanks for sharing this support from your new subscriber, and have a great day! 🥰😇😊😇🥰
I appreciate your comment!! And I’m glad to have you as a subscriber!! What’s your podcast? I’d love to check it out
@@Childishju No problem, my podcast is called Talking Fun With Edo Podcast, the episodes I’ve talked about it is 22 and the 24th episodes of the topic. Also please enjoy my recent episodes too, and have a great day. 🥰😇😊😇🥰
If the animation Industry hadn't been so badly managed before he showed up, this never would have happened.
Don't blame the doctor for cutting off a horribly infected limb when the owner of said limb let it get that bad, to begin with
Great analogy! But I’m not blaming him for the downfall of Cartoon Network, we all know it was going down hill anyways. I’m blaming him for not caring enough to let the legacy of what it was live on. My problem is how he manipulated audiences into buying hbo max for the cartoons, only to end up removing all of them (even though he still advertised them) and disregarding all of what came before. I don’t hate him, I tried to make it clear that he’s not a bad guy for deleting a few things. But it’s clear he doesn’t want or care about the cartoons, so much so that he’d remove everything.
I grew up with Cartoon Network. out of all the cartoon channels, it offered so much more. if I had to choose between Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network, I would immediately choose CN.
Butch Hartman may claim to be the creator of childhoods with Fairly Odd Parents and Danny Phantom, but CN is what really made my childhood up to adulthood. it gave us the 2003 Star Wars: Clone Wars, it gave us Toonami with so many animes that I still watch today from Dragon Ball Z to Kill La Kill, it gave us Samurai Jack, Megas XLR, Bionicle: The Movie, Ben 10, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed Edd n Eddy, 2003 Teen Titans, and so many other great shows.
Seeing CN go down is seeing my childhood go down.
