The way Shibano in this game suddenly has center influence, is so impressive. Classic Shibano game plot twist.

I just got back from Japan trip yesterday, visited Nihon Ki-In last week. On the second floor there is a big hall where you can play after paying fee and registering. It was a rainy day and not many players were available to play, but still managed to get some games. On the reception they speak nice English, but the players (which were mostly older guys) not really. They seemed really kind however. According to the article on Sensei's Library the area is open from Monday to Friday, 11am - 5pm, which seems to be correct, as around 5 pm they were closing the hall and small gift shop located also on 2F. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to check the other floors, hope you can do it :) Enjoy your visit!

Hey Nick, just visited Japan in October and visited a couple go related places. The official nihon kiin building only didn't allow games on a certain day (think it was saturday? Cant remember).
I got a lot of good games in that day at the other nihon kiin go center in ginza. It's on the 7th floor of an office building there lol
    Have fun man!!

I noticed the wall direction thing in the opening back when I was looking at a lot of AI go a couple of years back. It seems like a lot of the time AI likes to pick a direction for its wall based on where it can provoke a fight to occur moreso than where it has space to build, which makes some sense along with the "overextension".

The basement of the Nihon kiin is pretty interesting, kinda like what was suggested by hikaru no go. There's some sort of museum down there.
If you can swing by there, Ochanomizu is a couple stops away on the sobu line and has a lot of musical instrument shops.

Is it your first time to Toyko? I'm a German living in Japan (Nagoya). Been to Tokyo twice (sadly never to the Nihon Kiin there). I could recommend a very tasty fruit shop (Sembikiya). Go related I am only familiar with clubs here in and around Nagoya.
