    Having been an optician and having some knowledge of lasik surgery one thing I know is that because you actually wore contact lenses rather than glasses to correct your eyesight. I am basing that on looking at all of your You Tube caps and not seeing any with you wearing glasses. So something you didn't mention is that you were instructed to not wear contact lenses for a certain amount of time prior to getting your surgery. The amount of time can vary depending on how often you wore contacts as well the doctor doing the surgery. So for maybe as much as three weeks you were wearing your glasses all the time. Now the reason you needed to stop wearing contacts is because when you wear contacts on a daily basis your contacts form a ridge where they sit on your corneas. That ridge needs to flattened out for the best results of lasik. Also to be a good candidate for lasik your eyesight should be completely stable. That means that for at least 12 to 18 months you didn't need your glasses or contacts prescriptions changed. So i'm assuming your eyes were in fact stable. Because you seldom were seen wearing glasses many of your friends were surprised to see you wearing glasses and maybe didn't even know you wore glasses or contacts. Honestly, you look really cute wearing glasses and I'm sure you were told that by others as well. Over the years in talking with people that have had lasik most all of them said they actually didn't mind wearing glasses and in fact even liked how they looked wearing glasses. What they didn't lie was not being able to see without their glasses. I wonder if that might be the same with you? I'm sure you hated waking up each day and when you opened your eyes all you saw was blur until you ut your glasses on. Anyway please provider an update on your vision and how your eyes are doing now after 18 months since getting lasik.

      Hey. The only side effect I would say I have is dry eyes sometimes. I put the refresh lubricating eye drops whenever I feel like I have spent too much time in front of a screen or its dry weather. Otherwise my vision has been perfectly fine. I would recommend it because it really improves quality of life not having to worry about glasses. Depends on your eye power and how comfortable you are wearing glasses. Make sure you do your research and get it done from an experienced doctor that's all.

    Hi, just wanted to ask why didn't you go for SMILE surgery ?

    • @AlifiyaLakdawala
      @AlifiyaLakdawala  Год назад +1

      Hey, the doctor suggested Lasik based on my eye health, age and eye number that needed to be corrected. I had only farsightedness that needed correction and the healing time with Lasik was comparably faster than Smile. But to be honest, I went with the doctor’s opinion on this. Have you done an eye surgery as well? Or considering to?

    • @soundmanpt
      @soundmanpt Год назад

      @@AlifiyaLakdawala I'm a retired optician and having been R -3.75 / L -4.25 you were nearsighted, not farsighted. It's been at least 18 months since you had your lasik surgery and by now your eyes should be as stable as they are ever going to be. So In reading all of the questions asked of you and your replies to them your right eye seems to be a little less than perfect if things at a distance is a bit blurry still. When you went for you year exam how well were you able to see the eyechart? You should be at around 20/15 in both eyes which is slightly better than what is considered as being perfect vision. Did the doctor suggest or maybe even prescribe you with glasses to correct the vision in your right eye? Now I'm sure the thought of needing glasses again isn't high on your list of things you want. But if you were to need glasses they would be extremely weak and only needed part time. Your previous glasses were much stronger and without them you really weren't able to see much of anything were you? Without your glasses / contacts everything was just blobs of color.

      Hi Sowmya,
      So it’s been 3 months since my surgery and last month I had slight blurriness in my right eye far vision. When I spoke to the doctor, he said it’s normal and mostly happens due to dry eye and he suggested to put false tear eye drops to help with that. It usually takes 2-3 months for vision to stabilize depending on the eye number. He also told me one eye will be dominant in terms of clarity of vision so for me it’s the left eye with perfect vision. My right eye is doing much better now and I’ve stopped comparing both my eyes. It’s comfortable to see with both eyes now but still getting better.

      Yes there are different kind of eye drops and gels that your doctor will prescribe for you. I was also given a multivitamin to be taken for a month. Do put them all on time and complete the course given.
      The post care is usually for a month after surgery.
