    After 5 years of thinking, I got it done yesterday in the Vancouver clinic. I was anxious, but the vacuum part is really the hardest part - especially if you watch all these videos and know what is happening and overthink it like me - but in the end it was quicker than a dentist appointment.
    Today morning when I went out to the streets to head back to the clinic, it was fantastic: everything became 8K around me. I saw details I couldn't see with my glasses or contact lenses. Now the world is simply beautiful. :) I'm pretty happy with the results. I got my sight back.

      @@twinblade63 how was it

    • @twinblade63
      @twinblade63 2 года назад +5

      @@mixedhookah it was good - like Tibor said, the hardest part is when the microkeratome actually creates the corneal flap (assuming you didn't elect for the all-laser procedure). The surgeon presses pretty dang hard on your eyeball, so hard in fact that I found it a little bit painful, but that particular part only lasts about 20 seconds and the rest is a breeze.
      My vision is now 20/15 (i.e., better than 20/20), and I used to have a -6.5 prescription. Absolutely life changing - the word "miraculous" even comes to mind.
      I would strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone who is considering it.

    For those on the fence and or being afraid, I had it done at the Montreal Clinic, and I'd do it all over again. The doc I had was the other half of the founding members, Dr Demers. Procedure is actually quite an eye opening, pun intended. When he tells you to look at the green light, it is kinda blurry, until he starts the procedure. Then the red laser goes on and the stars it produces is just amazing!!!
    The only part that I really didn't like, not knowing I was walking into, is seeing all the previous patients in the waiting room. I thought they were all blind from something as they all had the Terminator dark black glasses!!! Other than that, had I known they were just like me the next day, would have calmed my nerves a bit.
    I actually bought the t-shirt on top of having the procedure done. Was the best 2300$ ever spent. I have to go again i think as I have aged and my eye shape has changed as well. I trust my vision to these guys. You should too.
    PS: I'm not endorsed by LASIK MD. I bought my own T-shirt, remember???!!! ☺♥

      @@MrKekej I think it goes on your vision. A friend of mine had very poor eyesight and one eye was 4200. They have a set minimum range and it goes from there. That was back in 2003 I think.

    • @jangunn3448
      @jangunn3448 Год назад +1

      @@safakhan8599 I started wearing glasses at 14 then used contact lenses and at 47 I had laser treatment, my prescription was -5 and -6, I had a stigmatism in both eyes that got corrected with the laser as well as my eyesight. It can't blind you because it doesn't go anywhere near the retina which is the part of the eye that gives you sight, the laser is used on your cornea at the front of your eye, your retina is at the back of the eye, I had dry eye before I had laser done due to wearing contact lenses but it hasn't got any worse through having the treatment, I'm near 69 now and I've recently had an eye test and my sight is still better than 20/20. You will still need reading glasses as you get older because its a muscle at the back of your eye that weakens and you need to wear glasses to compensate that but I only need the reading glasses that you can buy in shops for a couple of pounds I don't get them from the opticians. Hope this helps

    If anyone is considering getting laser eye surgery, please, please think very carefully. The fact is laser eye surgery is extremely dangerous. I've had it done myself and it has ruined my life. Years on, my vision is the worst it has ever been and I am still in pain. In fact, most people who have told me they have had it done, have also had some kinds of problems, many of them serious and life-changing. Research seems to bear this out, suggesting that the majority of patients have some kind of problems.
    Please take anything you are told by the companies with a pinch of salt. If you are still tempted, make sure you seek advice from an independent optometrist or ophthalmologist who has nothing to gain by you having surgery.

      I know many people who have undergone LASIK, including myself, and nobody has had any type of issue whatsoever.
      As always, it is important to get surgery at a reliable, reputable clinic by an experienced eye surgeon using the best available equipment.
      Complication rate is exceedingly low, and serious complications comprise less than 1 in 1000, most of which are the result of poor after-care. (i.e. people disregarding medical advice)
