That 4 hours a day rule is the best advice in general. Most people aren't willing to put that much time into something.
Slipknot is known for their strict practice sessions.
Lol. No. They are known for being unnecessary, and having a fan base of soft, idiots who think they like metal. 🤦♂️
Really?
@@king_crimson8264Yes actually.
@@king_crimson8264In fact there are a shit ton of old school Slipknot early days practices where you watch them hammering through tunes. So yes, very much.
@@josephwalton487 It makes sense, i mean, 9 guys playing at the same time, lots of things can go wrong if they don't practice a lot
Sid is always cool
He reminds me of my ex-boss lol. Kinda a scuffed looking white dude with a ton of tattoos that was into music
@I hate every one equally which one?
always
Love how he gave qbert that shout out. The man’s a fucking legend. Mad respect.
Respect. I was fortunate to see Qbert with Mike Patton a few years back. Sid's right, he's an amazing live DJ.
I met this guy in Syracuse a few years back. Super smart, very humble. Class act
100% real advice!! Also, getting out in front of any audience you can as much as you can. You can hone your craft in rehearsal mode, but shit changes the moment you’re in front of a crowd.
I agree with that . I’ve practiced acoustic guitar and singing for 4years now after playing guitar a little 20years ago and most days I put an hour or two in but as soon as someone comes in my room to listen I go to shit for the first 5 minutes atleast until I settle. Also you need to practice more difficult things because it’s tempting to carry on doing what your best at
Sid is one of the most humble and down to earth guys I have ever had the honor of meeting. I met this amazing gentleman in Noblesville,IN at Mayhem Fest 2008. 15 years later and I still feel like that day changed my life forever. Thank you Sid, stay S1C 🤘😠🤘
i wanna hug him
Hands down one of the nicest dudes I have ever had the absolute pleasure to meet. Dude is real af.
As a thirteen year old who desperately wants to be a famous musician when I grow up, to hear this from Sid Wilson makes me wanna cry!! He’s one of my favourite musicians ever!
Sid is my favorite member
I love him sm.
Jesus Christ, why is Sid Wilson giving some of the BEST advice right now??? Didn’t expect that 10/10
Its the dad advice
@@BonBonz21 best dad advice
Took a picture with him and my brother at a Stone Sour concert. Genuine and amazing man
Love Qbert, dude blew my mind with what a turntable can be.
I hate when people say I want to play guitar, or say they do and can hardly play 3 chords. It's a dedication and lifestyle. I spent countless hours in my room growing up
Its never too late to start. But if you’re an adult its too late to spend 10 hours a day practicing like i did in moms basement
S/o Qbert. So many underrated scratch DJs. Gotta go find my old Executioners cd
Sid is awesome
Sid is the one dude in Slipknot that still gets it. Respect.
No, they all do. If you think that you are silly
@@MC24DB Clown fired Chris over him wanting his fair share. No, they do't all get it. Old Man Clown and Corey are both cunts.
LOL. Yes, I'm "silly." That's your opinion-you can have it.
This comment isn't wrong, so let me empasize this-Sid is the *ONE* dude in Slipknot that still gets it.
@@DownfallDarkness Nah youre just blatsntly incorrect
For real man they so turned goofy 😭
I wish I could practice 4 hours a day. Sounds like heaven.
To have the time to do that 🤌
Stop making excuses, there are 24 hours in a day, don’t find time, make time
You can start having more time by getting your ass off RUclips.
Love that portable Numark PT01 scratch turntable.
Sid has the best job ever.
Practice whenever you can fit it in not everybody has 4 hours a day that can free for this, as long as you maintain some kind of consistency you can atleast see results in your craft if nothing else
Was not expecting this, but this is actually legitimately good advice
facts. stick w it long enough, also try to progress = one of the best doing it in the long run
Out of all the members of slipknot, Sid is the one I’d love to have a chat with. To me he crafted the sound of slipknot, and without him I don’t think they’d be the band we have today. So glad I got to see them play last April in Edmonton. Rock on!
Alright then, calm down xD
Now this is actually truth. Real practice. Dedicated and focused, four hours per day for 10-12 years and you can be a professional level. But it takes that slow burn of dedicated and focused, intentional practice every day. Extremely difficult to maintain through life events, vacations, problems in family...etc. Dedication to this level makes you an artist 100%.
Damn these newest comments are just disrespectful
Love Sid. Love Qbert too
Good advice, good stuff!
Sid is underrated and underutilized imo
love him smmm❤❤❤
Loved the respect towards DJ Qbert . ❤
I'm practicing in a band and it's the coolest experience it's a program I'm apart of where you get together with random people practice in a band together and then we perform live at the end of the lesson year it's super cool I have a show coming up on the 25th kind of getting nervous
True words of wisdom from Sid.
You can do it with less time, you just need to pick up the guitar for just a couple of minutes a day and you're ahead of most. I have a good book on it that has chapters on practicing guitar 10 seconds at a time if you need it
What's the book my man?
@@Domn879 not true I am proof
@@freebzz 10 second habits
Just do it.yeah it's that easy. Just doing everyday is were legend forges
Can't believe he threw out a DJ Qbert reference. Dope!
I know right!! Fucking awesome!
Slipknot never been so disappointed
Dj qbert . I play guitar 10 hours a day . And I still didn't make it. I never left my room . But I sure can slay the guitar
best advise - be the weed dealer to your band so the keep you as a DJ even though they're playing metal. bonus points if you can convince them to have a sampling member too just to make you look more valuable. get a guy or two to bang on trash cans and kegs if you really wanna confuse the issue.
Wise words from dj starskream
Bro is on the percs
soooooo goooood
SEEN QBERT IN OHIO @ TRANSFORMATION 3 WIT ICEY (MY FAV) & A BUNCH OF GREATS💥💯
If you are passionate about playing an instrument don't limit yourself, ever. Do it as much and as often as possible.
SHOUTOUT DJ QBERT! wave twisters was goated
I checked out some Qbert from this clip and Sid is soooo right.
I've heard your music...keep on practicing
Sids so cool😂❤
4 hours practice a day is the key.
If you do 4 hrs or more a day when you’re very young, you’ll be a master of your craft by adulthood. Adults trying to master anything is extremely hard. It can be done but the 4 hours a day practicing might not cut it!
And in high school they only gave you 55 minutes to an hour to practice 12 songs.
@@dampnoodle scratch class in hs?
@@Jacen13yeah I’m in my mid 20s and i don’t practice consistently enough but I’m trying to work on being on the computer for at least an hour a day and at least screwing around with sounds and keeping my focus, yesterday one hour actually did turn to 4 hours of just trying to make one piano sound 😂
@@Jacen13 I picked up the guitar at my 27th birthday last year. I work fulltime and dont have the time to practice that much .. BUT i will form a sick band where i will be frontman anyway, and we will write great songs.
You don't need that much practice, you only need 3 chords, a big heart and the desire to create great music
Sid wilson! Radd dude!❤
i like sid
Qbert is one of those rare examples of someone who is 10 times better than the best people in his field. He’s been miles ahead since the mid 90’s
Solid advice
Just like Nirvana too, they were so good at their instruments because back in Aberdeen all they did was practice all day. Apparently Kurt was pretty serious about practicing. It paid off too.
Love sid
I saw q bert at a rave in 1997 definitely the king of scratch
Always have patience and worl hard for what you do. It'll come to you when you least expected. That's what my nana tells me everyday.
Great advice Dude. Luc from Canada
Well said
Advice marry Ozzy's daughter. Lmao

I'm sorry... What the fuck did u just say?

@@nikkipacheco6835 yeah I think they spawned a kid. Lol
no thanks
That’s ❤
He should have added “ stage dive at every show!”
This man looks nice
Mans not wrong, John Petrucci practiced 5 hours a day
And Dream theater hasn’t written a good album since 1992
@@DrDanka69 but they did make good albums and some people still like the new stuff
@@DrDanka69 Petrucci has, though.
@@DrDanka69 cause since Images and Words taking off got rid of his practice time!
@@DrDanka69 and you haven't moved out of your mom's house. who cares
Back in 2002 I met the dillinger escape plan after a show and I asked Chris Pennie how much he practices and he said 5 hours a day. Seems most professional musicians do average 3-6 hours a day practicing.
Advice:" The fewer band members you have, the more money you make." Sid Wilson
If you're gonna practice drums or guitar 4 hours a day, definitely take a break every hour to avoid injury
Or sore fingers 😂
I'm dealing with fucked up hands right now from years of playing guitar and bass constantly. Take it from me, your comment is excellent advice.
Plus, it’s just better for your legs to get up and move, every hour at a minimum.
I agree, in every sessions it's always good to take a break. Stretch, relax, drink water, refresh.
But also keep in mind.....
"there is strength within every pain we go through"
Its TRUE!!!!!
Was playing 6 to 8 hours a day of guitar.
Got the phone call out of the blue one day and the starts aligned!!!
Got to go on my 1st tour and I THOUGHT TURNING 30 WOULD SUCK!!!!!
Did it Indianapolis on my 1st tour!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🍻🍻
Investing the time prepares you!!!!
touring is HURRY UP AND WAIT!!!
That's exactly what its!!! Mean check on times to play ur shows regardless of how early or late ur going on!
HEADLINER or SUPPORT!!!
It can be your show and you don't make check in time!! You can be pulled off your own show!!!
I remember first hearing a Qbert track was like on THPS or maybe even Thrasher skate and destroy. Hectic!
This is Sid?????? Mind=blown
I'm sorry but sid is my favourite slipknot member
So true
Spider-man, in fact, did have his eyes exposed for a bit. In Amazing 113-116, he had a replacement mask after he lost his fighting doc ock. But that was long after ditko.
This guy is a real DJ. That crap that's going on today is dumb as hell. They just click samples and jump to the next song. This man actually has real DJing skills.
Dope
fucking love sid. and on a side note he has the coolest hand tats
And what instrument you play in forgot....
Sid gave AJ good his stage and mask
4hrs of playing and the othe 20 partying...then your a rockstar...
Fr lol. My buddy gave a ten strip to him and he shoved the whole damn thing in his mouth while playing.
Auh..yea gota love the 10strip guy..LMFAOO..at least you didn't take 2many zannies.. HAHAHEE
He has forever been sketchy but real as fuck
Being proficient at your instrument is important but doesn’t really mean a lick of beans at the end of the day. You need to have something to say and use that to write good songs. On top of that you need to be able to curate a good band, best way to do that is to consistently go to shows and be part of the ‘scene’
Good ending: Sid
Bad ending: Serj
Reminds me of pinkman
They say if you practice atleast a hour a day for a year you will be better then 95% of the people that do what you practice
Sid forgets that kids nowadays have the internet, their phones, and social media. So they are constantly distracted.
Us old dudes didn't have any of that growing up---so it was easy for us to focus our concentration on something for six to eight hours a day. I can't imagine a kid of today focusing or concentrating on any one thing for even an hour---nearless six hours.
I play THREE instruments
Do I split the 4 hours among the instruments or do I do 4 hours per instrument?? 12 hours per day 😭
I'm sorry, what instrument does he actually play? 😄
I'm sorry, what instrument do you actually play? 😂
100%100
I wish man. I’m lucky to get one hour in a day I got shit to do😂
Do you feel like that one hour is sufficient? Look up John Williams the classical guitarist. He never practiced more than 45min to 1 hour a day..but…he said it would be the most efficient practicing. I had a guitar teacher who was a big advocate of this idea. He said some of his other students would boast about practicing 4-8 hours a day but they weren’t really practicing. He referred to it as “finger dancing” just fretting notes aimlessly and mindlessly (which is good for dexterity) but Williams would work out a game plan before he started and it was the productive most efficient practice. Not a wasted moment and. I noodling around. In his case that proved to be more successful than hours of aimless “practicing”
He would say “practice doesn’t make perfect.” Instead “perfect practice makes perfect” there’s a big distinction between the two. He is one of the best classical guitarists in the world so there’s something to this.
Hard to hear but solid advice, 4 hours a day for your craft and you can be among the best. Gotta find 4 hours though😂
That's hard if you've a job, friends to catch up with, family to stay in touch with, a partner to share time with, other hobbies and trying to exercise as well
I try 4 hours a week lol
what instrument does he play again ?
They make you work an 8 shift- ya you get pissed but the feeling over comes you after 3 months like “ man I can run this whole thing” ya that’s what will happen if you do this!
TO BE A MUSICIAN , IS TO BE A CROWD
