    I love you man It's painful seeing my friends using ti 84 and I'm just sitting there left out using this rocket science calculator. You are a life savior

    I remember commenting here when I was about to take the Calculus BC exam (2021). I am so thankful for your help, and now that I’m in college, I’ve decided to come back to my TI Nspire (since it’s really the most complex but effective TI to rid mistakes).
    Thank you again a year later, and I hope you can make some more TI Nspire videos!

    Great video. Testing in one week. Just got the Nspire. Was regretting purchase until I watched your video.

    hey thank you so muchh! my ap calc exam is in 7 days and my TI is in test mode do I need to get it out of test mode before the exam

    • @turksvids
      @turksvids  2 года назад +2

      You don't _need_ to get out of test mode but I recommend getting out. For the exam you do not need to be in test mode.

    do cas calculators really make things easier on calculus exams? I've literally just learned what cas stands for (after buying a non-cas one)..

    • @turksvids
      @turksvids  2 года назад +1

      The AP exam is designed in such a way that a CAS calculator will not give you an advantage, so that's okay. I think having a CAS available while learning is amazing because you can quickly check your intuition, skip tedious stuff that stands between you and actually answering a question, find patterns, etc. I've also had former students tell me that they've been in college courses with professors who just don't know what's what and have allowed them to use CAS calculators on exams where a CAS just does all the work. (Most of them report that most of their exams are non-calculator anyway, though.) I find it crazy useful, but I also managed to get through my entire education without access to a CAS and was totally fine.

    I have lots of things that don't seem to match on the nspire CX school property edition. Menus are different, missing, or grey'd out. In this example, I enter the w(v):=55.6-22.1*v0.16 and it gives me the error "Independent variable is not 'x'". I do examples in videos and get errors all the time when other people get answers. Any idea what I've done to my calculator? I've reset it to factory settings and it's still just a weird calculator.

      Ok. It doesn't work in Doc, but it did work in scratchpad. I'm not getting how or when this calculator works yet.

      Is your calculator a CAS (shouldn't matter for most of what I do in this one) and what operating system is it running? (On a calculator page: DOC, 7, 4 takes me to that screen.) I'm running 5.3 (probably) in this video. I'm not sure about that particular error (though clearly x is not the independent variable, v is) so maybe using x as the independent variable would fix this particular problem. (You also might have stored something as v or x, which would cause problems.) Let me know how it goes!

    Anybody has a similar video in TI-Nspire AP Stats?

    • @turksvids
      @turksvids  Год назад

      not that I know of, but hopefully someone will link one. (I'd make one but I don't teach stat so I don't have a handle on what you'd really need to know.)

    I hate to say this but my exam is in 2 weeks and I still don't have a Graphing calculator. I want to get the Nspire but I heard that it has a long learning curve, so I'm thinking of getting the 84 plus ce instead.
    Can u please help me with deciding? Which one do you think is more helpful on AP Calc BC(given my time constraint)?

    • @turksvids

      If possible can you borrow the 84 from someone for the exam (and a little before to practice) and then get whichever you ultimately want to own after that?

      I find the ti nspire to be easy to use if you have never used a graphing calculator before. It is really similar to using a phone.

    What is the most advance TI calculator that I can use for the AP exam? I don’t want to buy one and find out that it is banned. I also want to be able to use the same calculator in college because I plan to be a mechanical engineer (although I don’t know exactly what I’m going to be doing in terms of my math classes because I’m still in high school, I just don’t want to buy another one later on)

    • @turksvids
      @turksvids  2 года назад +2

      TI-Nspire CX II CAS is the most advanced they make right now and is allowed on the exam. My former students have said they love knowing how to use it for problem sets and what not in college. Hope this helps!
