What is the point of the head snap up on the sharp turns?

      My guesses are:
      1. So trombones don't smack other instruments and people as they are the longest horn
      2. Uniformity, would be weird if only trombones did it and not the trumpets, cornets and baritones. Sousaphones can't as they're wrapped around the body, but in some performances, the sousaphones would tilt up during a turn.
      3. Reduce chance of forgetting. If only some turns had it and others didn't, the chances of forgetting to do it would rise and would make the band look less professional. Better to make all sharp turns do it than trying to memorize which turn it is, especially since they're all students who could be having a tough and tiresome week during midterms, finals or big projects and might be running on fumes.
