I am a costco employee. These comments and views are my own and do not reflect those of costco. I am not being paid by costco or ANY company or brand out there. I am simply trying my best to provide accurate, non biased information to help out folks that wear hearing aids. If you use any of these amazon links to purchase products, i get a TINY TINY slice of commision. Help a brother out! Love you guys!
I just watched your video on the Rexton Reach hearing aids yesterday and how impressed you were with the technology. How would you compare the Philips 9050 aids? I am going to be deciding on hearing aids soon and have been leaning towards the Rexton.
Wondering the same. Thank you
Me,too!
Have you done update now that 9050 has been released
Superb video and comments. This truly helps all your viewers and you should certainly have more likes and followers than you do.
The two big influencers are great to watch but your information is down to earth and concise.
Thank you so much Jeff, I really appreciate the feedback man. Hopefully, the follows and subs keep increasing like they are and I’ll always be here to help regardless 😊
Very informative, appreciated, and well done. I bought a pair of 9050’s today at Costco on October 7th, 2024. I owned the 9030’s prior to this, and I believe I also owned the 9010’s. My 9050’s are set to arrive this Friday, October 11th, 2024, and I’m excited to see if the new features will help with my severe to almost profound high pitch hearing loss, which are my main and biggest issues. I’m tired of always having to ask for repeats or pretending to hear when I didn’t. I’m at a point where I'm dreading follow-up questions to things I pretended to hear. I know you understand out there if your reading this comment. For those of us with hearing loss it's really frustrating not being able to hear like you used to.
I totally understand, I still have the same issues, mainly understanding my children. It is super frustrating.
I got my Phillips 9050s at Costco Today. 10/12/24. My first pair ever. Wow. These are life changing. Work great with my phone. Work great in my truck while connected to my truck through Android Auto. Work great listening to youtube or other things on my phone. Wow. These things are great. Did I say they were great? I cannot wait to try them at conferences where a speaker gives presentations in a auditorium environment.
Are you an iPhone or Android phone user? I ask because I'm an android user and I understand these work best with iPhones
That’s great! Thank you so much for sharing with everyone. If you have any questions or need help, just leave a comment
I'm four months in with the 9040s and thanks to your video I've made arrangements to exchange them for the 9050s and was able to clap back a little to my fitter. He kind of laughed and asked why I'd bother to change them because they were the same thing. Based on the info you provided I was able to explain some of the improvements. His eyes glazed over when I started talking about the accelerometer... My only concern now is that he won't be familiar with using the ACT and Philips recommendations for the result. Hopefully, Costco will have required training on any new fitting software features. Thanks for all you videos. They've been a great help.
My pleasure! About ACT, we currently don’t have that option with our audiometers so you can’t use it. If/when we get the option, I’ll let everyone know here.
Can you please do a side by side comparison of the three different hearing aids from costco. Side by side for each feature for function and reliability of each brand. Thanks Melvin
Just love the copyrights you have to deal with! For me, I just found that my local Costco now has the 9050 in stock (09/18/24). I plan to wait 2-3 months before asking for an upgrade from my 9040s - which are still within the 6 month return time.
So a few months have gone by; is the Oticon Intent 1 the same as Costco's Philips HearLink 9050?
I now have the Phillips 9050 hearing aids. They seem to be quicker to reduce or filter noise than the Jabra. I particularly like the frequency shift. I still can't use Auracast. I have a Oticon TVA3 TV streamer and it will not pair with the 9050 aids. I assumed that oticon TVA3 and the 9050 aides being made by the same company that they would pair but they don't. Is there a phone number or E-Mail address that we can ask questions like when if ever will Auracast be implemented
I have a set of 9050's and would like to connect to a auracast that is hooked up to my tv. Can you help me to find what I need to do this
Hey I enjoy your videos. I currently have the ks9’s looking to upgrade to the Phillips 9050 or maybe a different Costco brand. Which one is best with Bluetooth and keeping sweat out. My ks9’s shut down easy when I workout.
Which hearing aids would you say are better in many ways: the Rexton REACH or the Phillips 9050?
I’m just getting aides but how do I know which is better as I have nothing to compare it to?
You won’t know I guess. I’m not sure how to answer that or if that was even a question.
I understand your question. Costco gives you a quick way to compare them by allowing you to trial them as you walk around the store. A good environment for testing noise reduction. If you're still not sure, you can choose the pair you like best, buy them and return if you don't like them, then try another brand. Not sure about the length of the period but may be 6 months?
@@John-g5n3kthank you!
Great video! I might have missed this but are the 9050's water resistant like the Jabra 20's?
They have the same rating for water/dust but idk if the Philips will survive a washer/dryer… my Jabra’s survived both, twice
Thanks for the lastest info. I am due for a HA upgrade and will wait for the 9050 to hit Costco. I have a profound hearing loss so I need all the help I can get. Currently have the 9030 and will keep t those as a spare.
Great video…long Oticon user and now health insurance doesn’t let us choose Oticons anymore…tried Phonak and Resounds… cannot hear with them… I may try these!
Thank you so much and yes, if you like Oticon, you will like these, they are basically the same thing. Remember, not only are these the same but they are the premium version Oticon, not the other 3 lower technology levels, these are the premium technology level.
Do the 9050's have a better bluetooth sync with an android phone? In July I upgraded my Phonak to the 9040. Having major issues syncing with my Samsung S 21 Android. Have been in to Costco a few times trying to resolve the issue. The tech insists that the 9050 has the same bluetooth as the 9040, and upgrading to the 9050 will not solve the problem. Do you agree?
I’m not sure yet, it is a different Bluetooth version, an upgraded version. I use an iPhone so I have no issues. So far, the newest android Samsung s23 and s24 work great. As far as the 21, I really can’t say yet.
Should we expect our Costco tech to do ACT testing and settings adjustment routinely or only if asked?
Are you doing an update on the Rexton Reach hearing aids soon? Now they've been in customer's ears for a while, what do you think of them?
I am sir, and so far, zero issues and people really like them
Is the 9050mchip "updates" to the chip itself in the body of the hearing aid or to the app then perhaps to the HA "chip"?
Will the 9050 aid really have Auracast implemented? Jabra has auracast but not implemented in the Iphone app.
I recently discovered the extent of my hearing loss and decided to visit an audiologist for a thorough check-up. He explained the various hearing aids (HAs) available and their pricing. Already aware of Costco’s offerings, I took his advice and also had my hearing tested at Costco.
To my surprise, I found Costco’s specialist to be much more thorough than the audiologist, and their hearing aids were significantly more affordable. Considering that hearing aids, like our phones, typically last about 3-5 years before needing replacement, it didn’t make sense to spend more than twice as much elsewhere. While it’s possible that some Costco locations might have less stellar specialists, I have several Costcos nearby, giving me the flexibility to find someone I trust. I’m very satisfied with the specialist who assisted me.
So, I’m beginning this journey with my hearing loss using the Philips 9050s. I’m looking forward to hearing your reviews and tips!
Well thank you so much for taking the time to let us all know! There’s some hearing aid channels out there that recommend against going to Costco so it’s nice to hear from folks like you. Thank you so much 😊
did you ever get chance to try out that auracast dongle? I bought one but it seems really clunky and I have a galaxy23+ and would like to be able to use it to stream youtube through my jabra enhance pro 20 with my windows laptop
We don’t have a Costco anywhere near us, maybe 150 miles. How can I get a pair?
The only way is by going to a Costco. We have patients that come from 3 hours away.
6 days with my Phillips 9050 and they are super
So much better than my Phonak 90
3 weeks with the 9050’s and they are wonderful
Question: A Costco audiologist today told me firmly that the Phillips 9050 hearing aids were not even as good as their older version, the 9010. They further advised that the Phillips 9050 simply were not for any hearing loss except mild losses. My losses are mild to moderate and the Phillips 9050 would not work. Frankly, I am skeptical about what I've been told. To listen to the audiologist today, the 9050 hearing aids are years behind in technology. That is not what I am hearing everywhere else. Can you advise me? I am deliberately not identifying what Costco or who the individual is for anonymity. Thank you for your expert advice.
That sounds ridiculous. I think they are great.
I have Rexton bicore . I find one too wide behind my left ear so I don’t think a new wider Philips will be a good option. I prefer replacement batteries as they are smaller and last a whole week.
You aren’t alone with your stance on batteries. They both have pros and cons
I picked up my 9050s at Costco in Ottawa Canada yesterday, Monday September 23, 2024. They're my first pair of hearing aids so they're still a little weird
"It takes time to adjust to wearing hearing aids, but the absolute worst thing you can do is give up. Trust me on this one. In six months, you will be saying, 'I'm so glad I stuck it out with these hearing aids. I don't know how or why I waited so long to invest in my own aids.' Best of luck, your aids are going to change your life for the better."
I have been using the latest Jabra hearing aid from Costco. It has not been satisfactory despite Costco adjusting it several times. The sound quality is not good enough for me to follow conversations in a group. I will try the new Philip 9050 to see if it is much better.
Thank you for sharing your experience, please come back and let us know if you see any improvement with Philips.
Philips 9050 are available, I picked mine up today 09/03/24. How can I connect philips 9050 hearing aids to samsung laptop LE bluetooth
Your Samsung laptop has LE audio? It must be pretty new. I would check with Samsung on this.
I've been waiting for these for about a month now. Exciting! Although, I recently compared the Brexton, Jabra, and 9040, and I preferred the Jabra. Do you think the 9050 leapfrogs the Jabra?
I live in pa- which Costco do you work?
I’m sorry, I can’t say which Costco location I’m at for a couple of reasons.
1. Safety. Someone may not like my videos or me and may want to be evil.
2. I’m not allowed to. Costco wants to keep my personal RUclips channel separate from my job. It would cause a mess for people that aren’t fans of the channel to show up at my work and cause issues.
However, that’s awesome that you are in PA as well. It’s a great state and since I moved here from the west coast, it has been growing on me. I do miss the ocean though 😢
I have a Philips 9050 hearing aid Bluetoothed to my Samsung Galaxy G21 Android phone. I am told by my Costco hearing tech that the 9050 can not answer or close phone calls by tap or button push with Android cellphones. In addition the 9050 microphone also is not active with Android phones. However these features are operational with iPhones. Apparently the iPhone patent for these features has expired, so Android cellphones could program these features in their smartphones to allow hands free operation and communication with the 9050 Philips units. Could you inquire of Samsung & lobby Samsung to create an updated app or phone to parallel the use of the 9050 Philips hearing aids in a manner similar to the iPhone? Please let us know when there is an Android update to permit these features as they function in the iPhone: double tap to answer and end mobile phone calls, and an active hearing aid Mike to allow voice communication with cellphone not in one's hand near one's mouth. Thank you.
Yes!
With all these options, is there an option to do Bluetooth in a simple way or turn it off. Basically, with old folks (80s+), they didn't grow up with gadgets and even trying to use their phone with hearing aids have caused them frustration. I realize in the end, making it easier to comprehend speech is important than just trying to make the volume louder.
Any chance that you could do a video on the Rexton Reach MFI - how to use totally hands free? Thanks Doug
Any update on an updated Custom In-the-Ear platform for the Philips brand?
Dies the 9050 accept an Auracast transmission?
Jabra makes the same claim but I just returned my Jabra Pro 20s because they only accept an Auracast transmission from Jabra products. Not truely up to Auracast standard. I used a Samsung S23 which is on their compatibility list.
I just got the answer from Phillips:
"Thank you for reaching out to Philips Hearing Solutions. Philips hearing devices do not support Auracast. We are always working on new solutions with emerging technologies. At this time, we are unable to advise on a timeline or implementation for potential future compatibility with technologies like Auracast."
So, that should stop all these reviews about the 9050s having this ability. They do not.
This doesn’t sound right. I’ll have to look into this.
will the Costco 9050 come with a travel charger?
Yes, only the travel charger
You can think of Neural Networks as software emulations of the neurons in our brains. Just as we learn by watching, reading, etc., so can these software emulations and machine learning is the process that 'feeds' appropriate information into the software program to teach it.
Fellow Costco fitter here! Struggling to find how to obtain ACT score. I have access to Quick SIN but this wouldn’t be accurate if I entered this score? Is this because I do not have the new audiometer at my store?
I’m not sure our audiometers are supported, yet… quick sin uses words whereas act uses tones, it would be a different test and not quite the same thing. I don’t think they score it the same way either but I’m not sure.
I have the 9050TRs and they won't let me press the button and answer my android phone. Bummer
They were in my Costco here in Houston today!
How much are they?
@@patrickslattery8185 Don't think the price changed from the 9040s. Here they are $1,499.
Excellent! Thank you for letting us know!

Exactly!
I have been using Philips 9010 for around four years and am having issues hearing people in noisy environments. I was interested in how AI in hearing aids may help. I used the Jabra Enhance Pro 2 for around 6 weeks and found no real improvement in noisy situations, and also found the highs were too harsh for me. I returned the Jabra’s. I am now using the Philips 9050, the sound quality is fine, but I can not really say I can hear conversations any better with the 9050’s compared to my 9010’s. With the 9050’s I was getting some feedback and they put on double domes, which created some difference that I have gotten used to. Some situations are worse, while driving I now have more difficulty hearing someone in the back seat talking. I will be going back to get the 9050’s adjusted. So far I am not noticing a real difference with the AI hearing aids compared to the older tech.
I really can’t say either. Personally, the Jabra’s (GN hearing aids) have the best hearing in noise.
I am writing to inquire about the two-way calling capabilities of the new Rexton Reach. I have been informed by a Costco representative that this feature is not available, however, I would like to confirm this information.
I currently own a Samsung S23 Plus and would like to know if the Rexton Reach is compatible with this device and if the two-way calling feature is indeed functional.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
Thank you,
Duane Christerson
Absolutely! Could you please explain what 2 way calling is, I’m not sure what you mean. I will definitely answer you once you explain. Cheers 🍻
Currently hands-free 2-way calling is only available w/ iPhones. The Android LE Audio firmware (software that runs on the devices) update is supposed to come out "later this year," however, when I called and talked to one of the audiology helpline people they didn't have any idea when this would happen. I think 2 of the biggest issues are Android version and the current status of LE Audio.
Does costcos take miracle ear trade in
No, there is no trade in option.
Great Video!
Thank you love
Sent a msg to Philips and they told me this 9050 doesn’t support auracast. I’m bummed
They said the same to me. No Auracast for the 9050.
Auracast is still very new, my iPhone 15 still has no option for it. It will take time.
I went to my COSTCO today, was very discouraged by the "Sr Hearing Instrument Specialist" that was there. I asked if he had the 9050, he said yes but none to show me. I asked if these in the case were the 9040's, he said yes. I asked to see them and he said he did not have the key! Some how, he decided to go the the back area and he came out with a 9050. To my surprise, it was much smaller than I anticipated. I will look forward to going back to get fitted, but by a different employee, this guy was pitifull! I understand Dr. Cliff's position based on this experience.
Well everyone is entitled to an opinion. If you go to a Beltone, you may get someone great or someone less than great. The same thing can happen at Costco. Overall, I personally think Costco is a great place to get hearing aids and I know objectively, the hearing aids are amazing for an amazing price but yes, you may get someone with a personality that you don’t mesh with, that’s just life my friend.
@@HearingClub my disappointment was with this guy only, not COSTCO. I am scheduling another location. I appreciate your position. Just wanted to share with you the reality of what is happening and how his opinion is duplicated by a consumer like me. You could take this info and pass it on as feedback or not. Thanks!
@@HearingClub UPDATE Sunday 9/29/24 My experience at the second location was entirely different, it was flawlessly perfect. Greeted by a helpful individual that explained everything to me. Scheduled for my 75 minute exam next Tuesday. FYI
I have a 9040 that does NOTHING for tinnitus. Does the 9050?
Mine hasn't helped tinnitus at all
@@HoleTesla Thanks. Good to know.
Even the hearing aids that claim to have tinnitus masking, don't always do the best job. You're probably better putting some white noise or something else that you prefer to mask your own sounds.
@@thomasarcher4034 The 9040 help my tinnitus a lot. However, once I take them out, it doesn't take long for the tinnitus to return. It's 24/7 really, and worse on stressful days. Caffeine boosts the tinnitus wildly.
@@jeffj318 Thanks. I'm finding that out.
Thanks!
My pleasure!
Why do our computers, phones and other devices always receive updated improvements yet hearing aides never receive anything after you purchase them?
They do, hearing aids get updates just like everything else.
I have the Jabra that I got from Costco a few months ago. My only problem with them is the sound quality when listening on a call or streaming music. The sound quality from this function😅 is terrible. They tried to adjust it but it still isn’t good. Has anyone experienced the same issue with the Jabra. Does the new Philips Intent have the same bluetooth streaming issue? I am thinking of exchanging mine for this since I am still in my exchangeable period.
@@dtannenb Part of the issues can arise from what domes you have due to your lower end hearing loss (if any). An open dome allows most if not all of the lower end frequencies (bass) to escape the ear (also helps w/ not feeling like you're in a barrel / tunnel). The Jabra's do have a streaming bass boost to somewhat compensate for this, but, it's not perfect
Pls make audioprogram from 9050 philips 😊
I wish Costco would loan used test hearing aids with a deposit so I can try each offering.
I know, 15-20 min isn’t enough but on the flip side, they have a 6 month money back guarantee. So whatever you buy, if you aren’t satisfied, you have a full 6 months to return them.
I doubt you are correct in alluding to the idea that the Philips 9050 is the same as the similar model made by Oticon. Otherwise what is the use in Demant having the two different brands. Sonova does the same thing with Phonak.
Considering that many RUclips video creators are financially assisted by different companies one has to wonder if you are supported by Costco to assist in boosting their brands. It is interesting that I don't see you doing reviews for Oticon or Phonak hearing aids. Which models from either brand have you received and tested?
It’s my opinion. That’s all. I have all the different brand’s fitting software so I’m able to see everything that both have to offer, across all the previous and current models. I’ve done my homework but of course, you can believe whatever you want. I just offer my knowledge and opinions.
@@HearingClub You are welcome to have your opinion and you do clearly state that in your video.
The quality of the software is the smaller factor on the quality of a product. I am an electrical engineer and programmer. The quality of the hardware is far more important than the quality of the software. You can turn on every filter or sensor available in the software, but if the hardware detection ability and range aren't as high of a quality then the product is inferior.
I don't say this to insult Costco. I think having lower cost aids available is fantastic. But, it is highly likely that Phonak and Oticon are not available at Costco for product differences to protect the brands. This is the way companies have done this for ages. Costco gets very good quality hearing aids in volume at reduced cost. But they are not Phonak or Oticon for a reason.
@@jeffer2350so why not try both and let us know your thoughts here?
@@dondgc2298 Best of luck to you in finding what you need for your hearing.
I gave my thoughts in my post above. I do agree with your idea of everyone testing multiple models before buying anything. Take all internet opinions with a grain of salt. This includes possibility of people being sponsored by companies and individuals with hearing loss giving opinions based on invalid testing processes.
So, Phillips does not want their potential customers to be informed huh? This they proved by not allowing the video to be shown for "copyright" reasons. Good to know!
That’s what I thought. GN doesn’t mind at all and really likes the videos. Not happy with Philips but hey, they make great hearing aids. I can’t let emotion get in the way of good information.
With the 9040 you cannot play music. It sounds like tin and very trashy. Any experience with the 9050?
You need to use the equalizer and turn up the low frequencies.

No sir. I would check with them to see if they will cover anything but it isn’t required. Costco will do their own test.
You can get your own audiogram wherever you want. Costco will certainly look at that and more than likely do their own test which is free. You have to make an appointment.
