These were the great years of racing! All the best stars still racing. I sure miss these times! There was some of best competition found anywhere! Good days!
Good quality video, better than period F1 races. It´s fantastic to see only local yellows when a car is standing still on the road course, those were the days.
I was at this race at what I think was turn 12, there was a motorcycle cop standing up on his bike with his radar gun and we were watching them on the brakes, the sound was unreal.
Can someone explain why this video from 1991 is clearer that some of the other races from late 90s early 00s? On this channel Is it that this video was saved on physical tape vs late 90s being on digital media? Just a thought idk
Broadcasts varied in quality depending on the quality of the signal being transmitted via satellite and whether or not local network affiliates were available to assist with broadcast production. Broadcasts were captured from the satellite transmission and recorded to master tapes, but depending on the venue, some were captured with assistance from local stations who had production facilities available for further clean up and post-production work, but other races that were held in venues without local assistance were basically at the mercy of the satellite feed, and whatever was broadcast was what ended up on tape without further post-production work. You can tell with the races from foreign venues like Australia or European races that they just recorded the satellite signal straight to tape without further cleanup, because different broadcasters were involved and just fed the US network the local feed.
I wonder if anyone has counted how many times Eddie Cheever made contact with an Andretti over the course of his career. Watching these races there was definitely some bad blood between the Andretti's and Cheever, and in this race Eddie and Michael banged wheels at one point.
About 1:35:00 or so, Paul explains that Hiro wanted his name to be mispronounced. It always grated me. In Japanese, it would be pronounced like that i isn't even there. Matsushta.
If you go through the years of old races, Paul changes his pronunciation of King Hiro's name back and forth every year and always says it's at the driver's request. He goes through both pronunciations multiple times
The 90s was the golden era of open wheel racing, CART and F1 at their pinnacle!.
CART in 80s and 90s ! F1 in 70s and 80s !
No way, the F1 in the 90s was horrible, tech won over talent and half the grid were paid drivers
Best f1 era clearly the 70s

*Oh man, the irony...*
Wow, this is broadcast quality right from the studio! Amazing!
Gotta love early 90s CART racing!
A+ audio and a preview pic that doesn't give away the result. Excellent!
it looks like they finally fixed their audio issues with these old races
Early 90s IndyCar was the best ever! People who say IndyCar today is ludicrous!

Page, B. Unser and Posey. My favorite broadcast booth team!!!
Sad that they could not interview Al Jr, Emmo, and Willy T (his best finish in IndyCar ever).
Arie luyendyk has a awesome corner named after him @ the rebuild Zandvoort racetrack.
As a Coloradan this is amazing
I miss going to these as a kid I remember the track at the Pepsi center
The best announcing crew in racing history.
Wow I was there that day. Went to the 1990 race also. I loved the location of that street race. 🙂

Been looking for the theme after 3 decades later

Sure glad they stopped using those symphony metaphors ;)
This is one of the slowest races in IndyCar history - under 70mph average!!
we do that on the freeway
