      @Any RD Roland use samples recorded in studios for their modules like any other company. The difference is the amount of customization you can apply to those sounds through the modeling engine. The modeling engine does not create the sound, it only processes it to change its characteristics if you wish it. You can use the sounds without any modeling.

    Funny how static a kit can sound in 2021, with all possibilities of smart voice allocation available. It doesn't matter how much painted maple there is on the stage if what comes out still sounds like a machinegun on steroids. Roland: It's time to up your game and use at least 64 round robins on every sample. Memory is cheap and you have the know-how.

Im guessing you can program any make of cymbal you like? Im guessing practise time would expand too as you're not upsetting the neighbours at all!

    07:20 I was wondering about that! They look so much better without those rubber rings. A bit louder (when you hit the rims) though, I imagine. But you likely aren't hitting many (intentional) rim shots on the toms anyway.

      Did you ever find out? I'd like to know too. Need a quiet 'unplugged' sound when playing through headphones. I've seen a few videos on the normal vdrums. Seems like these would be much louder due to the shell depth etc.

      Frustratingly, I have not heard a word. I read on a thread elsewhere that the kick drum was fairly loud and carried throught the floor (although that could be muffled if you put a dampening material. underneath it), but othetwise it was relatively quiet. I have no idea ift he author of this comment was speaking from personal experience or how reliable the info was. I'm disappointed that I heard nothing back from my original post. Please let me know if you learn anything more.@@mikestoneclark F

      @@jonslater4714 Yes, I've learned a ton. I bought a VAD 706 kit. The bass drum is LOUD. No, not as loud as a true acoustic bass drum but it is loud. I love the kit but wish the bass drum was quiet. I did pull off the head and put thicker (2") foam on the backside, and wrapped the inner shell w/2" acoustic foam as well. It didn't make any difference lol.

    • @bettermusic
      @bettermusic  3 года назад +3

      They do "clop" a bit, but the acoustic sound they make isn't as loud as the 13's. Due to them being thinner, they don't have as much mass to make the acoustic sound. Hope this helps - Murdoch

    Real wood 🪵 maple outside thin layer for ascetic, over six layers of sound deadening hard and other material. But, it's nice that Roland is getting closer to using substance instead of hyperbolic symbolism and dramatic version for amazing, dynamic range of extraordinary features that take you into the the next level of primal feeling. The rest of you that are watching all this unfold over the years and even with the other reviews know what I mu inference is .

    Top of the line kit and it still has a module with crappy unrealistic sounds. so you have to go out and buy superior drummer or something to get great sounding acoustic kits, and the module is totally redesigned lol, and it has the same small little worthless screen, the white would've been nicer if it was white pearl, I am happy about the digital hi hat, but common Roland, is it so hard to have a bunch of incredible sounding realistic drum sets right out of the box with no adjustments necessary. and why not give the option of buying this kit with the 27 module. like a VAD 506 with the new hi hat, and a color other than black.

    • @bettermusic
      @bettermusic  3 года назад +4

      Paint wears off and the black they use in the colour adds to the strength of the cymbal. It's a nice idea, but sadly unpractical.

    • @robzipper5178
      @robzipper5178 3 года назад +1

      HART Dynamics did that about 20 years ago. The paint flaked off and the cymbals felt like you were hitting frisbees. You couldn't do cymbal swells, either. The rubber on the Roland's actually do make it feel quite a bit more like hitting a metal cymbal, at least for crashes. HARTs ride was actually metal with white foam on the strike zone, and that one looked more realistic.

  • @HR2635

    still machine gun toms.. stil crap cymbal sounds.. prices WAY above any reason. Are they kidding me. 5 mics on my acoustic kit sounds way better. My electronic kit with an ancient TD-12 as controller and SD3 as sound engine blows this out of the water. Sad but true.

    • @nigelallistair
      @nigelallistair 3 года назад +3

      These are always the weirdest elitist claims ever. They are LITERALLY samples of real drums and cymbals. They CAN'T sound like shit because they're real drum sounds. And you realize there are endless kits from which you can choose the type of kit you like. right? The sounds & dynamics are there so any claim that they sound bad is unfounded. You can keep on claiming they don't "feel" right if you like but people who continue to claim that these kits don't sound good just sound like whiners. I'm sure your mid-range kit mic'd up in your spare room sounds so much better.
