    That's a perfectly fine little cabin out back built on the cheap. I got something my son and I did ( he's 14) for our family....rustic is awesome. Honestly the only thing I would like to see you do is raise it up 10 inches on some blocks which you can do for 20 bucks. That and some water protection on the wood and that little cabin will last you for years. Nice job, enjoy it.

    Outstanding and i see the point on a budget this works and works well.Plus in a hurry it gets all the base's covered shelter heat and fast. Looks amazing for what you's have in it plus you's can do more to it well using it roof over head is the main thing improve later if ya want or not.I really like it very simple and to the point.

    • @LasiterBoys
      @LasiterBoys  2 года назад +4

      I don’t think anyone could build a better cabin for only $50, with wood heat there is no moisture inside while the fire is going. If you wanna see how we would normally build check out our old house remodel. Thanks for the comment!

    • @rettbull9100
      @rettbull9100 2 года назад +1

      True, but don't think anyone expect ppl to live in that or sleep, probably going to be a shed. But a little sealer will help keep the wood, maybe even a stain.

    • @LasiterBoys
      @LasiterBoys  2 года назад +6

      We did sleep in it and it was pretty good. No insulation but still stays warm. None of the old houses had insulation as far as I know (probably pre 1920s) especially low income family’s so people did live in stuff like this. We appreciate your comment and we do agree that stain or sealer would help, however we did it as cheap as possible! Thanks for the comment! We appreciate you all!!

    Pretty cool. I like how you made it with 1" boards. I think with just a little more wood, you could have oriented the boards vertically and used board on board to cover your cracks. Then the water wouldn't run in the cracks and rot your wall.

    In keeping it low cost, to extend the life of anything ground contact you can char it with a torch. Too late now but for the future! Also getting some blocking under the structure to keep timbers dry will help. That could be done will a couple bottle jacks

    Lots of hard work there! Just needed to mention what may be a serious issue. It looked as though you put untreated wood directly on the ground. Even pressure treated wood does not last long in that situation. At this point I'd give the foundation 2 years at best, then its the floor and exterior wall bottom. I have no idea how to correct it at this point,,maybe someone else can chime in?

    • @chuckdavis5300
      @chuckdavis5300 Год назад

      If you were in the same situation, and you wanted to have a long lasting cheap foundation, you could set the floor logs or timbers on recycled concrete driveway chunks that are available free. If you wanted to upgrade that , just use some concrete blocks/pier blocks from the lumber retailers. Just a little extra investment in time and very little money could have made it much more long lasting. Great wood work guys!
