  • Now we need to do some rough animation and a block out of the scene to establish the camera, animation, and a placeholder environment. We'll also discuss composition, focal length, and the resolution gate. Then, we'll do some roughish animation to make sure everything is working. The animation ends up being more refined than typical block-outs, and the video is a bit long-winded. As with the other videos of the series, it is just a raw, unadulterated lecture.
These lectures were originally built for a college VFX class that I teach, taking students from beginner to intermediate level. Over the course of this 9-hour course, brush up on PBR surfacing with UDIMs, learn about lighting, AOVs, render layers, batch and sequence rendering, EXR compositing, and ACEScg with Maya, V-Ray, and After Effects.

Sure. TR 3960x; 256 GB RAM, RTX 3090. The CPU and RAM are overkill for this project, but the GPU allows for pretty quick rendering. V-Ray can do both CPU and GPU rendering, so depending on your specs, you can switch the mode.
