This gives me icon vibes. Looks futuristic and its amphibious but a helicopter.. let's hope it doesn't start getting a bad name like the icon did with so many high-profile crashes
Developing a helicopter and a new, turbine powerplant, is an extremely ambitious project. Hopefully they don't run out of money before they run out of problems to solve. Now if they can keep the price under $750K they have a winner.
The turbine was developed 20 years ago but still to these days it’s very technologically advanced , the range of our helicopters if between 350-480k , we do believe to have a similar price for the konner k3 (amphibious)
@@francescoranchi3689 Are you looking at supplying the turbine as a separate piece? The ultra-light single seater helis I'm interested in are using turbines designed in the 60s. With no spare parts availability (unless your a machinist). Seems like it would be a good way to get more hours on this unknown turbine.
I have always been that "airplanes are better" person throughout my life when I started this video. 10 minutes later and I'm looking into helicopter flight schools nearby! Why not be licensed to fly both?
I'd like to as well. There are two schools near me, problem is that they don't rent helicopters to even licensed pilots once you're done. I'm not going to own a helicopter so it would just be a money suck. I think that the electric quadcopter designs will be a bigger thing in the near future, i'll have to wait for those to become more available.
Nice to see the development of both a helicopter and the engine. So if they are both good and as is advertised we will be seeing them both in use in the near future...
id like to see them develop a non Amphibious version of this helicopter. ditch the stub wings, side floats and inbuilt water jets so benefit from that weight loss but keep the retractable skids. that'd be a cool little helicopter
My experience with RC helicopters on water is at idol the tail rotor doesn’t have enough authority to counteract the torque of the main rotor and it starts slowly spinning around.
water landing coming in December 2023! Unluckily we had some slowing down in the manufacturing/engineering process because of lack of employees both from our company and some of the company we get minor components from. While the Konner K1 and K2 are helicopters we manufacture and actively sell we gave those two models priority!

Not quite on the level of the Hill HX-50 in terms of beautiful design, but it has some cool features like the ability to land on water that makes it interesting. Any word on the price?

So the engine is light, but it consumes about 2.3 times more fuel per hour than a modern petrol engine. The extra fuel for same endurance does not weigh nothing.
the Robinson R22 consumes about 45L per hour and uses 100LL aviation fuel with an average cost of 7.20$ per 1 gallon (3,8L) with a total cost of ˜85$ per hour, while the K1/K2/K3 uses 60/65L per hour of car diesel with an average cost of 4.80$ per 1 gallon (3,8L) with a total cost of ˜83$ per hour, so in terms of costs it is similar. The density of AVGAS 100ll is of 6lbs/u.s. gallon (2,7Kg/3,8l -> 1 liter = 0,71Kg), giving the robinson R22 a total "weight loss" per every flight hour of 32kg, The density of CAR DIESEL is of 0,8Kg/1 liter, giving the Konner TK-250 turbine a total "weight loss" per every flight hour of ˜50Kg. Therefore every flight hour of the TK-250 turbine is of 18Kg more in terms of fuel density. Since you are comparing only the engine and not the entire helicopter, it is needed to say that the robinson R22's engine max power output is of 131hp at peak, while the TK250 turbine (of konner K1 helicopter) is 250shp, nearly the double! Also when comparing the helicopters the "extra weight" of the fuel consumption of the Konner K1 is balanced by the empty weight of the helicopter, with a total empty weight of 352Kg for the konner K1 (compared to the 400Kg of the robinson). The R22 has a 75 liters tank -> 52Kg (Flight time ˜1.6 hours) The K1 has a 120 liters tank-> 95Kg (Flight time of ˜2 hours) , 95Kg (fuel weight K1) - 52Kg (fuel weight R22) = 43Kg of less weight fuel for the R22, with also less flight time, but if the R22 is 43Kg lighter in terms of fuel, it is also 48Kg heavier (empty weight), therefore my conclusion is: The Konner K1 is 5Kg lighter than the R22, with nearly double the SHP and more flight time ! I compared the R22 and Konner K1 as they are finished product with trustable datas in terms of weight, consumption ecc. About the Konner K3 is the video, the final weight etc. is not known but will likely be a bit heavier than the R22 (or maybe not.....) but it's a different type of helicopter and helicopter cathegory as it's experimental and not ultralight
If the French and British can overcome their horrid mechanical engineering reputations, there is hope for the Italians. But with Italian design, at least you’ll look good on your way down…

Thank you for brining this out to us. Such a unique machine and there is something about it that makes it so enticing!
Interesting diesel turbine, seems like an extremely capable company to build all that hardware being only 20years old
Actually diesel is very similar to JetA so teoretically every turbine can burn diesel.
Most turbines will burn diesel. The Safran turbines in the helicopter I fly will even burn MoGas.
Holding position in water is called Dynamic Positioning

Like auxiliary tanks.might have to put a bigger turbo charger motor.
😮
Instead of using them pontoons for floating on water they should carry extra fuel.

great looking helo but would have liked to see it land on water, and how come diesel engines haven't been used in the us

That fuselage is to aerodynamics like kraft mac and cheese is to Italian food. By using fixed gear it would be 20kg lighter today.

What is the estimated cost?
Its impressive but what is the purpose of an amphibous heli this size class?
Probably executive toy, sadly.

Somewhere between 400k , still prototyping so not sure
cool
Yes the daily driver, forget the international airports Lets just go.
gph on the turbine?
˜15.8 gallons or 60 liters'
Inside of the water??? Or above the water??
No upside on the surface 🤦
And only twice as much to buy, fly and maintain than an R22 on floats.
What is the range f this hélicoptère...? 🤨
600 km
