    Why FM flex so hard, these people are literally helping keep them in business!

    • @MrDmadness
      @MrDmadness 3 года назад +8

      In business its called hook and razor, you sell a device ( the hook ) that only you can fix ( the razor ) apple is the prime example of this, hence proprietary hardware, even designed their own bolt pattern.. dirty dirty . But effective for generating revenue. In fact case its quite literally greed though it seems since they would make far more simply building boards and selling than dealing timecwith maintenance and repairs.

    Unfortunately my Onewheel +XR has a flat tire. It happened 2 weeks ago. On their page I have to buy the service, buy the tire, and pay the shipping both ways and send it to them. Can’t complain that’s business. Not being able to ride my XR is killing me. But, I also own a Pint. Now not being able to ride because of the snow and ice that hit Oregon last Wednesday sucks. It is all gone now but it has been raining ever since.

    @jimkono4100 3 года назад

    Jimmy, here’s a Facebook post I did on our Jacksonville, Fl onewheel group.
    Ok, here’s a technical question and I think I can speculate as to Future Motion’s answer (I’m awaiting their response). “Are speed and distance as reported in the app computed by wheel revolutions?” The technical factoid here is that both would then be dependent on the tire diameter. For the xr, the stock vega tire is 11.5 inches. Going to an 11 or 10.5 size, for example, would measurably effect both calculated speed and distance. Note that, future motion, when replacing tires, will only replace with the same stock vega tire. Anything less than the stock size would result in recording a different speed, distance and pushback.
    For me, its a moot point since my speed is measured by my freakout preset at about 15 mph before I enter mental whiteout.

    Future Motion responded to my inquiry regarding tire size change from anything other than stock Vega and they categorized that as a “modification to the board with unpredictable results”. So for the xr, for example, the app reported speed will actually be 1-2 mph greater than actual and pushback will occur 1-2 mph sooner than you would expect. Reported distance will also be greater than actual with a greater margin of error. This all assumes for the xr when swapping out for a smaller diameter from the 11.5”. No big deal for me but it does explain Future Motion’s reasoning for insistence that on the stock tire, when changing. I would think that that Future Motion could be more accommodating by putting a tire size setting in the app that would adjust for speed and distance.

    My XR just died today. I've had my XR for 33 days. Water damage and it wasn't even raining hard. Just a drizzle. My board shut off. an hour later I after walking it home, I removed the bumpers and looked inside. There is NO water protection whatsoever. Never ride these boards on wet roads. I have 700 miles on it and I live in NYC. This board is so awesome and I used it every day. I cannot believe they break so easily.
