- New bike season is officially among us, as we took delivery of the 2022 Kawasaki KX450 today, at Glen Helen Raceway. Although the machine is unchanged for the new year, the 450cc Kawasaki is undoubtedly one of our favorites in the fleet, as it took the top step for the 2021 SML bike of the year. Kawasaki's Mike Chavez set sag and let SML test riders Rene Garcia and Donn Maeda loose at Glen Helen. Press play and see what they thought of the machine after a day of motos!

I just purchased a 2023 kx450 rode it 15-20 minutes acts like it doesn’t wanna start then smokes and idles low then shuts off when you give it gas 😭 I just wanna rip it

How’s the longevity of the motor?
@@Michigancvhi I've got 80 hours on the motor and just did a top end to keep up with good maintenance but it wasn't necessary, I'm also a intermediate/expert vet rider.
awesome good to know I am also a vet rider 30plus A. Thanks for the info! Might pull the trigger. I just rode a 22 kx450 last Saturday while I was in Florida and I felt very comfortable on it, need to smooth out mapping tho, very snappy from closed to 1/8 throttle I race off road so need to take tame that down a bit but the rest of the power curve felt great and a lot lighter feel while riding compared to the actual weight of the bike. My current bikes are 2018 ktm 350xcf and 2019 husky tx300
@@Michigancvhi Yea, you won't be disappointed! Although i do race motocross and not trail the bike seems to work well in all conditions and is very stable. Good luck!
