Cost to build and maintain is the biggest obstacle, and then making sure homeless comply, homeless are much more likely to commit crime, meaning secutiry would need to be higher just in case. That costs too, then you have to pay staff to work there, since it is a 24 hour system

@@arthas640 To be honest, if you plan ahead, you can get a nice room at a Japanese business hotel for just $5-$10 more. Love to watch your videos, John. I’ve stayed in the 9 hours capsule hotel at Narita Airport, Tokyo, for a early flight. The pod is very cosy, and exceptionally quiet. I feel like a baby in my mother’s womb. That’s really Buddha way of living. 😁 I have a locker large enough for my 29 inch luggage. The bath area is really clean. Hi there, Thanks for the great video. Is it possible for a couple to sleep in the same capsule? Me and my girlfriend are going Tokyo next week, and we're likely to stay out past the last train!
Well the idea is to avoid squatters. Its really meant to be a one night hotel mainly so people don’t have to worry about finding shelter when they’ve missed the last train or people who know they’ll have to be back in the city early in the the morning and don’t want to make a long commute again.
IDK, I stayed at a similar one in Shinjuku my first night on a solo trip. I checked in, and left a few hours later at night to head to the bars, came back at like 3am and it was fine.
@@MMMmyshawarma Well, that's good, but it would be a little disturbing to me if they had a big problem with that. It's not like you were disruptive or anything, I'm sure.
You gotta wonder why these capsule hotels haven't been established in the west, I'd prefer them over anything else if I were to be traveling on my own. No more hostels where you sleep with ten people in a single room, no more overly expensive hotel rooms where you pay 150 dollars a night, and that doesn't even include breakfast! Someone, for the love of god, open one up in the US/Europe.
Yeah theyd be great in cities with lots of tourism, so much cheaper to pay for a bed than to pay for a whole private room. And a bed is all you need if youre sightseeing
homerles relative to the ISS they all sleep in different directions, relative to earth I'm not sure actually. I think that it really depends on how you look at it! But two go sleep on the sides, one in the top and one in the bottom if I remember the layout right. They are not really sleeping laying down or standing up, they are just sleeping floating.
This actually does look really interesting. I wouldn't mind trying one eventually. The baths would be a problem though...I can't stand having anyone see me without a shirt, forget taking an open shower next to other people.
Techno Crown we have very similiarity, especialy tighy clothe i hate it,i try once to go out side with short after i see people using it like it was comfort but then i regret it.
Inside the capsule? You get to smell yourself and live in all its glory until it fades away -- or you can just go to a public restroom and sleep there. You get to enjoy other smells, like a botanical fart garden. Hope that answers your question. -J
Many reasons. One being that most homeless individuals don't even have any ID. Meaning they can't apply for a job, and even if they could, they don't have an address to boot. Vicious circle.
WAORYU ONLYinJAPAN I have legged it from this place after one night (see my last episode no. 20). 4500 yen? I moved to a nice hotel for 4500 per night at the outskirts, but the trains are cheap and fast. I found this place stale, old, cramped, noisy at night (due to high number of capsules squeezed in), the desk staff (a supervisor?) was rude. But the biggest inconvenience was the requirement to move out every day, early in the morning, clean up, pack up, and leave for the day. If you want a nice capsule hotel, stay at the "9 Hours Hotel" in Narita.
Its crazy I've been studying japanese and I can read the yellow sign at 1:09 It saying Karaoke on top and underneath it says maneki nete which means an "invitation to sleep" I feel so smart right now.
I would imagine it would be tight for taller people. I am 6'4. Also was wondering about snoring as you mentioned you must be quiet and the capsules looking to only have screen mats as doors.
I've tried one in Asakusa some days ago. I really really loved it. I've stayed in the mixed floor. The bathroom was super clean and neat (nice and private showers with plenty of space, a lot of sinks and mirrors, more than one hairdrier) and the capsules were nice and comfy. Inside there was a locker, plugs to charge electronic devices (you need the adaptor though), and a big towel. I'm okay with this sort of accommodation, it reminds me the camino the santiago i did last year. For me other people snoring is not a deal... still, a woman rummaging in her suitcase full of plastic bag for an hour really got me on my nerves. Other than that i loved it. In this hotel there were also a suite floor with onsen and a female only floor.
And to further clarify, the nightly rate of 4500 yen is equivalent to USD43.81. The narrator mentioned discounts, but this seems affordable as is. And the snacks and meals for 300 and 700 yen: USD2.92 and 6.81.
Redemptionn310 Yeah I suspected as much, I'll give "Pussy Destroyer" the benefit of the doubt though...we'll just say he (I'm assuming it's a he given the profile name) was misinformed.
When I first saw the capsule I remembered my sleeper bus journeys from Bangalore to Chennai (India) and in the bus the upper berth was even smaller, and I had to adjust with my luggage there itself, the berth was sort of shaky, the drive was quite rash...with the conductor shouting the name of the town at each stop ..but somehow I managed to sleep through everytime...but these capsules are bigger 😁😋
For all of you complaining, I am a regular camper and one of these is like a fucken 5 stair room compared to a tent. Did you see on the right hand top a fire extinguisher? Don't fucken smoke in it! Hate this? I saved a shit load of $ while backpacking in Japan doing these. Peace.

FoodOfTheGods I wouldn't be surprised if something like this got popular for herb smokers in countries where it's legal.
Im thinking about one..
+My Life Japan the US you mean? cause it's not legal in Holland (common mistake).
Lol their acting though. Very informative!
Thanks Amy! -John
The cringe hurts
I'm guessing Japan doesn't have any claustrophobic people since it's so popular?
Msagz Jr. Maybe, japan likes small homes or use to small homes cuz... tax i guess, from what i know 😁
Yes.
Not necesarily. claustrophobic people probably avoid it. Well, there are probably not much claustrophobic people probably 1 in 100(blind guess)?
Only foreigners make a big deal out of capsule hotels. Majority of Japanese people have never used or heard of these things in their lifetime.
@@Zyscheriah Around 7 in 100
At least no ghost will scare you at night in such a small capsule or probably no sleep paralysis
sleep paralysis haunts u everywhere man if u have reply
This kind of scares me. Feel sort of like a prison cell or maybe a place for astronauts to sleep.
Astronauts sleep standing up
strapped down...knowing something can happen...ALWAYS have to be at high alert
No they don't homerles
FelixG yes they do. there is no gravity so it feels like they are laying down
homerles
relative to the ISS they all sleep in different directions, relative to earth I'm not sure actually.
You sit and bath if you didn't know that. But yeah your junk on the seat and washing everything...lol
Techno Crown i thought i was the only male who can't stand open clothes when people nearby.
Rose Eve I can't really even wear shorts in public. I don't think it's a phobia, it's just massively uncomfortable.
Techno Crown we have very similiarity, especialy tighy clothe i hate it,i try once to go out side with short after i see people using it like it was comfort but then i regret it.
Techno Crown is that low self esteem you should feel good about yourself
Infinity edge in the bath is a nice touch, especially because the water warms your feet
cool! just ask..
what happens if you farted :D
Inside the capsule?
You get to smell yourself and live in all its glory until it fades away -- or you can just go to a public restroom and sleep there. You get to enjoy other smells, like a botanical fart garden. Hope that answers your question. -J
HAHAHAHA LOL :D
😂😂😂😂
lol
Clorox bleach
Looks like someone's mom grounded them. Stop freaking out kid
Hey guys i was there when you guys were filming this. Hahahah what a coincidence
Not for claustrophobic.
Not for elephants either. No need to state the obvious.
Frank N. Stein So what? I have freedom of speech. I'll say what I want.
COOL DUD WITH GLASSES unless you're having sex with a midget or a child 😂😂😂😂😂
Your Waifu Sucks what's claustrophobic? nvm its when ur afraid of Santa Claus.
jacob satorius's favorite summer drink WTF!?
Why don’t we make these for homeless people in the UK?
Small but neat enough for satisfaction and a good life.
12345 6789 because rich people play god and in their minds homeless human who doesn't benefit the system is useless eater. Everything is bullshit
Get a job and rent a apartment, how hard is that? 🤔
12345 6789 the western population can't get along with each other. They are to stupid, fat, loud and crazy for this to work there.
Because it’s expensive and you would have to pay for it in taxes
Many reasons. One being that most homeless individuals don't even have any ID.
Meaning they can't apply for a job, and even if they could, they don't have an address to boot. Vicious circle.
I love your videos, and honestly, I do really think that you deserve a lot more views!!! Keep up with the good work :3
I agree with this completely!
Two grown men One capsule
IN JAPAN Coming to cinemas...
Looks like a jail cell,
But fancy.
Lol wat kind of jail u been to
Dreamz Movement the low class prison has a TV and phone and radio lots of things nicer than my home
Hobi. Army the future
looks nicer than my first apartment
BTS. Longsleeves at least it's better than my dorm
I would have a anxiety attack in there
So if you trying to bring a girl back.. You gotta ask if she wants to go back to your capsule?
You get a normal hotel for that.
No, but they have "love hotels" over there, where you rent by the hour.
I'd stay there. Seems very practical.
Beats sleeping at the airport if you're there on business or a layover.
$40.47 American Dollars and that bath? Nice. I may have to go to Japan. A little bigger than an Amtrak train car sleeping area.
Capone Gatto. in Poland you would get decent hostel for 20$
The nostalgia of watching this
Japan is awsome the stuff there is way better than USA...
Too bad it can't happen in the States... it'd fill up with junkies in a blink of an eye.
+Erica Sunshine no it's not wierd...

***** You've never stayed in a typical cheap motel, have you?
Let's hope I don't get into prison for a false reason

I stay in one most saturday nights back in the 90's
PhatMans Philippines Most saturday nights? That is wild! They should've given you a assigned bed or something ;) -WAORYU staff
10 Million Miles Journey 0
WAORYU ONLYinJAPAN los precios se me hacen muy bien, la comida muy barata también.
Good vid. Lots of content
"This is living"...for sure,I say that every time I watch a Only in Japan video.
It looks better than 70% of motels in America.
No motel is complete without that one weird stain on the wall. Is it wine? Is it blood? You'll never know.
"This is heaven" - I laughed at that part... with the toilet in the women's section...
Two men one capsule
My fellow yaoi fans love that idea.
1 girl whos child is it
Yea
TheFakeColqrz wow omg whats happening
TheFakeColqrz five feet apart coz they're not gay

YourDeath311 très désolé mais non merci (^-^);;
Ena Sim you can go with me and free charge for you : )
Imagine being in one of those capsules surrounded by so many others when an earthquake strikes
The good news is, you'll already have your coffin picked out.
The baths in Japan were so wonderful, some forty-five years later I can readily recall them. You truly felt like a million dollars when you left.
Its crazy I've been studying japanese and I can read the yellow sign at 1:09
It saying Karaoke on top and underneath it says maneki nete which means an "invitation to sleep" I feel so smart right now.
How are you learning japanese?
This is my work place :p happy to know many kind tourist from around the world.
I would imagine it would be tight for taller people. I am 6'4. Also was wondering about snoring as you mentioned you must be quiet and the capsules looking to only have screen mats as doors.
I remembered watching this
The narrative on this vid is way too cringy but props to this experience
it's cos the mic quality is bad and sounds like its an infomercial lmfao
Jo Nathan yeah the commentary was some of the cringiest of the Cringe
Slavery
Willy et scientia learn English dumbass
Manvir Singh lol I am doing that, buddy, fuck off
Give me a fan and a good blanket and I'd do alright in that
Each unit has climate control so you can set it as warm or as cool as you like.
Me too I need my fan just for the sound
Steven Hill I took a fan once in one of those, she didnt appreciate it so we went to a proper hotel.
Ricky Loves You why you wasting money
Steven Hill a
XD there are security cameras in the capsules
Jhonn Sescar they're emergency sprinklers in case of fire.
+ONLY in JAPAN oh ok
Or if you want to take a quick, private shower (just add heat source).
Jhonn Sescar cool
Jhonn Sescar its so you can't have sex
The first ever video I saw on this channel years ago that made me sub.
Always great to come back to this one.
Yeah person rummage in their suitcase full of plastic bags for an hour would get on my nerves tooo!!!
Oh is this what the inside of a pokeball looks like? 😎Cool
Flora Owl lol
Lool its nice XD
If any one wanted to know, ¥100 = $0.94
Thanks for explaining
And to further clarify, the nightly rate of 4500 yen is equivalent to USD43.81. The narrator mentioned discounts, but this seems affordable as is. And the snacks and meals for 300 and 700 yen: USD2.92 and 6.81.
-BallisticMiller OHHHH. That is very helpful. I'm like 400 dollars? For beer? Thnx so much!
Ahhh, thank you!
+David Thaler thanks man !
Fantastic! All looks very comfortable.
"The floor is hardwood making it easier to sweep up all that hair..."
Now you know that the struggle is real...
So about $45 to $50 dollars a night?
Johnny K. Nope 2000 one week
Pussy destroyer is either trolling or misinformed. If you mean USD then yes - it's around $45 per night.
Redemptionn310 Yeah I suspected as much, I'll give "Pussy Destroyer" the benefit of the doubt though...we'll just say he (I'm assuming it's a he given the profile name) was misinformed.
I'm 12 don't expect much
***** Must be a big boy...not only 12 but probably 12 pounds at birth.
Well, i'm heading to Japan. Anyone wanna come with me?
If you take me to get some pockey :3
Mee
Yeah but you will have to pay!lol
mee
I'll bring pocky, sushi, and any japan soda or food!
Great video. We're planning on going to capsule hotels. So far, he's my favorite, new narrator.
look at that bathroom.
fuck me man. that is God like.
and good food too? I need to go here before I die
damn that sounds awesome.
wish i had the money for something like that.
maybe one day.
Esquire Taylor 😂😂wtfff
MotoMatt were you alone?
me and you both
Im to poor
Peace.
so this place is way more cheaper than a regular hotel? what about the food?
+Pandu Adikara the 7$ is pretty decent
The capsule doesn’t look like it can be completely closed.
My main worry would be to be around folks who snore :(
I would not be able to stay there........ I'm claustrophobic
