I started working for Mike Bahnmaier in the summer of 1983 at his dealership in Salina Kansas. Back then Mikes racing consisted of the annual event in Wichita Kansas, the Truitt and Osborn annual motorcycle drag races and occasionally at the Quinimo bike drags held any Friday the 13th weekend near Lawrence Kansas. I had just recently moved to Kansas hailing from Oklahoma City where I was heavily involved in speedway motorcycle racing, racing both dirt and ice from 1977 to 1982. Over the next 17 years I worked for Mike on and off ending our relationship in 1999 at his dealership in Wichita. It is very depressing today to think of what could have been as apposed to what happened. Being an old racer with more balls then the average motorcyclist, I could have been one of Mikes pilots on his world class fuel bikes. But, as fate would have it this never happened. Having a couple old demons in my own closet then accusations of stealing from Mike (which were unfounded and the real thief never revealed), Mike and I parted on a negative note. This being said, I sacrificed a lot along side Mike as he made sacrifices to build his dealerships. He eventually was in a position to pursue his racing dreams. I sit back and wonder where I would have fit in his success had we not parted ways on such negative terms. I would not have settled for being in the pit crew and would more than likely been given a chance to prove my ability as a pilot. Would I have won a championship? Possibly, I will never know.
I'm sorry to hear that, I too have had a bad experience like yours (not with Mike), I'm 69 yo now and I think I could have left some 'footprints' in history with Dragbikes. I wish you all the best, my friend.
I don't know what's worse, the negative comments about our PRESIDENT, or the comments about Harley's in drag racing. How about, to each his own? And to the little bitches who can't understand why these bikes are called Harley, but Larry Spiderman McBrides bike is okay being called a Kawasaki, grow up. Either way, these guys have balls of steel, and I race in the MANCUP series but I have NOTHING but respect for these guys, even though my nitrous Suzuki is almost as fast. My daily driver Harley has almost 200 pounds feet of torque at the rear wheel, and it's a HUGE handful to ride, makes me feel like my almost 500 horsepower nitrous Suzuki can be ridden by a 1 legged monkee in his sleep in comparison. Nitro Methane is a whole different ANIMAL boys and girls. The majority of you with the negative comments wouldn't sit on a nitro Harley at IDLE without peeing your pants, trust me on that you keyboard tough guys. Thank you for the AWESOME video and for the negative comments givers, eat s$%t, drink your soy. 🇺🇸💪🏍
I had an XS1100 'E', with a Kerker header, reworked the carbs and put a nitrous set-up on it, wired the switch to my horn button w/ a switch for the horn or the 'joy', love that shaft drive.

A few, very few are blown. Mostly with Pro Chargers and Jason Pridemore has a screw type blower.
